1. What it is.
MooniacalMap started as a tiny expansion on Tekkub's MapEnhancer, I asked Tekkub if I could build my own addon based on that and he said it was ok (Thanks Tek) MooniacalMap does nothing more than allow the worldmap to be scalable, draggable and have a transparency setting, it also adds player coordinates and cursor coordinates to the bottom of the worldmap. Nothing more nothing less. That is all there is to it. I have considered adding foglight support to MooniacalMap, but I feel that right now, it would create a heaviness that I swore to stay away from. Although I must admit to still having a dream about adding foglight and dungeonmaps to this addon.
2. Install.
This addon is fairly straightforward to install, simply unzip it in your World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns directory. Should that directory not exist, simply create it.
Creating the addons folder is equally simple, for those who don't know how, I'll quickly explain it. Browse to your WoW install (default this would be C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\ if you do not have a folder called Interface, simply right click and empty area and click on New Folder. This will allow you to create the Interface folder, for the AddOns, repeat the same process, but name your folder AddOns.
When you have unzipped this addon, verify if all files are present by browsing into the folder World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns/MooniacalMap. You should find the following files there.
MooniacalMap.toc
MooniacalMap.lua
Note: You may not see the extensions (.toc and .lua) unless you have this setting disabled in Windows itself.
3. Use.
MooniacalMap doesn't use a GUI to set everything up, but rather uses slashcommands. The following commands are used to configure MooniacalMap.
/mooniacalmap
or
/moonmap
The following suffixes are valid (suffixes are used as "/mooniacalmap help" where help is the suffix)
help : This will display the help file, having nothing behind "/mooniacalmap" will lead to the same message
scale x: This allows you to set the scale of the worldmap, x is a value between 0 and 10. 0 is 0%, 10 is 100%
trans x: Transparency settings, x is a value between 0 and 10. 0 is fully transparent, 10 is fully opaque.
coords: This will enable the coordinate display if it was disabled before, and disable it if it was enabled before.
standby: This temporarily disables MooniacalMap, without having to disable it through the AddOns menu on the character select screen.
4. Known issues.
It's been reported that using MooniacalMap and Skinner together produces wonky results. Skinner will skin the frame I have made invisible in order for the map to no longer be fullscreen. I am currently thinking about a fix, but will most likely end up talking to the author of skinner.
Since this addon is very new and only has been tested by a few people, more issues are not known. If you encounter one, please feel free to let me know. (
