FuBar MonkeyQuestFu  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v1.1.1
by: Grayson [More]

Displays the MonkeyQuest window in FuBar.

Requires:
FuBar
MonkeyQuest
MonkeyLibrary (part of MonkeyQuest)

I'm always struggling with the placement of my MonkeyQuest window, especially when i have a lot of quests in it.
The author of MonkeyQuest had made a plugin for it in BhaldieInfoBar. Since i'm using FuBar i borrowed some of his code and made a plugin for FuBar.

TO DO:
- Find a better way of integrating MonkeyQuest into FuBar, current way is too much of a 'hack' to my liking.

Any help/advise is appreciated! I'm a beginner in Lua/Ace2 coding so any tips are welcome.

Known bugs:
- "Attach to minimap" does not work when the menu option "Open MonkeyQuest on Click" is not selected. The MonkeyQuest frame will not show when attached to the minimap. It now displays a tooltip text saying this.

v1.1.1
- fixed the updating of the quest objective in the tooltip when you have "Show objective completeness in tooltips" selected.

v1.1.0
- added toggle to switch between displaying MonkeyQuest in FuBar or just using MonkeyQuestFu to open the MonkeyQuest window by clicking on it. Setting is available via the menu ('Open MonkeyQuest on Click').
- added French and German localization. I got most of it from the MonkeyQuest localizations, for the rest i used babelfish so the translations might be a bit wonky Please send me improvements if you find any errors.
- fixed menu settings not keeping their values (I had MonkeyBuddy enabled and it was resetting the values. It now works fine with MonkeyBuddy enabled)
- expanded menu settings (added colour setting, etc. Essentially all the options originally available via MonkeyBuddy)
- some other bug fixes / code cleanup

v1.0.2
- fixed updating of number of quests in fubar ( i.e. 9/25). It now updates when you ad/remove a quest.

@Toran: FYI it is possible since v1.1.0 to just use MonkeyQuestFu to show and hide the MonkeyQuest frame. So in effect you can use it as you described.

No, dragging the Mquest popup is not possible.
Perhaps if you change the background alpha of the mquest popup so that it is no longer transparent, maybe that would help you? That way no other UI elements are interfering with the readability of the Mquest popup.
You can use the menu to do that (still buggy that part) or use MonkeyBuddy to change the Background alpha.

The only other way to do what you want is to disable FuBar_MonkeyQuestFu and use the default MonkeyQuest features. You can bind a key to minimize/maximize MonkeyQuest, that way the space it takes up is kept to a minimum when you minimize it.

I hope that helps you out.

I understand that I can drag the fubar plugin horizontally. I'm wondering if I can drag the mquest popup somewhere else. This way, when I rollover the fubar plugin, it pops up wherever i dragged the frame. I don't have a clear area above my fubar, so I need to move it up a bit.

When you mouse over the Fubar_MonkeyQuest button on your fubar you get a popup of the MonkeyQuest window attached to the location of your fubar_MonkeyQuest button.
It has the highest framestrata because default the petcontrol bar would go over it and obscure parts of the MonkeyQuest window.
You can use the menu to change the fontsize and Alpha of the MonkeyQuest window so it is more readable. Please note that i personally have problems with setting the alpha using the menu (it's on the known bugs list). So in the meantime you can use MonkeyBuddy to set it.

You can't drag the MonkeyQuest window. You can however drag the fubar_monkeyQuest button to any place on your fubar (depending on your position setting in the menu). Is that what you mean?

I hope this will help you, if not please say so and i'll try again

Thanks for undertaking this. I have my fubar at the bottom and my main controls at the bottom. When I click on this, it brings up my quests, but it's on top of my other stuff and it is barely readable. How can I move it? Just drag? Does it lock and stay in place?
