Shadowed Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v4.4.8
by: Shadowed, Nevcairiel

SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

Klime: Will look into it then

ksvoip: Not sure what you mean? The player filtering already applies to vehicles.

ksvoip: Not sure what you mean? The player filtering already applies to vehicles.

ricks322: The pet frame is parented to the player frame, meaning if Blizzard's player frame is hidden, the pet frame will too.

Pixol: I just double checked and I can't even come close to duplicating this. There is no spike in CPU usage, in fact SUF doesn't use a single milisecond of CPU in relation to spamming the macros on a target dummy and I tried all variations including one with //cast.

Also, it's not 32 cpu/sec, it's in milliseconds so 32 "seconds" is 0.032 milliseconds.

Kotomi: Not sure what you mean? You can already see debuffs in groups, the auras tab does this without a problem.

Still trying to figure out how to see debuffs in groups. WTB Manual. D:

EDIT: I think I managed to get it working, but... it's not showing the weakened soul debuff.

This is a Blizzard bug, no addons will let you set focus.

Use this to set your focus
/focus
Use this to clear focus
/clearfocus

CPU Usage while all units are disabled?

Recently I've been trying to get rid of high CPU usage add-ons.
So I've been doing a lot of experimenting with "Addon Profiler"
http://www.wowinterface.com/download...nProfiler.html
I
I've gone from showing entire unit frames to hiding them all, to creating a brand new profile and hiding everything then show player frame, then showing player frame + target frame. They all yield the same result

This result is the CPU usage going up as I spam spells on a training dummy or myself.

I disabled my macaroon action bar addon to make sure it wasn't because of that add-on.

I play a Priest... Targetting the Heroic Training Dummy in Ironforge:

Spam clicking a simple mind blast spell straight from the spell book yields no cpu usage

Spam clicking a simple mind blast spell from the action bar yields about 17 cpu/sec (this will vary how fast you spam click, faster ==more cpu)

Spam clicking the following macro
/cast mind blast
resulted in about 32 cpu/sec

Spam clicking the following macro with "illegal scripts"
/cast mind blast
//cast mind blast
causes about 120 cpu/sec

Spam clicking the following macro with "2 illegal scripts"
/cast mind blast
//cast mind blast
//cast mind blast
causes about 200 cpu/sec

Mapster does the exact same thing, pretty much similar cpu usage
Macaroon action bars does the same thing, except there's no extra cpu usage from the illegal scripts
Button facade reacts the same except not with such intensity, the most it has gotten is 20cpu/sec with /cast mind blast, it has no reaction (like +1cpu)/sec to //cast mind blast

Well I don't know what's wrong. Pitbull doesn't do this. Mik Scrolling Battle Text doesn't do this (deals with combat logs?)

I don't know if the //cast mind blast is even relevant this case, but other add-ons don't react to it (mainly pitbull, a UI add-on), since putting a bunch of //cast mind blast in a macro without any addons turned on will cause WoW to lag up anyways.
Because I logged onto my Tauren Shaman lvl 1 alt with zero addons but addon profiler and SUF.
it causes like 4cpu/sec for /cast lightning bolt
2cpu/sec for /cast mind blast (probably cus I don't have the spell)

put that /cast lightning bolt twelve times into a macro, and you'll have 40cpu/sec from spam clicking the macro with all SUF unit frames disabled through the GUI
I also get a huge lag spike whenever I type /suf and press enter before the GUI window shows up.

I thought hey, maybe it's cus my 366kb profile in my WTF folder is too much for it to deal with. Nope, delete the wtf files, disable all my other addons but the SUF and SUF options addons, it takes pretty much just as long to load up the GUI.

My complaint: a CPU problem where it shouldn't have any
Similar addons that experience this: Macaroon (well it's a action bar), Mapster (uhhhh why does this addon use up cpu when I don't even have the map opened)

Buttonfacade(It turns out buttonfacade is only affected when other addons it is associated with is enabled as well, so it's not really directly affected)

Similar UI addons that don't experience this: X-perl Raid frames, Pitbull 4.0

I don't write add-ons but it could probably be just something SUF has to live with? If it is, I guess I'll have to turn to less cpu-intensive addons. Because I am spamming spells during a boss encounter. I do not want some add-on to take more CPU than it needs to. Maybe I'm reading Addon profiler wrong and it actually doesn't contribute to cpu.

Another Note: this does not appear to be fixed in the Alpha version
ShadowedUnitFrames-v3.0.2-11-g3e72ab9.zip

Again, maybe there's no need for a fix because I am reading things wrong.

Pet Frame problem

I always have Display LUA errors checked, and use Swatter.

This is what I have:
Under Unit Status -> Player : Player is checked, and Pet is NOT checked

Under the Unit Configuration Pet does not showup ( I would not expect it to).

Under Hide Blizzard these are NOT checked
Hide Bluff Frames
Hide Pet
Hide Player Cast Bar

I did a setup with only a few addon's loaded and no change, and no errors reported (with or without Swatter).

I checked my Warlock and get the same results, I can not get the Blizzard pet frame to show up.

Works great otherwise.

shigsy: You need to add the fonts, I would suggest putting this inside SharedMedia as you are a lot less likely to update that, you want to add a line that looks something like this:

SML:Register(SML.MediaType.FONT, "<In-game font name>", "Interface\\AddOns\\<Path to font>")

ricks322: Turn errors on, Game Menu -> Interface -> Help -> Enable Lua Errors

Ever since 3.x whenever I join a group I do not see the group frame until I go into options and toggle any group option on and off. Then the frames appear as they should. I have the following options checked under party:

Show player in party
Hide in any raid

I have the following checked under raid:

Show party as raid
