This file removes all* combat sound files from the game so that you can clearly hear your addon sounds (and also boss speeches!).
I tried to filter out all boss emotes and speeches/events in this version. Mistakes may happen of course, but I'm quite happy with it.

If you want 100% muted ingame sound, check out the other file here.


Installation:
Extract the .rar into /Data directly so that you have a /Data/Sound directory.


* Note:
It may not remove 100% of the combat sounds, especially if Blizzard decided to add a new spell or alter existing ones. Some sounds are pesky little buggers that hide somewhere else. If you identify them, let me know, and I will add them to this file.


This mod was inspired by silverwind's Bossmod Sound Fix (while game is muted). It does however not rely on files with zero byte content but on "real" muted valid sound files (ogg and wav). The zero byte sound files gave me problems while playing addon sounds, where half of them just didn't play.
I don't have this problem with valid files.

I updated the addon to include the targetting sounds. As a DPS, I truly never noticed them.
I also removed two roar type sounds, which hopefully will remove the sounds of the Rally ability from the Executors of the Caliph in Vortex Pinnacle and Cowering Roar of the Mindless Horrors in Shadowfang Keep.


I still didn't find the sound files for phase 2 in the Cho'gall encounter.

I'm not 100% sure of this but sometimes in Stormwind over by the training dummies it sounds like I'm in the pre-Cata event, hearing the screams of scared citizens. If that makes any sense.

Of course. It doesn't alter any files, it simply adds muted ones.
Just delete the "Sound" folder in your "Data" directory and you're back to normal.

Maybe beacause thats part of the DK questline, when DKs move around in Stormwind, citiziens start to scream and throw old fruits an stuff towards them

Some boss sounds muted?

Thanks for fixing the party targetting sound <3 Now I can have boss sounds even higher without that annoying sounds.

But something I noticed. Aren't all boss sounds from Cataclysm bosses enabled? Or atleast the speeches? I've been progressing on Nefarian for some days. And when someone got a fraps of the first kill I decided to see if I could datamine some of his sounds for the Video edit. And I noticed that there are alot of sounds there that I can't hear because they might be muted by this addon. And the only reason I have it is to hear all boss speeches without annoying background noise(It's retarded that blizzard hasn't done some option to enable or disable boss speeches..)

Anyway. For example in phase two. You can't hear "I hope you can swim... In molten Lava." (VO_BD_Nefarian_Event08).

Is this just me that are too concentrated at boss battles =) Or is some boss speeches actually missing in the current version?

As far as I know, I've excluded all boss emotes from being muted. I specifically looked for VO_BD_Nefarian_Event08 again, and it's not included in the combat only version, so it should play.
I haven't modified any .MPQ or .DBC files, so anything that isn't replaced by a muted version is still available in game.


That being said, there's of course the possibility of errors and mistakes, so that some emotes may be missing, and some sounds still playing that are not specifically emotes (the latter being more likely than the first).


And thirdly, it is also possible that Blizzard simply made a mistake, and didn't add the entry for this emote so that it never plays. Or they decided to remove it.


Note:
You can to use the /run PlaySoundFile() API command to check the sound files. If it's playing there, it won't be muted for boss encounters.
Look up the syntax on WoWWiki or wherever.

It doesn't block addon sounds as long as they bring their own sound files.
If however the addon uses a sound file that is included in this pack, it will be mute as well.

I want to remove JUST the new mount sound. Actually it's not new it's just the dismount sound added to the beginning as well

Take any of the .ogg and .wav file and copy them to \Sound\Item\UseSounds and \Sound\INTERFACE. Rename them to iEating1.ogg resp. iEating1.wav.
I haven't testet this, but theoretically it should work. If not, some deeper digging is required, and I don't intend to do that.

I can't reconstruct this, what mounts are causing the sounds?
Actually none of my mounts are making any sounds while mounting/dismounting.
