BobUI BETA

Version: 6.0.9b1
by: 10leej [More]

There's a lot to be done for legion, first I need beta access second I need to get some testing going third I need to work more on gameplay and maybe less on the addons so I don;t burn myself out on staring at lua scripts 12 hours a day so issues are likely to be resolved slowly.
--10leej
BobUI beta versions are listed here.

BobUI description:
BobUI is a Default UI modification/replacement/enhancement (call it what you want it really is just a skinned default UI) addon written and intended to be efficient and big free while still retaining the functionalities of a fully usable UI. To break it down that means BobUI is the default user interface that's been modified to look better while being extremely flexible (practically every part of this UI can be modified in some way).
Click Here for the stable versions --Heavily dated, don't use right now

File bug reports appropriately (aka don't just post an error) by using the bug report button.
Same goes for feature requests

Included files with this download
!Beautycase --Link is to NeavUI download as that contains latest version
BobSkins --Cause we love skins should work for recount, skada, tinydps, omen, and a few other things
BobUI --Well that is the addon of course
BobUI-Setup --Just sets chat frames
Click Menu
oUF
oUF_Bob
oUF_Smooth Update
Numeration --slightly modified
rThreat
tullaCC
tullaRange
Bugger and !Buggrabber are also installed use these for posting errors

Release Cycle Notes:
I will target to release stable versions when all errors on the below "To Do's" list is complete or deemed ready (if there's a new feature)

Key things here in the version numbers!

example
6.0.6b3sc

6.0.6 is the version I'm working on

a means it's alpha the number immediately after is a revision of that alpha (it also means I expect it to not work)
b means it's beta the number immediately after is a revision of that beta

sc means it's whats referred to as a "stable candidate" this means I like how it works so if no one reports anything for a week I update the stable BobUI page as well as the other various addons associated with the beta candidate
Known Issues:
High Medium Low
  • Begin work on WoW 7.0 updates
  • Seems to be a spawn issue for group frames in combat
  • Nameplates don't work
  • Click-Menu: Calender does not open
  • groups frames have long character names need to shorten names oUF_Bob group frames
  • Current actionbars having a ghost issue for bar 4 and 5 in 2x6 layout with the mouseover fading enabled
  • Click-Menu: Can't open toy box, heirlooms, calender, pets, mounts in combat
To Do's:
  • Add debuff support to group frames
  • Skin the pet battle UI
  • filter raid auras in oUF_Bob raid frames

6.0.9b1
So I was gone a good while, sorry. This update is really just a bunch of .toc updates.

6.0.8b1
Various tweaks don't remember them sorry
Finally working indicators for oUF_Bob group frames
changed config.lua file in oUF_Bob

Add oUF_AuraWatch
Add oUF Smooth Update

There's a lot to be done for legion:
-first I need beta access
-second I need to get some testing going
-third I need to work more on gameplay and maybe less on the addons

So what do I mean by the third option?
I spent roughly 90% of my time staring at lua scripts last year when I was last working on BobUI this time around I'm gonna try 20/80, this means I'm probably not gonna be too worried about adding features and might even drop out support for some components entirely.
BobUI means a lot to me as it was my first coding project and as much as I love it I look at it nowadays and it just plain looks hacked together, but I'm not willing to rewrite the whole thing. Instead I'm gonna probably gonna keep going what I like best about BobUI.
Basically I'm gonna stop appealing to the masses and build BobUI just for myself. I'll still post updates on here but I'm not gonna be taking feature requests.

Sorry if the fans of my work are dissapointed, but I just want to play WoW again.

don't know about yt, never uploaded any video ^^

though, watching your video i've got 2 questions/1 suggestion:
- in alDamageMeter, hide the title. looks better
- DBM Positioning, is that done by hand or script? (if script, and that existed before, my DBM bars remained in their default position)
- Cooldown Tracker below PlayerFrame. Is that new as well? i can see that you have Powerword: Solace there, never noticed anything of that kind with my priest

if you'd like to, i'll try to record an lfr run and upload it (or send you the file and you upload it yourself, if you prefer)

edit:
another question... you say your resolution is 1600x900, and everything fits. though on 1680x1050 it looks messed up [ok, played with the scale, should have done so before...^^]

2nd edit:
took a look at your configuration
line 200
Code:
border = 'Interface\\AddOns\\BobUI\\media\\textureBuff',
(cfg.buff)

that texture does not exist
DBM was hand positioned, cooldown tracking is done by TellMeWhen, and the popups are my own thing borrowing code I'm not allowed to redistribute.

Also I'm keeping the title out of preference as I'm a raid leader so I'm looking at the different meters in it like Healing, dispels, damage ect. the title tells me what meter I'm looking at when I need to know.

Also you can remove that line it's not called anywhere.

i'm afraid not :/
as i've used allez' own repo (https://github.com/Allez/alDamageMeter)

but that version has at least one fix that the version here on WoWI does not have (target check while summing up some details the way i understood it, only did a quick line compare)
Ah ok

EDIT:
After doing a few test runs it seems there's a taint issue in alDamagemeter, workig on isolating it

after downloading alDamagemeter looks like allez doesn't provide easy access to frame anchors. change line 899 of alDamageMeter.lua to
Code:
MainFrame:SetPoint(SetPoint("CENTER", BobPanelD, 0, 0)
as for the texture change that to "Interface\\Addons\\BobUI\\media\\statusbar"

Also, I'll see about moving that calender invite notification a little more to the left for ya that way it's not cut off screen in the next update.
did that positioning, along with some other things...
line 1-4
Code:
local anchor = "CENTER"
local x, y = 0, 0
local font = [[Fonts\ARIALN.TTF]]
local texture = [[Interface\Addons\BobUI\media\statusbar]]
inside defaults (line 7 to 25)
Code:
barheight = 15,
maxbars = 7,
width = 310,
backdrop_color = {0, 0, 0, 0},
border_color = {0, 0, 0, 0},
hidetitle = true,
line 110
Code:
GameTooltip:SetOwner(self, 'ANCHOR_TOPRIGHT', 0, self:GetHeight())
new line 143
Code:
fstring:SetTextColor(1,1,1)
resulting line 257 (without the previous textcolor it'd be 256)
Code:
GameTooltip:SetOwner(self, "ANCHOR_TOPRIGHT")
line 903 (or 902)
Code:
MainFrame:SetPoint(anchor, BobPanelD, x, y)
i used the github version as base for my edits

the alpha edits were done just now, forgot about them yesterday. can't get a proper Screenshot now (only on 1680x1050 right now) though

edit: also updated the embedded version of LibBossIDs-1.0

Thats an idea. Never worked with anything like that though. Wouldn't know where to start.
well, there are some addons here on WoWI that support setting up addons using more or less the same method.

set up the addon, get the resulting settings (most of the time stored as table inside the respective SavedVariables file, marked inside the toc) and overwrite that table at runtime (either one time only or everytime some kind of event like player login is fired)

although i prefer the lua based setup (did some work on alDamageMeter regarding the integration into BobUI and am quite impressed on how easy that was )

edit: that's what it looks like

(yes, that's lfr with a sh*t load of hunters...)
