Rewrite/update cancelled, due to lack of time and energy.
I really don't see a need for the mod anymore.

Previously known as Xolpass and Xolan's Compass Bar (fan update by Jaim Sandar). Periscope is built upon the latter.

Periscope is mod that allows you to navigate with the use of a periscope. It displays directions, pings, corpse and custom destinations. Future version will include support for other map-mods, for example adding TomTom waypoints to the mod.

Commands:

* /ps - Displays the help
* /ps toggle - Toggles the options window
* /ps xx,yy - Displays a custom destination on the compass
* /ps clear - Clears your custom destination
* /periscope - Alternative to /ps
* /xp - Alternative to /ps, I left it in for ease of transition

Not localized, but should work nevertheless on any client.

Thank you Jaim Sandar for keeping the mod going while I was gone!

Changed the name to Periscope as it describes the mod better.

Went through the source code to properly unify the mod as Periscope.

Reverted the version number as I never intended Xolpass v042 to be seen as a complete mod, but rather a work in progress.

Added a display of your corpse.

Added chat output for pings.

Slash commands are now /periscope and /ps. I left in /xp for this version though to ease the transition. It will be gone later.

Added a pointer. You can set it to point either North or South. This will make turning in the heat of battle even quicker!

Fixed an error at startup.

It should be just the fixed AddOn now. If you downloaded it before, you don't need to download it again. Just delete the "Changed..." folder if you want to.

Anyway, since WoW 2.2 I had to delete the xolpass.lua file inside SavedVariables before the compass frame was visible. For some reason it disappeared, off screen or something. After I deleted the SV file it came back in view, in the default center position. I hope it works for you, too. Edit: deleting the SV file worked on one computer but not another, but I found another thing that fixed it on that one. In each of your World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<account_name>\<realm_name>\<char_name> folders, there is a file named "layout-cache.txt". Open that file with a text editor (I don't think Notepad will work), and search the text file for "Xolpass". Delete the entire section that looks something like this: Frame: XolpassForm FrameLevel: 1 Anchor: BOTTOM X: 2 Y: 27 W: 230 H: 20 Also delete the files, as described above: Warcraft\WTF\Account\<account_name>\SavedVariables\Xolpass.lua and Xolpass.lua.bak and it should work. Note: These fixes are only necessary if you have already been using Xolpass before WoW 2.2, and maybe not even then. Last edited by Jaim Sandar : 10-04-07 at 11:17 AM.

Any chance of being able to shrink the scale of the entire compass bar? I like to keep it at the full 360 degree view, but this makes it quite wide. Thanks for your time.

Maybe that exactly that, but I'm sure something will come to mind. Meantime, I kinda like the simple: "Compass Bar" name. Thank you for providing the 99.9999% completed and functioning base for this cool little AddOn. I'm happy that I was able to help to make it 100%. For users: There is no new update to the AddOn.
