Perl Classic Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 10.05
by: Global [More]

If you like this mod, please vote for it!

What is Perl Classic?
Perl Classic Unit Frames are a complete rewrite of the original mods by Perl. They replace the default Player, Pet, Target, Target of Target, Party, and Party Pet frames and add dedicated frames for many other units (Focus, Focus Target, Party Target, Target of Target of Target). It has been a high priority to maintain the look and feel or the original Perl mods while expanding functionality. The mod has been recoded for performance and is built around the Blizzard UI usage of events.

Q&A
-----

Q: I'm seeing double party buffs for some reason, what gives?
A: 99% of the time this is caused by CT_PartyBuffs. Simply remove the mod and you will return to having one set of party buffs.

Q: I am having massive dead spots for clicking on some of the unit frames, what's wrong?
A: This can be caused by a number of mods, but the most common seems to be CT_MovableParty. Please remove this mod as Perl can be moved without the use of this mod.

Q: The default party frames are showing up with red lightning bolts. What's going on?
A: As of version 1.503 of CT_RaidAssist this should no longer be caused by CTRA. The settings for this are now located in the WoW settings under Interface Options -> Basic -> Raid -> Hide Party Interface.

Q: Do you support ArcaneBar?
A: Yes, it is included in your download of Perl Classic.

Q: Will you be adding any features to Perl_PlayerBuff?
A: No, my coding for this mod goes as far as making sure it 'works.' If anyone would like to expand upon it, feel free to do so.

Q: Where are the raid frames?
A: As of 2.0 I no longer code raid frames for Perl Classic. Luckily, X-Perl's raid frames work great alongside Perl Classic. X-Perl's raid frames (and the unit frames themselves) can be found here: http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/3416/

Q: The scaling is all messed up! What do i do?
A: I recommend setting the scale to that of the UI if you are having issues. Open the options menu via "/perl" or the Black Pearl icon on the minimap and set the scale accordingly under the "All" tab.

Q: I am having an issue not listed in this FAQ, what can I do?
A: First, update *every* mod. I do not support ancient outdated and unmaintained mods. If you have double checked that everything is up to date, post on any of the Perl Classic mod pages and I'll be glad to help you narrow down the issue or give suggestions to help find a solution.

Q: Can you add this feature?
A: I'm sure it's possible, but the primary purpose of this mod is to 'modernize' the original Perl mod so that it doesn't slow your game down.

This is mostly just preference. The civilian type will display to the right of the class/mob type frame. Text placement is really just how me and that author prefer to have the info. Doubt I'll be adding any of this. It's just a few of the differences between the mods.

:(

having the stuff displayed separately from the frame (in another box) makes the frame size pretty big. why have it bigger than necessary i know i can scale it so it's the size i want, but then it scales down the stuff i actually want to see too small. oh well it was worth a shot to ask right

Yup, doesn't hurt to ask, you could always tweak the position of the frames so it fits into the name frame. Not sure how it would look or turn out, but it may be worth it to mess around with it.

Target Frame

With the new version my target frame does not lock. Locked is checked in the configuration screen. But I can still move the Frame around

Are you using any mods like MoveAnything! or Visor?

I use moveanything! everything had been working fine.

Something must have caused a glitch.

I deleted the Perl Saved Variables and logged back in. I had to set everything up again. But at least everything is working fine again.

The target frame is locking and unlocking like normal

I downloaded the mod yesterday and i can confirm that it still doesn't let you right click a friendly player who's in your group that is too far away.

ps. Can you please add a distance check for the options of when you right click a person(I mean for example the option "duel" is always pushable, even if the distance is too far away).

Ok, for any future person reporting this. The lack of options that pop up due to distance is not a PCUF issue. 1.11 changed how menus and distance work for some reason. I can confirm personally that giving a player a raid icon works while they are in view. This is an issue that should be reported to Blizzard so that maybe they will revert menu behavior. If I am mistaken on this issue, feel free to point me at some code that will remedy this problem. As far as I know though, this is part of 1.11.

2 quick questions

is it possible to get rid of the empty space between teh party members here:

i dont show party member buffs/debuffs so that empty space is always empty.

also, is it possible to show me (Player) at the top of the party list as well as in the separate Player frame?

thanks!

Just adjust the Spacing option on the party frame to make the gap disappear. After that, just move the party frame right underneath the player frame.

hmm, i didnt see a spacing option in the party options menu i must be blind, sorry :P

i like to have my Player frame in my upper left of the screen as well as first in the list of party members.

any way to do that?

when im in a party it's much easier to watch one area of the screen to see my hp + my party's hp/mana/etc. but if i'm solo or in a raid where i dont expect healing, i like it in the upper left.

if there's no option built in already to do it, might there be an easy piece of code i could copy/paste or add in to the files somewhere? or will that screw it up

thanks again for all your help

I'm not sure what the problem is. Why don't you just drag the party frame up a little bit so it lays against the player frame? By default, the player frame is already in the upper left corner, so it's just a matter of moving the party frame up some isn't it?

meh

i like my player frame in upper left corner, and party (all 5 members) shown on the right side of my screen under the minimap. cant move it to the left cuz thats where i have my extra bar of buttons!

maybe instead of giving the option to display my player frame a 2nd time when in a group, maybe make it possible to Show Blizzard Portrait (Player) Frame in addition to the perl frame? that would work!

thanks for your help

This wouldn't be an official option, but I can tell you how to do it. Open Perl_Player.lua. Comment out the code in the initilization function that kills the Blizzard player frame. It should be easy to find with my comments in the code. Next, go to the "Player_Update_Once" or something similar function and comment out the PlayerFrame:Hide line, or something similar. That should turn the player frame back on.

woot~

you rock! thanks man

edit: i commented out line 195
Code:
Perl_clearBlizzardFrameDisable(PlayerFrame);
but i cannot find the second thing you say to comment out.

i found line 273: function Perl_Player_Update_Once()

but nothing jumps out at me in there.

sorry for all the questions, i really do appreciate your help
