OPie  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: Lime 6
by: Foxlit [More]

OPie is a radial action-binding addon: it lets you group actions into rings which appear when you hold down a keyboard or mouse binding. When you release the binding, OPie will perform an action based on where your mouse cursor is.

Use OPie to reduce the amount of clutter on your action bars: rings can contain your abilities, items, professions, battle pets, equipment sets, macros, and raid or world markers. Some rings for common class abilities and professions are included, as is a special quest items ring which automatically makes all of your quest and quest-starting items easily accessible. Other addons may add additional rings; for example, Spade uses OPie rings to let you chose the seeds you want to plant on your farm.

Download OPie today; configure to your liking (/opie), and customize your rings (/opie rings). For more details, see the OPie Guide, the screenshots here, or a YouTube video of OPie in action.

Ring snapshots and tutorial/gameplay videos
You can create snapshots of your custom rings to share with other players; if you like, you can post them in the comments section on this page. Likewise, if you've created a video showing how you use OPie, I would very much like to hear about it.

Bug reports and feature requests
If you encounter any problems while using OPie, or think of useful functionality to add to OPie, use the OPie ticket tracker if possible, or leave a comment here.

# OPie Lime #
* You can now snapshot your custom OPie rings to share them with other players.
* Changes made in OPie configuration panels are now applied immediately (outside of combat lockdown), and can always be undone entirely by clicking Cancel.
* New, configurable "Selected slice (keep ring open)" binding allows you to use the currently-selected slice without closing the ring (Bindings → Slice Bindings).
* Slices can now be hidden based on a macro conditional evaluated when the ring is opened.
* Improved support for spells with automatically recharging charges, e.g. Roll.
When some, but not all, charges have been expended, OPie displays a semi-transparent cooldown spiral and a spinning spark around the slice's border to indicate the time remaining until the next charge is available.
Added a separate "Show recharge numbers" option to display time until next charge is available as a number.
* You can now adjust the position at which OPie rings are displayed through the configuration UI.
* An Extra Action Button slice can now be added to custom rings.
* OPie can now automatically select matching slice colors based on slice icons.
* The Quest Items ring now includes the Cooking School Bell and Blingtron 4000 if you have not yet completed those daily quests today.
* Cooldowns are now displayed for battle pet slices.
* Slices that are unusable due to being out of range now have a red stripe in the upper left corner of the icon.
* Slices that are unusable due to a lack of resources now have a blue stripe in the upper left corner of the icon.

## Changes ##
* Custom rings limited to other classes or characters can now be modified through the Custom Rings options panel (Inactive rings sub-menu).
* Changing a ring's binding through the Custom Rings configuration panel now changes both the default and active profile's binding for the ring.
* Ability names in custom OPie macros are automatically converted into spell links when the macro is saved.
You can temporarily revert links to text representations by right-clicking or alt-right-clicking them.
* Many bundled rings have been updated.
* Improved custom macro parser to support {{spell:id}} tags in castsequence/castrandom macros, /cast !{{spell:id}} syntax, and preserve empty clauses.
* Improved default mount detection for {{mount:ground}} and {{mount:air}} tags in OPie macros.
* Deleting a ring now also deletes the related per-ring options.
* Removed the option to display an icon at the center of an OPie ring.
* Removed Challenger's Paths ring.
* Masque is no longer supported.
* The various overlay dialogs now shroud OPie configuration panels from mouse wheel events.
* This update changes slices using the pre-Lime default slice color (e5ff00) to use icon-dependent colors.
* Non-/cast-like custom macros are now always considered usable.
* Unusable slices are now dimmed rather than faded.

## Bug fixes ##
* Fixed an error that occurred when navigating away from slice detail view when the macro box is focused and modified.
* Fixed an error that occurred when the Unbind button was clicked.
* Fixed an error that occurred when resetting per-slice bindings for a specific ring to default values.
* Fixed an error that occurred during slice selection when ring scale was set to low values.
* Fixed an issue preventing unbinding a ring from releasing the binding to other rings.
* Fixed an issue preventing correct macro feedback for /castsequence macros with a single spell and a specified reset condition.
* Fixed an issue causing the ring contents column in the custom ring configuration panel to not be updated correctly when slices were deleted under some circumstances.
* Fixed an issue causing all battle pets to appear twice in the battle pet slice category in Patch 5.2.
* Fixed a graphical issue in the cooldown animation.
* Fixed an issue causing nested ring slices to overlap in some circumstances.
* Items on cooldown are no longer indicated as usable.
* Fixed an issue causing the "Show recharge numbers" option to be ignored (in favor of "Show cooldown numbers") when performing Spinning Crane Kick.
* Fixed an error that occurred when saving custom macros while playing a class that has a spell flyout ability.
* Fixed an issue preventing nested ring rotation from being saved.
* Corrected slice icon display for non-active /cast {{spell:id}}-like macros in the custom rings panel.
* Fixed an issue preventing OPie slash commands from opening correct configuration panels on first use in Patch 5.3.
* The "Make rings top-most" option is no longer disabled when "Activate on left click" option is unchecked.
* Fixed an issue preventing the overlay dialog used in the option panels from being cleared correctly in some circumstances.
* Fixed an issue causing option panel descriptions to be truncated incorrectly.
* Fixed incorrect ability out-of-range feedback for self-cast abilities and actions.

Nested rings

The idea for nested rings is great. If it's implemented well, I can probably drop down to a single main ring and have my out-of-combat things on there be nested rings with the in-combat things not nested (or like a nest for mana/health potions since it stores the most recently used as the quick action).

The main problem I'm having with nested rings is using the mouse wheel to navigate. I already use a re-bound mouse button to bring up the OPie ring (under my pointer), which is an incredible setup. But using the mouse wheel while constantly holding down the button below it just isn't going to work in the long term.

Ideally, it'd be perfect for me if it could just be a continuation of the mouse drag for nested rings. Like say once the nested ring slice is the slice you've highlighted, mouse movement further outside the icon could select the item within the ring, and mouse movement on the icon or inside it could be used to re-select within the main ring.

In the end, something like that would be perfect for me. It'd wind up a lot like mouse gestures in the end - like say down could get to the potions menu and then left for health and right for mana after that.

Delta Release problem

I'm using the oPie Charlie 8 release, and with it I have 4 keys bound for rings E, Q, Z, and X. It works flawlessly.

Now, every time I update to the Delta release (1 or 2) I always get an error when using the E key.

I've gone through to double check that the E key is not bound to any other ability, etc. I've deleted my WTF, opie folder, and did a clean install of the Delta release, made a new custom ring, bound it to the E key and the same error comes up. It's ONLY the E key. I can bind any ring to any other key and not have a problem.

The error that pops up and runs off my screen is:
Interface\FrameXML\RestrictedExecution.LUA:781: Call failed:

I'd really like to use the current version with the nested ring options. Thanks for the help.

I'm a little surprised that this isn't available (I had a look around and couldn't find anything on it at least). I'd like to be able to integrate OPie into a macro, meaning I'd like the macro to open an OPie ring as opposed to have a macro inside an OPie ring.

The reasoning behind this is that I have some OPie binds on 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 which I usually bind through macros to work for the action buttons on a vehicle, if and only if in a vehicle. If I could use a macro to call OPie, I could simply continue doing what I'm doing.

Really quite a killer for me, unfortunately.

REQUEST: Option to *never* use as quick-action

I'd really like to see some option on individual slices (individual spells, actions, macros, whatever) to disable them from ever being used as a quick-action.

An example:

I'm a restoshaman, and I have a ring for my water totems. Mana spring, which has no cooldown, is my default quick-action, and I have the ring set to chance the quick-action to the last used action. Sometimes, though I use mana tide totem, which has a five minute cooldown, and then forget to change it back to mana spring, so five minutes later, when I go to drop my mana spring, I waste a the mana tide cooldown because I've not remembered to change it.

If I could simply click a button on the mana tide totem slice telling Opie never to use this as a quick-action, life would be grand.

This is slightly inconvenient but probably doable. We'll see

I've been avoiding that -- it breaks the "press-select-release" mechanic (since action bars do not do much on pressing), and requires somewhat arcane slash commands to work. Perhaps it's time to take a second look.

The problem with those is their complete lack of corresponding square textures, so things would either be unrecognizable or very stretched.

Confirmed; that's a problem with those OPie versions rather than anything you did. It'll be fixed in the next release.

Ring swapping and calling from macros

Is there a command that I can use in a macro to call a specific ring?

I have a dual spec warrior and I want to be able to drop a macro onto an actionbar slot so my rings will change with my spec.

I've been using Opie for a couple days now, I like it quite a bit, very convenient for my mage portals and other nonessential things I don't want to have to take up 30 keybinds with, but one issue I've noticed is that if you have the left mouse button depressed and open an Opie ring, the pointer stays in free-look mode, whereas if you have the right mouse button depressed and open an Opie ring, the pointer drops the look/turn mode and turns back into a pointer.

I frequently use LMB+RMB to run, and having the mouse pointer not show up is an issue.

It stays hidden while the ring is open, then you need to close the ring, at which point it is still hidden, and then left click to bring the pointer back.

Thanks,

Thumbs up Food Rings, Sharable Rings

Hey, first just going to mention this is the best addon for key binding management out there. <3
I love the way you can share your rings directly with other people, but I wish there was a collection of rings that people could make and then download from the internet, I think this would save lots of time in putting together all your own rings.
One ring especially would be useful to have premade, and that would be one that includes all food/drinks/pots available in the game with the "show slice only when object is present" box already checked. I have been working for quite sometime on creating a complete ring as such, but it takes forever and i recently had to reset my interface and now it is no longer Its just kind of more of a pain than its worth to have to add to the ring with every food/drink item I pick up.

Simply the best of it's kind, thanks.

Am getting an error though when having enabled "Center ring at mouse" and showing for example an empty quest ring. [OPie] Encountered [Error in ORI_Show].
Dunno how to copy your own error report when clicking [Error in ORI_Show], so here is the one from Baud Error Frame:

Code:
Interface\AddOns\OPie\OneRingIndication.lua:62: TexCoord out of range
Count: 99

Call Stack:
[C]: ?
[C]: in function `SetTexCoord'
Interface\AddOns\OPie\OneRingIndication.lua:62: in function <Interface\AddOns\OPie\OneRingIndication.lua:59>
Interface\AddOns\OPie\OneRingIndication.lua:342: in function <Interface\AddOns\OPie\OneRingIndication.lua:316>
(tail call): ?

Tracked that down -- the error occurs when the ring has a left-over quick action but no slices, resulting in a division-by-zero problem when trying to compute where the quick action arrow should point. The issue resolves itself (until the next time the situation occurs) when the ring is opened once.

This will be fixed in the next release; alternatively, you can get a patched Delta 3 version.

Love it

Hey just wanted to post that I really like the addon I even did a feature on my blog about it here: http://www.upyursh.com/2009/07/addon-review-opie.html

One question, is their a way to force the selection to be only on a button you have your mouseover? e.g. If I am in the top right hand corner (away from ring) and i release mouse it will make the selection for me.

No can do; those buttons are a lie*.

* In that you really aren't interacting with the buttons you think you're interacting with when you use OPie; the visible buttons cannot be accessed from the restricted environment that makes the to cast or not to cast decision.
