Hi, my name is Thaoky, and I'm an Altoholic

Altoholic is an Ace 3 add-on written for people who dedicate most of their time to leveling alts, and who want to have as much information as possible in one place.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

I am back in the game since 28/12/2020.

If you are upgrading from a version below 9.0.003, YOU MUST CLEAR YOUR SAVED VARIABLES !!

This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

About the add-on:

The add-on has been in development since December 2007 and was officially released in late March 2008. It provides you information about your alts (bags, mails, AH, etc...) without having to reconnect them all the time.

About the author:

I was born in '76 (you do the math) and I work as a Project Manager + Software Architect + Full Stack Web Dev (yup, multiple hats) in a large multinational, so my coding time is limited, and Work > Gaming.

I live in Belgium, and obviously play on EU only.

Assistance will be provided on a best effort basis, but in any case always be polite and respectful when asking for help, I am neither a teenager, nor a punching ball. I am a cool guy with people who are cool with me. Respect that rule and we'll be fine.

2020/12/28: Due to Teelo's actions, I have reverted his changes and resumed development based on my latest version of the code. Some of his new features are temporarily not available anymore, some are gone forever. The main Shadowlands features will be back though, just be patient.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 8.0 : As with every new expansion, many things have changed in the API, and it is REQUIRED to clear your Saved Variables for the addon.
This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

There WILL be bugs if you use your old files without cleaning them first.
Some fixes to work around API changes are too time consuming, so cleaning is required. A meagre price to pay once per expansion.

- DataStore_Crafts: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- This concludes the conversion of all DataStore modules to make them compatible with all versions.

- DataStore_Reputations: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- DataStore_Containers: Fixed COMMON_NUM_BAG_SLOTS to be NUM_BAG_SLOTS + 1 for retail, and NUM_BAG_SLOTS for non-retail, instead of the opposite.

- Fixed an issue where sorting the bags while the merchant frame is opened would trigger a slow down (Thanks Belazor !)
- DataStore_Containers: Removed an invalid test when closing a bank frame.
- Events : fixed a Lua error when a tracked item like an egg actually hatches.

Thaoky An Aku'mai Servant Forum posts: 30 File comments: 19 Uploads: 1	Hello, Actually, Combuctor is one of the addons I've been "reading" (along with BankItems) to get familiar with queryings bags & co back when I started Altoholic, and I have to say it is pretty well coded and easy to read. That said, Altoholic does not touch the bag/bank/guildbank interface at all, while Combuctor does, so presumably the problem would be on Combuctor's side. Assuming you can reproduce the issue easily, the first thing I would try is to make a few tests with Altoholic alone, then with Combuctor alone, then back with both, this way you will narrow down the options. I'm ok to work with Combuctor's author to resolve this if you can bring me evidence that there's a compatibility issue Let me know more. Thao PS: to all, I'm making good progress on support for multiple accounts, but I'm still a few weeks away from release.

I have Altoholic and Combuctor, I love both to pieces. But when I go into my bank, a lot of times these days, I can't remove or add anything to the bank or to my bags. I try /reloadui and most of the times then I can 'move' things freely...sometimes it takes a couple. But occasionally I have to actually exit the game completely (as in back to the desktop) and restart the game. Funny thing is, I also use !Baud Error, amazing at tellin me what's messing up and why....but it's not giving me any error notices. So I can't even give you a 'list' of what's causing the actual 'problem'. Which version are you using ?
When was the last time you cleaned your SV file ?
If you have the latest and cleaned it recently, then did you make sure no filter is applied when opening the tradeskill window ? The only reason why not all recipes would be available is that a filter was active. Just reopen the window, it should work instantly.

A friend of mine said that this mod does an ability I am desperately looking for - letting me know when a crafting skill CD is up while I am playing a different character (such as making refined salt on my LW, glyph research on my DK, smelting on my miner, etc.) . Some of the CDs are very long (3 -4 days) so I want to make sure I do them as soon as they are available instead of having to log on to each character and check. Does this mod do this and if so where can I find it? If not, does anyone know of a mod that works in WotLK that does the above it would be greatly appreciated....thx again for an AWESOME mod!!

Actually, no. I know it's quite some work for me, but the main difference is the layout of my tables, it offers me a great flexibility and uses little memory (only item id's vs more info in AL). Browsing AL tables would be longer than browsing mine, and that would impact execution speed. I had though about that originally, but when I saw the way tables are done, I knew it wasn't for me. Not that it's bad or anything, it just doesn't answer my needs.

@Jeania: I'm using AL as well, it does not hinder Altoholic in any way.

@Farseerlolotea: I don't think I'll change this in the summary tab, but I'm currently working on multiple accounts and I will be testing a few things design-wise to see what the best layout is, so it may change ultimately.
Low level changes have already been done (DB wipe in next release), but there's still a lot to do, I'll combine a lot of DB changes in that release to minimize the need to wipe the DB in future releases.

@Delique: smells like a bad installation indeed. I would suggest that you completely clean your saved variables and try again. If that still does not work, wait for the next release (I'll strive to do it today).

I've been having a similar bug as Delique lol, but I absolutely love it! And I meant a minimap button lol and I saw the options, although i think one of my errors is there because of it, I have the guild bank option unchecked, because I don't want it to have that in the memory as there's 2 guild banks, but although it shows one of my char's guild bank but not the other...

And I have Titan so the minimap button isn't an issue lol I clicky on my pretty bar and walaa lol. I'll see if I can get the error printout later for ya

Awesome prog, goodness, hats off to you, this had to of taken forever! Love it!

edit* Oh and I don't have Atlas Loot

Not sure if that helps any, but it seems a lot who have the trouble do, so just making sure you know there might be non-atlas having probs too lol.
