LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

That doesn't change anything in my Addon.. It will continue to work just as it does now.

In case you did not have time to test it on the PTR I've done some tests with my favorites addons: LightHeaded is working but the frame is not positionned correctly and when you make the LightHeaded pane slide behind the questLog it's also not correctly positionned and it's almost impossible to make it appear again.

I'm aware of that, but that's a simple minor positioning change.

LightHeaded Resets Itself to First Comment

Hello. I just want to take a second to thank you for a VERY helpful addon that I've used for some time. Thanks for a job well done

I used to be able to thumb through the comments to the one that helped me the most, close the quest log and go closer to the area I needed to be, pull open the quest log again, and it'd be on the comment I left up before.

Now, every time I go into the quest log, it resets to the first page (the hierarchy of the quests, npc info, etc). I can't seem to get it to quit, and it's becoming annoying, especially if I went through 20-30 comments to find the one I wanted to use.

I appreciate somebody point me in the right direction to fixing this if it's something I did, or if a bug fix (or an option, if this is a feature) can be made if it's in the code. Thanks for your help.

There is another addon causing this issue, it's not something LightHeaded is doing. I suggest you start there with some troubleshooting, by disabling all other addons and verify that.. then trying to enable a few addons and see which might be causing it.

re onscreen arrow and text.

Hi.
Just installed. When I click on a coloured name I get a very indistinct red arrow and text indicating the direction of the char. How can I toggle this - as in switch it on or off - and/or alter its opacity?

edit:
Ok...I accidentally found out how to delete the waypoints...right clicking on the arrow. Can I ask why you do not include a readme with such information?

I have just recently started playing WoW, and have been trying out a few addons. I have noticed that none of those I have tried come with a proper user readme doc, detailing functionality...and what little information one occasionally gets is in a text doc with all spacings removed...so it's really difficult to read...like the one you include. Why is this?

Sorry to be a bit critical (your mod so far seems to be excellent) but I am used to using mods for single player rpgs like Oblivion etc, and they almost always come with a readme...in fact if a mod came with no readme I would discard it.

This is not a function of LightHeaded.

LightHeaded does come with a readme, but all the information you need is posted right here in the addon description. The functionality you are discussing is not a part of this mod.

Because we have websites like wowinterface that allow us to post detailed descriptions and screenshots. Most if not all of the information you need is always contained there. Since you have to come here to download the addon, we expect that you've read the information here.

But if that is not a function of lh how come it's only there when I install lh?

But as I say it was not there prior to your mod...

I suppose that's an answer. I still think mods should come with proper documentation...but that's just my opinion.

There's not really much to document, but I respect your opinion. The reason why the "clicking" only happens when you have LightHeaded is because that's the only time the panel is enabled. The addon that is actually displaying the waypoints is another addon entirely, so you'll need to look.

I'm the only author on any of my projects and my time can either be spent developing new features and fixing bugs, or writing documentation. Unfortunately i just don't have time to do both. I would gladly include a proper readme file for any of my addons, if someone is willing to help me construct it.

I have Cartographer installed...am I right to think LH is sending the coordinates or waypoint info to C and C is generating the arrow? And so the right click dialogue window that allows me clear the waypoints is a C function?

Correct, the arrow itself and all functionality relating to it (except the sending of waypoints) would be from Cartographer. Alternatively, TomTom provides similar functionality.

Been trying this out for a while now and im wondeing a small thing, is it possible to change the alpha ONLY when LH is in its "hidden" mode behind the questpanel?

I use skinner and have all background on UI frames at ~0.6 alpha, problem is that when i hide LH that half of the questpanel becomes doubled up making it apear as if its at a higer alpha (i get 2 0.6 frames ontop of eachother). And would like to know if its somehow possible to make the LH frame go to 0 alpha when its in its hidden state and only show the button to open it up again.

Edit: Some screenies to show what i mean.
