DoTimerFanFix  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2009-10-19.01
by: JMHammer [More]

This project is no longer necessary. Asheyla posted an update to DoTimer on 2010-02-02. Please get DoTimer from Asheyla's project page from now on:

http://www.wowinterface.com/download...2-DoTimer.html

====================
This is a fix for DoTimer by Asheyla:
http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info5302-DoTimer.html

As soon as Asheyla posts an update to his addon, I will delete this project.

I'm sure that Asheyla will eventually get around to applying corrections to DoTimer. In the meanwhile, there are some annoying glitches with the current DoTimer, most of which have been caused by changes in World of Warcraft. I think it is important to note that most of the problems users are experiencing with DoTimer are a result of changes to WoW - not bugs in DoTimer.

1- The recent addition of three Shaman spells which cast four totems simultaneously.

2- The recent changes to Hunter trap shared-cooldown categories and cooldown timing.

3- "You are not in a party" spam. Many addons are causing this problem; DoTimer is one of them. Not everyone will experience this issue, but if you are, this FanFix version of DoTimer corrects it. If you still get the spam with this version of the addon, the problem is being caused by one of your other addons. You might want to grab this addon, which suppresses the problem:
http://www.wowinterface.com/download...APartyFix.html

4- A bug in DoTimer related to profile handling.

I wish to note that I did not generate any of the fixes for DoTimer. All four fixes were made by other people. I just applied all the fixes, tested them thoroughly to be sure they work and do not cause problems of their own, and then packaged them for upload here. I give credit to:
----------
**Farmbuyer of wowinterface.com for the Shaman totem fix and the profile fix.**
**cynergy of curse.com for the Hunter trap fix.**
**coani of wowinterface.com for the "You are not in a party" spam fix.**
----------

As soon as Asheyla posts an update to his addon, I will delete this project.

2009-10-19.01
Added the "You are not in a party" spam fix. Which I somehow neglected to apply to the earlier versions. Thank you, coani.

2009-10-14.01
1- Added a fix for profile management errors. Thank you, Farmbuyer.
2- Changed the .toc files as follows:
2a- Changed Interface to 30200 (applied to both .toc files for DoTimer and DoTimer_Options).
2b- Added a note about this "FanFix" version of DoTimer (applied to both .toc files for DoTimer and DoTimer_Options).
2c- Changed the version to 4.3.6f02 (applied to the .toc file for DoTimer only).

2009-10-05.01
First release.

The other day I was sitting down eating strudels after duelling someone and this error message popped. The dk I was duelling was also in my party. Not sure if this is related but I have Horn of Winter blocked under DoTimer. Unfortunately I am unable to replicate the error after that.

Message: ..\AddOns\DoTimer\DoTimer\core.lua line 650:

Then the next day while in an instance:

Today also in an instance, just before boss pull this bug error popped up:

DoTimer\DoTimer\core.lua:283: ?()
DoTimer\DoTimer\core.lua:87:
DoTimer\DoTimer\core.lua:86

So basically I'm having a hard time narrowing it down to exactly what event that is causing the error because it usualy happens during or after combat and so many events already occured in combat log. Any tips on how to track down the trigger of the bug better? Thanks.

Thanks! Any guidance you can give me will be appreciated. I still have never seen that error myself while in game.

Re: Recent Bug Message

alinnia- That is identical to the report submitted by richerich on 21 Dec 2009.

Can you please tell me what is happening, or what you're doing, when the error message appears? If it is happening often, you should be able to find some common event. If I can replicate the error, I can track down what is causing the problem - and then, maybe, I can fix it. If I can't replicate the error, I can't do anything about it.

Recent Bug Message

Hi, this week I've been seeing the following bug message quite often during instance runs. Not sure why it only started happening recently.

richerich- I am not able to replicate the "You are not in a raid group" problem. Please try disabling all addons EXCEPT DoTimer when you're in a battleground. If the problem occurs, and you can tell me EXACTLY what to do so I can see the error happen myself, I'll do something about it. (FWIW, I think I know what needs to be changed, but I'm not going to make a change if I can't cause the error to occur with the existing code.) If the problem does not occur with all other addons disabled, the problem is being caused by another addon.

Souli123- That is a new feature request. I am not going to add new features to DoTimer; this project is simply a collection of bugfixes and is going to disappear as soon as Asheyla makes a return. Please post your request to Asheyla, through a private message to his email address:
[email protected]
...or at the DoTimer project page:
http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info5302

Conzar- You can either delete DoTimer.lua (and DoTimer.lua.bak) from your World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/<AccountName>/SavedVariables folder; or you can look inside the DoTimer.lua file at that location and delete the entry. The latter operation will preserve all your other settings but might be challenging for you to perform properly. The former operation will set DoTimer back to its defaults but is very easy to do and is guaranteed to resolve your issue. Please post your feature request to Asheyla.

xtoq- I can create new features for DoTimer, but I have chosen to not do so. This is Asheyla's addon - I am just maintaining a version on this project page which includes bug fixes that Asheyla has not yet implemented. New features are beyond the scope of this project. I fully expect Asheyla to return.

It would have been easier to make a new anchor and make it a whitelist, rather than a blacklist. I'd say that, unfortunately, you'll have to start from scratch. What you'll need to do if you start from scratch is to create a new anchor, then select "whitelist" instead of "blacklist" and then only put the spells you want tracked in the list. Makes a much shorter list.

This is just a fan fix, since Ash is MIA. This author cannot and will not provide any additional functionality to DoTimer, just letting you know. =)

Is there a way to use my own bordertextures for icon display (square, not round)? I went through every lua but couldn't find anything to change this :/

I have never seen that error message myself. Unless i can replicate it, there is nothing I can do to repair it - if there is, in fact, a problem with the DoTimer code.

Please make your report on Asheyla's DoTimer page. I know he logged in just a day or two ago, so hopefully he'll be back with a full update of his own soon, and I can shut down this maintenance project.

I'm not 100% sure sure when it was triggered, but i think it was when i was in a party and it tried to track multiple party buffs (from blessings)... not sure tho, ill let you know if it happens again

Oh, and i noticed that "You are not in a party"- bug has enveloped into "You are not in a raid group"
