Shadowed Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v4.4.8
by: Shadowed, Nevcairiel

SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

hello. i have a problem. when i install SUF they show as gray rectangles where SUF must be. They are dragable, i can open options and stuff (some options are not working somehow, just cant modyfy anything) but UF is still a grey rectengle. i tried different versions, but still the same... cn you please say wht's the problem? i tried to disable all my addons, except SUF, but it was still the same, just grey. BTW i am using russian (ruRu) game client. may it be the problem? i had no problems with other addons anyway... thx, waiting for any help, cus i would really like to use this UF, really like it.

A few problems I currently have with SUF are:
1. Whenever I'm in a raid on my Hunter, my pet's frame disappears. If I am just in a 5 man group however, his frame shows fine. I am also not able to hide the Pet's Target frame. The Pet's Target frame shows in a raid group even if the Pet Frame doesn't show. Any idea what my problem is? I have looked through the settings and can't find anything to show the pet while in a raid. I have also disabled the Pet's Target frame yet it still shows.

2. I am unable to get more than 10 Buffs/Debuffs in a row. I have enough room on each of my Player and Target frames so that I should be able to have 12, yet when I go to the Auras tab under either Player or Target and set the Max per row to 12, it only shows 10 in a row.

Any solution for me on this? I will be checking back for one if you do :P Thanks for the great addon!

I tried disabling the range checker but no luck, sometimes main tanks show, sometimes they don't and other times only one of them shows.
I have found a workaround to make them show: enabling and then disabling the portrait or powerbar option in the MT frame config (I don't normally use portraits/powerbar in my MT setup).

Syrah: Interesting, I'm not sure why that happens ubt I'll look into it.

Mgssidley:

1) I assume you set it to hide pet in raid instances in Zone configurations.
2) Not right now

Hey Shadowed, thanks for the awesome addon and especially for continuing to work on it (unlike other Unit Mod writers).

I have a very minor annoyance and it is very likely that I accidentally caused this myself. When I'm running a random, the party frame doesn't always follow Blizz's organization (i.e. Tank is first party member shown, Healer is second etc). It's not truly a big deal, but it has caused some interesting moments (such as misdirecting the first mob to the healer ). Is this a setting that I'm not seeing?

Thanks in advance.

The pet thing was correct, thanks! By "Not right now" do you mean SUF doesn't support more than 10 in a row right now?

Mgssidley: It will next push, if you manually enter the value, but it doesn't right now.

tuccoyote265: If you enable advanced settings and choose sorting by Index, you should get that.

(Target Frame)
I have my Empty bar set to 0 height and made the target's name show up above the bars. The left Health Bar text shows health and health %, while power bar left text shows power and power %. As you can see, the percentages aren't lined up exactly. Is there any tag that can be used for justification so that they always line up?

Thanks!

First off I wanted to give a big 'Thank you!' for the changes you made to the totem timer bar background you made at my request a few months ago. Been a bit out of the game until recently and never had a chance. So, 'Thank you!'

I've also run into a couple more issues I was hoping to get your help with if possible. The first is that I've noticed when using the 'range indicator' option, players who are dead but haven't released are considered 'out of range' for alpha settings. Any chance you could fix/change this? It would make res'ing quite a bit easier.

I've also run into a small snag with my desired layout for party/raid that I'm hoping you can help me with. I've currently got my raid/party frames set up to mimic Grid using your ShadowedUF Aura Indicators plug-in and have the standard 'square unit frame with text in the center and indicators in each corner and the center' Grid layout.

The problem I run into is the text tag I have in the center sits on top of the center indicator, which can obscure the indicator quite a bit. What I would like is for the center indicator from ShadowedUF Aura Indicators to be above the text instead. I've noticed the ShadowedUF Aura Indicators seem to be 'behind' the Role Icon/Leader/Master Looter indicators as well, but that's less of an issue for my particular layout. I'm unsure if this would be considered a bug with your ShadowedUF Aura Indicators plug-in or if this is the intended behavior.

Assuming the above is considered 'working as intended', is there any chance you would consider adding a frame level option for indicators? An option to adjust the frame level of the plug-in indicators or of the text tag (or both) would be immensely appreciated. (This may have been better suited in the ShadowedUF Aura Indicators comment section. Sorry for that.)

Thanks again for all the work you do with this addon Shadowed!

The brightness on those is actually because of the texture used and not anything Pitbull does, so far as I know. Grab the texture and throw it into SUF, you should get the same effect.

Tanman108: I'd imagine Sangull is right, you don't really control that with color as much as texture.

Politig: You would anchor it to the left and use offsets to move it to where you want, if that doesn't work then you can't.

Sangull:

I believe that's because you can't use the normal spells to check range while someone is dead, I'll see about changing it so it uses resurrection spells if someone is dead, otherwise it uses the normal ones.

Aura indicators should be on top of everything, except text. I don't plan on adding a frame level option thought.

How would you add a new aura border? I've tried creating a new one and renaming it to one that comes with the addon (the light one) and it still shows up as the light one. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Just quickie, is there a way to revert all the text to the default styling? I.e. non-monochrome, with a shadow.

(Also, I wonder if those macros are applicable to other situations, or are they just for your mod?)
