Stuf Unit Frames (and Raid)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 9.2.101
by: totalpackage, Uitat

Stuf is a replacement to StellarUF. Stuf has the same initial layout and feel of StellarUF, but Stuf is highly customizable.

Do not expect much since this mod's purpose is to replace the Blizzard's main unit frames, not other unit frame mods. I'll most likely deny requests to copy random features.

Noteworthy Recent Additions:

  • Option to only show custom text on mouse-over
  • Latency indicator for player casting bar
  • Arena Frames
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icons
  • Option to use Lua instead of text patterns for advanced users
  • Option to save per character

Supported Units:
  • Player, pet, and pet target
  • Target, target of target, and target of target of target
  • Focus and target of focus
  • Party with their pets and targets
  • Arena with their pets and targets (new in v3.1.005)
  • StufRaid - main raid, raid pets, and raid roles (tanks/assist) and their target and target of target (does not and will not support oRA2/CTRA MT/PT)

Notable Features:
  • Easy transition from Blizzard default frames
  • Cast bars for the main units
  • Dispellable debuff visual
  • Target and focus timer bars for your buffs/debuffs
  • Threat bars on target and focus
  • Shaman totem timers, Death Knight rune bars, and Druid mana bar
  • Low memory and CPU usage compared to popular unit frame mods
  • Customization similar to Discord Unit Frames
  • LibSharedMedia-3.0 support for textures and fonts
  • Ace3 dialog config is used for the options GUI
  • Stuf_Range - LibRangeCheck-2.0 support for estimated distance on target and focus
  • Clique support for click-casting
  • ClassColors custom class color and ConfigMode support for one-button-config
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icon skins (may be buggy)

How to Use:
  • Basic - make sure Stuf_Options is enabled; it's required for initializing defaults and changing settings
  • Options menu - "/stuf" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
  • Hide party in raid - Stuf obeys Blizzard's option to "Hide Party Interface in Raid"
  • Show/Hide elements - many are hidden/shown by setting the alpha or color alpha to zero
  • Slider nudging - (bug Ace3 people for a better way), I do the following:
    1. Move your cursor over the text above the slider, a tooltip should be showing.
    2. Move your cursor up until the tooltip disappears.
    3. Left-click.
    4. Move your cursor back over the slider until the tooltip reappears.
    5. Now you can nudge using mouse wheel.
  • For sliders, you can also manually input values and press enter.
  • Many options, so I suggest checking each option one-by-one
  • StufRaid:
    • Options menu - "/stufraid" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
    • Basic - StufRaid does not require Stuf, and Stuf does not require StufRaid
    • Special text - install UTF8 to support special characters for the name text sub-string feature

Features Lacking (forever):
  • No profiles, but you can save per character. Profiles would at least double the memory usage (plus more for each profile you create) of Stuf due to its massive saved variables. Check out Reflux to add profiles options to Stuf and other mods.
  • Showing raid instead of party frames when in a party.
  • Advanced buff/debuff filtering for main units.
  • Switching frames when in vehicle
  • Full-featured casting bar (no GCD, breathe, cooldowns, etc)
  • Anything that would really kill performance and lack usefulness
  • Anything for which already has a great standalone mod
  • Anything picky about text that can be done using Lua text
  • Color health bars if mob is tapped

Known Issues:
  • You cannot right-click Stuf's player buff icon to cancel shape-shift forms (ie. druid forms and shadow form) since they're protected now.

Thanks for posting your pattern. It seems that since you're using a power-related tag in the same text as hpthreshold, hpthreshold sometimes uses power values to calculate the color. This is fixed in the version I just released.

Use the aura timer bars, enable cooldown pie only on your debuffs, or go back to Xperl. Sorry, but constantly resizing and repositioning dozens of icons during combat is not free.

Really love the many looks you can get out of your unit frames...my only problem is ive been using x-perl for so long and I can't get used to having small debuffs under target frame. With X-perl your debuffs on the target show up much much larger then everyone else's this way you can easily look there to see how much longer there up and what and when you need to recast them etc. Is there any way to increase the size of just your debuffs on the target?

@ Led ++ - In the next release, I'll add support for allowing multiple returns to support SetFormattedText, but if a PB LuaTexts uses DogTags functions, it won't work unless you rework it to fit Stuf.

Sorry, I would have to say no due to its performance requirements and lack of usefulness. I understand the few scenarios where it would be half useful, but not enough.

However, if you can work alternatives into your setup, there are text conditions for when health/mana isn't at max ("hp99" and "mp99") and the casting bar's flexibility allows you to make sure you notice it when it pops up.

totalpackage, I love these unit frames, and have been using them for a while.

Thanks for adding the fading based on combat/target/notarget/etc, which allowed me to finally get rid of my HUD mod and just use Stuf for that, since I didn't want to see it after combat.

I do have one request to that end. Is it possible to have an opacity condition based on mana/health not at max, and also one for casting?

Thanks for a great mod either way.

I doubt you can just simply copy & paste and expect it to work. Stuf provides the unit and pointer to its cache, and requires a text return. It seems that PB's LuaTexts still uses DogTags or special PB functions, so it definitely will not be compatible. In any case, I advise against using advance text if you lack the coding knowledge.

"Honestly, I haven't looked at the implementation in Stuf. So I really can't say. Lua itself of course will be the same, but I provide helper functions with are going to be different and I'm not sure if Stuf expects you to return a single string or the arguments to SetFormattedText like LuaTexts does."

Individual stratas for each element isn't necessary and can get messy. The correct strata for the main frames and frame levels for the elements should suffice for what you want. Moreover, what many people do is use a panel mod to parent their texture to whatever frame and set the frame levels. I've seen several people put Stuf's elements, including portraits, behind textures using kgPanels. Check out Elloria's compilations for examples.

Hi again, I have one other thing that I'm having problems with.

Is it not possible to change the layer strata on things?
Can I go into a .lua file of my profile and add something to make something change the layer strata? In my case, I want to make it so the portrait can fall behind a background and fit into a round frame, but there's no support for changing the layer strata in Stuf unfortunately.
So, anything I can add in my .lua that could help me, anyone?

Another question, could you perhaps take a quick look at the following topic:
http://elitistjerks.com/f32/t63351-l...s_new_dogtags/

And do you think it could be possible that Stuf's .lua input could produce the same texts?
Imo that would be very sweet.

There's really nothing more about tags than what is explained in the in-game guide. Only thing left is clever ways of using it.

Are you using "[hpthreshold:curhp]" ? I've tested this on party and target for 2 hours and it worked fine. Make sure you have the "Health Green Color" and "Health Red Color" in the Global options as green-ish and red-ish, respectively.

Probably just a random graphical glitch, or something that is out of my control.

Thanks for confirming this. I did fix a problem in the latest upload that occurred in Stuf_VisualHeal when either Stuf or StufRaid is disabled. I'm not 100% sure it will fix your problem, though.

It appears that enabling StufRaid somehow corrected the bug because when I disable StufRaid I no longer get the error and the options display for Visual Heal bars. I was getting this error for the Player and Party 1 unit frames.

However, my main issue still stands. The Visual heal bars do not work for me unless I have StufRaid enabled.

Anyway this is one of the better customiseable UF's atm. I'm liking it so far.
