Hi, my name is Thaoky, and I'm an Altoholic

Altoholic is an Ace 3 add-on written for people who dedicate most of their time to leveling alts, and who want to have as much information as possible in one place.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

I am back in the game since 28/12/2020.

If you are upgrading from a version below 9.0.003, YOU MUST CLEAR YOUR SAVED VARIABLES !!

This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

About the add-on:

The add-on has been in development since December 2007 and was officially released in late March 2008. It provides you information about your alts (bags, mails, AH, etc...) without having to reconnect them all the time.

About the author:

I was born in '76 (you do the math) and I work as a Project Manager + Software Architect + Full Stack Web Dev (yup, multiple hats) in a large multinational, so my coding time is limited, and Work > Gaming.

I live in Belgium, and obviously play on EU only.

Assistance will be provided on a best effort basis, but in any case always be polite and respectful when asking for help, I am neither a teenager, nor a punching ball. I am a cool guy with people who are cool with me. Respect that rule and we'll be fine.

2020/12/28: Due to Teelo's actions, I have reverted his changes and resumed development based on my latest version of the code. Some of his new features are temporarily not available anymore, some are gone forever. The main Shadowlands features will be back though, just be patient.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 8.0 : As with every new expansion, many things have changed in the API, and it is REQUIRED to clear your Saved Variables for the addon.
This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

There WILL be bugs if you use your old files without cleaning them first.
Some fixes to work around API changes are too time consuming, so cleaning is required. A meagre price to pay once per expansion.

- DataStore_Crafts: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- This concludes the conversion of all DataStore modules to make them compatible with all versions.

10.2.006 (20/11/2023)

- DataStore_Quests: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- DataStore_Talents: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- DataStore_Reputations: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- DataStore_Containers: Fixed COMMON_NUM_BAG_SLOTS to be NUM_BAG_SLOTS + 1 for retail, and NUM_BAG_SLOTS for non-retail, instead of the opposite.

10.2.005 (17/11/2023)

- Fixed an issue where sorting the bags while the merchant frame is opened would trigger a slow down (Thanks Belazor !)
- DataStore_Containers: Removed an invalid test when closing a bank frame.
- Events : fixed a Lua error when a tracked item like an egg actually hatches.

Not sure if you can right now without the updates for 4.3 patch. But....if you can, you should be able to right click and remove them on the guilds tab.

For me at least Altoholic is no longer correctly updating what my bags contain. This is a big problem for me when I try to use the sync function between my main account and my secondary account since I have to manually check what items I got in stock and not.

I had to uninstall/deleted mine until there is an update, because I hated getting errors every five seconds. (You can probably just choose to not enable it [disable], but I hate having outdated add-ons installed).

I am looking forward to the update (when it does come), but I understand real life vs. spare-time/hobby project.

Errors as in - Lua interpreter backtraces?

It worked before 4.3, i used it to stock up on enchanting scrolls and see what items was on my other accounts characters. it showed in the tooltip, so it certainly worked before.

I haven't received a reply concerning my last post, so I'm re-posting it in the hopes that someone can tell me how to fix this problem. I don't know how anyone could play World of Warcraft with multiple toons (especially across multiple servers) and NOT use Altaholic. It simply IS, the single best addon out there.

I tried to view my talent builds for all toons, and even compare with other friends builds, and apparently there is an option missing to look at my builds, or, just is not functioning.

I cursor-over the Tree on a hill with stars behind it, to select the build I want to review through Altoholic, on whatever toon I selected to review.

I can view the Glyphs (*except Glyph of Dark Succor, which Blizzard had broken and tried to fix), just not any of the talent builds themselves.

After reviewing the addons I have and comparing those with my friends addons, and all the settings of Altoholic, we both have the same things going on, with the exception of, he doesn't have AtlasLoot, at all.

What do I need to do to make this function work, because he can do it, but I can't?

Edited: I can also view all my characters' professions, to include all the recipes/patterns/etc they know, mail that I haven't even seen myself on another toon as it was mailed while I was on a different toon when it was mailed and haven't switched, etc. I can also view all the spells and abilities for all my characters from the Altoholic Spellbook.

The version I am using is Altoholic v4.2.001 by Thaoky

This has become an absolutely essential addon for me, right up there with my DBM and Grid, and it makes playing Wow so much more enjoyable. I am thrilled to hear that you are still supporting this and plan to for a while. Second, I have a feature request. I love that I can see all my character's currencies such as current valor and conquest points. However, the one thing I still have to log into each toon to see is the progress towards the weekly cap. Is there anyway that you could implement this into Altoholic? I would love to be able to have it show me how far into cap I am for the week, i.e. 800\1000 valor, in addition to the total points. Thanks

I didn't said it would not show any data.
It just often show bogus data ("often" = "i can reproduce the issue at will").
It doesn't work any worse right now for me.
