Version: 5.7.138
by: Mikord, Resike

Announcements:

  • Version 5.7.134 is updated to work with Warlord of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 and fixes the font preview issues.
  • If you are having issues with the fonts "resetting" on initial game load, update to Version 5.7.137.
  • Version 5.7.138 corrects issues with several triggers like Kill Shot and Hammer of Wrath.

Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.

Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class (including CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS support).
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.
    • Create custom animation styles.
    • See the included API.html file for reference information.

The trigger system documentation doesn't reference a search pattern option anymore, because the old way of searching is no longer possible due to the way Blizzard changed the combat log in Patch 2.4.

I think what you are seeing is the general lua search pattern reference I left in the documentation because it will once again be useful information in a future version.

Anyways, for the time being, you can't create triggers for that. I have been working on a new trigger system for MSBT 5.2 that will allow you to have the level of flexibility for these types of things.

Unfortunately, I've had little to zero free time lately due to RL events, but I haven't stopped working on it. It's just been taking longer than I'd like. The core of the system has been done for a bit. It's the GUI part that allows you to set everything in a usable manner that I have yet to finish.

Setting up sounds via triggers

Mik - Hi there, this is working great so far, I have some for kidney shot, sheep, berserker rage, simply added the sound files to the sounds directory and then loaded it in a trigger and they work great.

There are a few that I can't seem to figure out that wont trigger, and those are counterspell, kick, pummel to think of a few. I am trying to set them as debuff like the other ones I have, however it's not picking them up despite it being in the combat log.

Any advice, it works flawless for the other triggers I have and i use them as debuff, put the wave file in there exact as its spelled and then make sure to trigger them on all classes.... is it because those wouldn't be classified as debuffs ?

letme know but great stuff so far

I keep getting an error message that's very easy to duplicate:

[2008/05/16 00:15:02-2-x2]: MikScrollingBattleText-5.11\MSBTMain.lua:928: bad argument #2 to 'string_gsub' (string expected, got nil)
MikScrollingBattleText-5.11\MSBTParser.lua:906: in function <...terface\AddOns\MikScrollingBattleText\MSBTParser.lua:876>
Just involves somebody else in group/raid looting mobs with coins on it. Have updated already, but cannot use it in raids atm with this glaring message appearing all night for each corpse looted.

BTW: Went back, re-downloaded the addon. trashed SV's, etc... Same deal. It also happens out of group, too as I just found out.

Abacinate:

You can't current trigger on those. You'll be able to in 5.2 though.

Bebe:

You aren't running the latest version. Patch 2.4.2 removed some global variables I was making use of. It's fixed in the latest version though. Make sure you are up to v5.13 ("/msbt version" in game to check it).

Also, some people have been experiencing issues with WoWInterface serving up old versions, so clear your browser cache if you notice the zip file you are getting does not reflect the current version.

Nice thanks for the update.

One thing that would be nice, is a way to "test" the triggers from the setup screen. as it stands now if i want to test one of my sound triggers im heading out into durotar to duel people lol

Please ignore the update flag.

I'm setting up the new SVN capability including beta pushes offered by WoWI.

The current version is still 5.13.

I posted this on Curse, but figured I would cross post the question, as someone may know;

On using Spell Reflect (as a warrior) it doesn't show the damage that spell reflect does to the target. Is there a way to set that up? Or is it no longer supported due to the combat log changes?

Luxus:

I will probably have something beta wise next week.

Nahima:

There are actually two events generated per spell reflect - the reflect message itself, and an outgoing damage event.

For example, let's say you reflect a Frostbolt. You will see the reflect message "[frostbolt icon] Reflect!" followed by the outgoing damage event "[frostbolt icon] 1835".

Huh... neither are showing up, and I've tested it a couple times. I'll test it again, then delete saved variables and fresh install and see if I can get it to work.

Edit: Ok, so I tested it in battle and defensive stance, and on outgoing what it reads off is just "dmg (spell)" it doesn't specify as reflect. On the notification scroll it tells me I've gained and then lost spell reflection.

So, killing some terrokar forest casters, they were scorching me, and my outgoing scroll reads;

242 (Scorch)

And there's nothing on the incoming scroll to correspond. Going to go delete saved variables and the addon, then reinstall it, and see if the same thing happens.

Editx2: Same thing, no "Reflect!" message anywhere. Going to try it out in pvp next, but for casting mobs, it just prints the damage as if my warrior was casting scorch instead of tagging it as reflected. (And I checked the Events, it's supposed to say it's reflected, all are completely default, and everything is checked.)

Hi! Can anybody please help me out?

I'm trying to make a custom trigger that will alert me if I've been silenced (like those at isle of quel danas naga's) and if it fades out. I was able to make a trigger for when Polymorph breaks, but I cant manage to figure out about the trigger for being silenced and out of silence.

Thank you so much!

Nahima:

Are you at version 5.13? The behavior your describing is exactly how it was in prior versions. The damage done from a reflect is treated as if you were the one casting the spell. I didn't add the specific reflect message itself until version 5.12.

To clarify, you won't see "[icon] Reflect (amount)!". What you should see though is "[icon] Reflect!", next event "[icon] amount". If the first reflect message isn't showing up in the latest version, then it's possible there is a bug I need to fix.

Tabs:

The process is the same as for polymorph breaking except it would be a Debuff Application with an application number of 1 instead of a Debuff Fade.

I plan to have a beta version of 5.2 with the new trigger system and a greatly optimized event parser up by the end of the weekend. I know that people had come up with some clever triggers with the old capability of search patterns, and my goal is to bring that level of flexibility back into the system.

Since I'd like to get the code out and get some testing on it as soon as possible, I won't have documentation for the new trigger system in the readme in the beta release, but it should be fairly straightforward to use.

As the beta test commences, I'll be getting the trigger guide and FAQs updated.
