Fizzwidget Guildentipper

Version: 2.0.1
by: Gazmik [More]

Guildentipper is discontinued. Its functionality is part of the Blizzard default UI as of WoW Patch 2.1.0.

Sometimes, even a master goblin engineer like myself prefers a simple gizmo with a single function instead of those overcomplicated, Alterac Army-style contraptions that try to do everything. Sure, every vendor from here to the Hinterlands has some kind of gadget to help you identify other adventurers’ guild tabards from a distance, or show you all sorts of info about them, in any color you prefer, while letting you hold it in either hand, upside down, whatever… but I don’t need all that. And I trust my own handcrafted devices over someone else’s any day!

This little doohickey is good enough for me… maybe it’s just what you need, too. (Of course, even the simplest gizmo needs a good name!)

Features
When mousing over a player in the world, the tooltip should show their guild name (in angle brackets) on the second line. That’s it.

v. 2.0.1 - 2007/01/15

  • Updated TOC to indicate compatibility with WoW Patch 2.0.5 and the Burning Crusade release.
v. 2.0 - 2006/12/05
  • Updated for compatibility with WoW 2.0 (and the Burning Crusade Closed Beta).
  • Added AFK/DND display to the tooltip, since that information is now readily accessible by addons. (And once you can see both AFK/DND and guild name in the tooltip, you're not missing any information if you turn off overhead display of player names.)

(See Guildentipper home page for complete release notes.)

Another, why didn't Blizzard do this AddOn. I like knowing, without straining my two index fingers, what guilds people belong to in my party/raid group. Typing is so... extrainious.

Love the simplistic beauty of this addon, but apparently it's having gnomish tendencies. I believe, but am not sure, that the EnhTooltip is not hooking using the new function. Just wondering if you tested this on a regular server yet, cause it's not working for me and this seems to be the case with any tooltip addon out there. Apparently a last minute update to code that was not mentioned prior to release for devs.
