Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.1.1
by: Phanx [More]

Grid has been continued as Plexus by Doadin. Use that instead; Grid has not been updated since 2018 and will not be updated in the future.

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.
The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

Hey I'm having a problem with my grid. I use clique, and say I have horizontal groups, if I put my grid in the area I want (Towards the bottom center of my screen above my KG Panel's user frames (My UI is similar to Aliena's UI), I can't "mouseover" people and click my keybind, it doesn't highlight them, it's very sensitive to where I put my cursor. How do I fix this?

Most likely, you have some other addon covering up part of Grid with an invisible frame. Action bar addons often do this. Type "/fstack" in game and then move the mouse cursor over the area that is not responding to clicks. You should see a list of frames that are underneath the cursor's current location. If you see something that is obviously part of another addon (for example, BartenderBar4), use that addon's options to move or delete the unwanted frame. Otherwise, post a screenshot showing the /fstack window, or type out the list of frames shown in the window.

Grid does not include any code that hides, modifies, or otherwise affects any default UI elements. You should be able to hide the default UI's raid frames by opening the raid manager window and unchecking all of the groups. If you do not want to see either the raid frames or the raid manager, you can use an addon like HideRaidFrames or RaidHide to permanently hide all of the default UI's raid-related elements.

If you think an addon is interfering with the ability to hide any default UI elements, it isn't Grid, and you should be able to confirm that by disabling all addons other than Grid, and then reenabling your other addons one by one (or in small batches if you have a lot) until the problem reappears.

You may also wish to try resetting your default UI settings. You can do this by logging out and deleting the following file:

World of Warcraft > WTF > Account > [Your Account Name] > Config.WTF

Note that this will also reset your game's sound and video settings.

Am I the only one who's not able to hide Bliz's raid frame while using Grid? For some reason they're always there.

If you still can't get it to work after double-checking those specific settings, just reset to the default settings for the whole addon and start over.

FYI, the Border Color option on the Layout tab controls the color of the border for Grid's background frame, not individual unit frames. Nothing on the Layout tab affects the appearance of the individual unit frames.

did /grid > Status > Your Target > Enable then discovered that my priority is set to 0.

thanks Mr Phalanx for your help

Since neither of those things stack, I would argue that knowing exactly when they are going to expire is not nearly important enough to add the UI clutter required to convey that information. Every priest I've ever talked to in any of my raiding guilds over the years has agreed with this position.

If you really think you need to know when your non-stacking buffs are expiring, there are a large number of HoT-specific plugins that can be configured to change color or do something else when a buff is about to expire.

Assign the statuses for your HoTs to the center icon indicator, and check that the center icon cooldown and stack text options are enabled (they are enabled by default). Or, look at any of the dozen or so plugins that either add more icon indicators, or add special statuses that track your HoTs in different ways.

I'm a priest, can you suggest a better way to notify that Renew, or Weakened Soul is about to fade from a target? I don't want icons covering up the whole middle for something like that...A progress bar like X-Perl, or blinking indicators would be perfect.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to using Grid, but have heard great things about it and want to give it a try. Is there a Grid module that will allow me to have Druid HoT icons rather than colored dots/text? If I want to visually see HoT icons (stacks and countdown), are my other main options limited to VuhDo and Healbot? Thanks for your help.

Is there any way to have a corner indicator start to blink when there's x amount of seconds left on the buff/debuff?
No. Blinking is one of the most annoying UI behaviors imaginable. Whatever you're trying to do is either unnecessary, or can be better accomplished through some other means.
