DockingStation (Display)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 0.5.26 (Beta)
by: Vrul [More]

A display platform for LibDataBroker (LDB) based plug-ins. The display is provided through panels, each having sections (Left, Center, Right) corresponding with how a plugin is justified within it.

All plugins are disabled by default and you must turn on the ones you want to use. This is to avoid the complete mess that results from all plugins being on with the first use. The only plugin on at the start is the one provided by this addon to access its options easily. Just click it to start changing settings.

With plugins unlocked you can drag and drop them to other panels/sections and have them automatically adjust to their new location. There are no limitations on the drag and drop capabilities other than the new location for a plugin must be within a panel. You may also change the location of a plugin through the plugin options menu.

Almost all sub-sections of settings have a default option. The defaults follow a set pattern. First plugins check their settings, if default, they next go to their panel's settings. If the panel is also set to default then it defers to the addon's global settings. Finally, if the global settings are still set to default, then the hard coded defaults are used.

Note: It is recommended that you delete the folder(s) for an existing addon when updating to a different version. This is to keep files that are no longer used from taking up space.

Translators: To submit a translation please just edit existing files (example: DockingStation\Locales\deDE.lua and DockingStation_Config\Locales\deDE.lua) and send them to me.

Tooltip anchor

I've noticed that some broker plugin tooltips don't seem to anchor as I'd expect (right below the dockingstation bar with the tooltip horizontally centered on the broker icon).

Some example of the ones that exhibit this are Broker_RecountFu, Broker_DurabilityInfo, ElkExperience, Bugsack.

Any chance this could be resolved even though it's a somewhat minor issue?

LibDataBroker lets tooltips be handled a few different ways, one of which leaves no easy way for the displaying mod to know anything about the tooltip. I had to do some rather hackish stuff in the past to allow scaling and consistent anchoring for all tooltips. That code was ultimately removed because it was doing more harm than good. I guess I can try a different approach but if it doesn't go well I'll scrap it without a second thought.

Edit: Version 0.4.8 is uploaded with the relevant changes. If it breaks stuff let me know asap please.

Sad to say 0.4.8 didn't fix it and actually broke a few of the displays (tooltips drawing offscreen on the corners or going away before you're able to click the option), with that in mind i'm reverting to 0.4.7 and recommending you pull 0.4.8 off to avoid possible issues for other users.

So since it's problematic for you to do anything about it, could you point me to the best way of going about changing each display addon so that they create their LibDataBroker object in the best way for DockingStation to position it?

I've honestly looked at a few and can't see what's causing the different positioning.

Could you please list the plugins with problems so I can look into it further. I'm pretty sure I know what the issue is but that would make it easier for me to test and verify.

Edit: Version 0.4.9 should hopefully address most of your issues so please list any plugins that still have problems after trying it out.

Re: Re: Tooltip anchor

You already mentioned those. All but ElkExperience seemed to be ok before I even did v0.4.8 (on my screen at least). ElkExperience was showing right for me with 0.4.8 and 0.4.9. Are you saying all of those still don't show properly with 0.4.9? With 0.4.8 you mentioned one or more tooltips were going away before you could click an option, which plugins were they?

I'll be putting up a new version shortly that makes sure all tooltips are screen clamped like they should be which should will fix tordenflesk's issue and maybe yours as well.

Vrul, I owe you my deepest apologies... It was all my fault and I only realized it when I read that quote. I use tiptac and had changed some of the anchor options without even thinking about it, all seemed well, only when I updated some of my last fubar addons did the issue crop up, not because of an issue with your addon but simply because tiptac anchor options were taking effect making the tooltip show at the mouse instead of the expected location.

I have reset the anchors to the default values in tiptac and all brokers now act as expected, once again you have my deepest apologies for not having tested things properly before bringing it up with you

No worries. I'd wanted to fix that for a long time now anyway just never thought of it when I had free time. You just happened to bring it up when I had some surplus time on my hands so it all worked out in the end.

Just downloaded this but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to list iMoney, iGuild, iFriends or iWait in the plugin list with the rest my brokers.
It does work with iGear though, which i assume uses similar coding since it's made by the same author.

Not really sure what's going on.
Could use some help, plz.

I just tried iGuild and it doesn't even load without errors. Once I fixed those it showed up in DockingStation just fine.

Errors:
He references AceTimer-3.0 when creating the addon with AceAddon-3.0, AceTimer-3.0 is not included with the addon (don't think he uses it in the addon either).

His config calls AceConfigDialog-3.0 which in turn calls AceGUI-3.0 but he didn't include AceGUI-3.0 with his addon.

So what does that mean for me in terms of what I need to do to fix it?
(Not really fluent with the technical stuff ^^;; )

Edit:
Thought I should mention; they work perfectly fine on Chocolate Bar, even without AceGUI-3.0, AceConfigDialog-3.0 or AceTimer-3.0

Nothing, the author should be the one to fix it. The author needs to run each of those problem addons you mentioned by themselves and fix them until no errors are generated.

And for the record, installing only ChocolateBar and iGuild and running WoW produces the exact same errors as only running DockingStation and iGuild.
