DockingStation (Display)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 0.5.26 (Beta)
by: Vrul [More]

A display platform for LibDataBroker (LDB) based plug-ins. The display is provided through panels, each having sections (Left, Center, Right) corresponding with how a plugin is justified within it.

All plugins are disabled by default and you must turn on the ones you want to use. This is to avoid the complete mess that results from all plugins being on with the first use. The only plugin on at the start is the one provided by this addon to access its options easily. Just click it to start changing settings.

With plugins unlocked you can drag and drop them to other panels/sections and have them automatically adjust to their new location. There are no limitations on the drag and drop capabilities other than the new location for a plugin must be within a panel. You may also change the location of a plugin through the plugin options menu.

Almost all sub-sections of settings have a default option. The defaults follow a set pattern. First plugins check their settings, if default, they next go to their panel's settings. If the panel is also set to default then it defers to the addon's global settings. Finally, if the global settings are still set to default, then the hard coded defaults are used.

Note: It is recommended that you delete the folder(s) for an existing addon when updating to a different version. This is to keep files that are no longer used from taking up space.

Translators: To submit a translation please just edit existing files (example: DockingStation\Locales\deDE.lua and DockingStation_Config\Locales\deDE.lua) and send them to me.

Doubled up Tooltips

The only addon I am experiencing problems with is my own (Raid Ready Light). It also uses LibQTip.

I'm not sure if it's of use in diagnosing, but I have two frames that use the same tooltip. I added some debugging code, and I get two OnEnter calls to the tooltip when I mouse over the LDB widget, but only one OnEnter when I mouse over the other frame. I only get one OnLeave regardless of which frame I mouse over.

If I run the exact same code using Ninja Panel as my display manager, I only get one OnEnter call, regardless of whether it's the LDB widget or second frame.

It's easy enough to protect against this by setting a boolean on OnEnter to true and OnLeave to false, then skipping out of OnEnter early if it's still true. I had originally thought the bug was in my code, but when testing against multiple display managers I found that it only happens with DockingStation.

Cheers

On the first OnEnter call the tooltip frame is being detected. That frame is then scaled and redrawn (the second OnEnter). The reason I have to do it that way is some plugins are setting their font strings to a fixed width and when those strings are scaled it doesn't quite scale the same as the rest of the tooltip, resulting in very messed up tooltips.

I could just limit scaling to those tooltips not defined via OnEnter/OnLeave but I'm an all-or-nothing kind of person so that doesn't sit well with me. I may just scrap the idea completely if I can't magic up some way to deal with it or maybe add an option to disable it for individual plugins.

I'm also having problems with TipTac and DockingStation. Some broker plugins don't show a tooltip at all (see TipTac comments for details), and Ara_Broker_Tradeskills shows double tooltips.

****EDIT****

I solved the problem by setting Frame Unit Type and Frame Tip Type to "Parent Anchor" in the Anchors section of TipTac's options.

Everything works exactly as it should now. Apologies for my noobishness.

Okay, well I updated SavedInstances so that it checks OnEnter to see if it's already drawn the tooltip contents. It strikes me though that every single LDB addon is going to need to do this.

I agree that disabling tooltips in combat and per-plugin is definitely something we want in a display addon. I think that any other sort of tooltip fiddling should be left to a tooltip addon. Maybe this scaling stuff should just be abandoned... /shrug

Actually you didn't need to do that. The only real problem with the doubled up tooltips is the OnEnter handlers are assuming/expecting that their tooltips are empty. A simple tooltip:Clear() (for LibQTip tooltips) before adding stuff to it fixes the issue and allows the scaling to work too. The plugins I test with that use LibQTip were all clearing their tooltips prior to updating, that's why I never knew this was an issue until after I released the update.

I would just do the clearing on DockingStation's end, but since I have no way to know which method clears any given tooltip I can't without modifying my code for each and every tooltip library out there and for those that are written in the future. I'm pretty sure Tablet used ClearLines, since that's what GameTooltip uses, to avoid this issue.

Tooltip Alpha

Hi,

Can you please add an alpha option to the tooltips? Or let me know where to edit it? I've actually been poking around the lua, trying to find it, but failed. Anyway, it would be nice to adjust the background. Some text, can be hard to see currently.

Regards

With 0.2.12, this issue is back (double tooltip):

http://bildr.no/view/385722

The addon i'm using to display guild members etc is Statblock_Folks from Wowace. This isssue did not happen with 0.2.11, but it did in some previous version.

No mouseover tooltips for many LDB

Like half of my LDB addons doesn't show tooltips on mouseover with DockingStation after 0.2.9. I tried .10, .11, .12 and they all bugged. Reported that issue when .10 was released but seems nothing changed so far.

LDBs bugged:

Broker_uClock
tekability
ClosetGnome
Broker_Speed
Violation
BigWigs
oRA2
SavedInstances
Broker_Group
Broker_PVP
GoldenTicket
leafZone

So many bugged LDBs make any version after .9 not usable.

This is fixed.

Gregory, out of that list of plugins I have the following loaded and working fine: Broker_Group, Broker_uClock, leafZone, SavedInstances, and Violation. What other addons are you using that alter or manipulate tooltip behavior?

Are you using lolTip perhaps? Known issue when you set ''MouseoverAnchor'' to true.

With 2.11, .12, and .13 so far my tooltips all appear flawlessly and in correct scale etc. EXCEPT Broker_CPU, which does not show any tooltip at all unless I go to options and disable and then re-enable "LibQTip" library, after which a tooltip will show. What's annoying is I have to do this every time I log on... not sure if it is a Broker_CPU problem but the tooltip *was* working correctly prior to version 2.11.

I'm using the TipTac tooltip addon. I'm also using Broker_Group, Broker_PVP, and Broker_uClock and all of those tooltips work perfectly fine. I also use Fubar2Broker, and the ported fubar addons' tooltips work as well. And I don't get any double tooltips.

Broker_CPU seems to be the only one giving me problems...

I tried to look into the problem but I couldn't even figure out wtf was going on with some of the locals being made at the very beginning.
