LittleTrouble  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.0-66863.14
by: Fleetfoot [More]

Description:
Have you ever wondered what exactly youre AutoShot is doing, i mean, youre paying good money for it, but really, how do you know youre getting youre moneys worth from it.
Well worry no longer, fleetfoot industries gives you LittleTrouble, the younger, more handsome brother to BigTrouble.
Through pixel magic this will give you a castbar for youre AutoShot.

Why:
I can already hear the question in the air, why would i make this since BigTrouble has this and more. Well with the advent of the new event system in 2.0 both Aimed Shot and Steady Shot was registring with blizz default castbar aswell as every other castbar out there. So after much pondering how i would move forward with BigTrouble i decided the best thing was to create this thing as a AutoShot only addon. This will give you the viewer the choise of using whichever castbar you desire for aimed shot and steady shot. This feels like the better solution rather than trying to shoehorn steadyshot into BigTrouble. This also made it possible to clean up alot of fuzzy logic that i had to use for Aimed Shot. The result is a new, more sparkly autoshot addon with lots of customization on the looks of it, you can even now change the color of the bar

And yes, i know zhunter also provides a AutoShot bar, but there's always room for one more, especially if youre like me and dont use zhunter.

Noteworthy stuff:
This mod does rely on the Ace2 embedable framework. Ace2 is the next generation of the Ace line, and does not require an external Ace2 addon as a dependency.

Command List:
Now, i wanted to make this one both slice and dice but in the beginnning i settled for just one commandline options. Now tho there are a myriad of options to tweak the look of the bar.

/ltrouble -- Gives you a list of available options.

finally

Thank you very much

I've resisted using BigTrouble and a couple of other autoshot timers for a while, because they made the bar stop counting when aimed started casting, which kind of defeats the purpose since it prevents you from knowing how badly you screwed up the timing of a shot.

I'm currently happy with Sorren's for my autoshot timing needs, but it's good to see other people also see how annoying it is for an autoshot timer to stop doing its job.

hehe, well, i coded BigTrouble mostly around how i wanted it to work, i never thought it would be usefull to not have Aimed shot interrupt the autoshot bar, since pre.20 there wasnt a bow/gun/xbow in game that was slow enough to allow an Aimed shot within an autoshot cycle, so in essence you would always end up with an autoshot after the aimedshot.

Post 2.0 the game is a different, since now Aimedshot resets the autoshot timer after its fired it kinda still makes sense in my mind to reset the autoshot bar for the shot, damn, i cant remember what the logic is in LittleTrouble

Oh well, in the end, its finding the mod that works best for you, but if you have any suggestions on how to improve this mod i would gladly hear em.

suggestions, hmmmm... wands too? gotta wait for the wand cooldown to finish before casting a spell, so it'd be handy to have a bar in the middle

Actually, having just my normal castbar look like your (aimedshot) version would be amazing!

Can the bar be made translucent?

Hello,

I've only recently started using LittleTrouble and I find it really helpful having a visual indication of my auto-shot timer.

Is it possible to make the bar translucent please? I've looked through the options but apart from color, I'm not sure anything relates.

You see I like having the bar there, but I don't need it to dominate my view. I just need to have a rough guide of when I can squeeze in a special ability.

Thanks!

Can you please make a feature to disable the text and/or the timer?

That would be so awesome, else I just love this addon. Really helps when you kite

Thank you very much Fleetfoot!

Bug
If you set a parameter (Like bar height, width etc) from the new menu by typing in the value it doesn't save it. If you set it by the slider, it does save it however.

A subtle placement: The XP/Rep Bar
I had an idea. Please, tell me what you think!

I'm kinda new to using an Auto-shot timer, but I see it kinda like a Musical Metronome. I have chosen to avoid using many timer add-ons in the past because I feel like I'm playing an industrial control panel, not a graphical adventure!

Why not use some of the existing screen real estate to place the bar?

Make the bar very thin and very wide and place it over the Default Blizzard XP/Reputation bar.
When you're in ranged combat, the bar would black out your XP/Rep bar and become a very wide & thin Auto-shot timer. It's something you can keep in the edge of your vision. A subtle timer bar, not a bar taking up screen real-estate! As soon as you're out of combat it is hidden and the XP/Reputation you choose to display is visible again.

Now to accomodate this you'd need an option to place the bar on top of the Default Blizzard UI. I've tried it now and the default Blizzard UI Rep/XP bar takes the top over the Ltrouble bar.

You could also set this idea up as a template.

Thanks again!

Well, i think you just forgot to hit return after you had typed in the new value, just typing in the new value doesnt set it, you need to hit return also

Its an interesting idea, but tbh i suspect it would be kinda hairy to code.

D'oh

RE: Hitting Enter!
D'oh. I guess I didn't find that intuitive, but thanks, I'll do that!

Ok, is there any chance you could add an option to make LittleTrouble on-top of other frames?

You see I can already set up what I'm suggesting. That is an overlay of an existing XP/Rep bar. The problem is that Ltrouble is automatically hidden behind the Blizzard XP/Rep bar. I need to be able to keep LittleTrouble on top somehow.

Is there a minor modification I could make to achieve this please?

Thanks again!

Hi,
atm I use KhartussTimers but I wanted another autoshotbar.
I tried your littletrouble and bigtrouble with my german client. But littletrouble will only show the autoshot following to the aimed, and bigtrouble only shows the frist castet autoshot. After this they won't show anything.
Is this intended? How can solve this problem?

Thank you!

Both don't work with the german client. I tried Sorren's Timers (Ace2-Version) and it didn't work either. Maybe it's a problem in Ace2?

@habik, Efryse: Hmmm, that sucks, cant really think of a reason it would be a ace2 problem. The only thing i can think of is that the german translation for AutoShot is wrong.

In LittleTrouble.lua, at line 40, can you check the translation for Auto Shot and see if it is wrong or right?

Changed it to
Code:
["Auto Shot"] = "Automatischer Schuss",
Seems to work correct.

Indeed, thx for the reply, the new version of LittleTrouble also contains those changes.
