oUF Circle

This is a oUF Unit Frame AddOn which was made using the excellent oUF_Caellian Unit Frames (originally based on P3lim work).

This AddOn is a little different in that it uses circles instead of rectangles and the level of transparency is determined by the units health or power.

Why use a circle?

I thought it might be interesting to use a unit frame that actually changes shape depending on the amount of health or power missing. That is as the unit looses health or power the shape of the unit changes from circular to semi circular, etc..

Why mess with the transparency?

The current philosophy of my UI is that I only want information I care about showing. If the target, or my toon is near Max health/power, I don't care. I am only really interested when the unit goes towards zero. As it approaches zero the alpha approaches 1 making the unit more noticeable. The current formula is [1-(min/max)]+.25

What is up with those Castbars?

The castbars should be big and obvious, but still take up a reasonable amount of the screen. I thought I might try (surprisingly enough) a big old circle.

Well Thanks!

It is my first effort in trying to make an addon. I have to say that these unitframes have turned out better than I had expected. I plan on improving them as I think of more stuff (and learn how to code in lua).

Wow hmm, allright, first of all, it looks quite amazing i must say, but, if you wish to thanks me you should definately thank P3lim for his code because i merely used his layout as base to start learning and even know i take great benefit from his and haste's advices.

My second remark would be that you took a quite old version of my layout, it has been drastically improved in many ways since the version you seems to have used, starting by using the new oUF 1.1 features.

Lastly, well yes it looks amazing, i didn't test it but it's indeed a fresh idea.

Nice Layout man, very unique. And i must say, after seeing them on a Screenshot i didnt think that they can be very useable in PvP/Arena because of overview etc. but i have to say, the overview is very nice.


Edit: Buffs/Debuffs on Targetframe do overlap if the Target has much debuffs and buffs. Maybe do more rows for them?

Thanks! I edited my info to include a reference to P3lim. I just downloaded your most recent version and I will update this to it. I've just perused it and I hope the next version of this will be much better, since I learned so much the first time.

Should I rename this addon to oUF_Caellian_Circle? It does not seem right that I am taking credit for mostly your work. I suppose I should not presume that you would want your name on every hacked up project based on your code... How is this usually handled?

Thanks! I played around with this alot in the battle grounds and arena and I was surprised how well it seemed to work for me. This whole addon is designed for PvP in my mind.

I am going to upgrade this to the latest version of oUF_Caellian and oUF, and will fix the buff/debuff overlap.

Ah btw. maybe Banzai support, i could imagine that with these circles banzai coloring would be nice.

Updating now! Just awaiting the approval of the uploaded new version.

Check out the front page for the new changes.

I addressed the aggro indicator by having a thin center ring turn really red when the player gets aggro.

Yep it is compliant with the development version of oUF. Here are the changes I made this release:

Version 1.1 Update:

Very nice Update, the Banzai Ring is awesome! About the Castbars, i find them to big actually, would be nice to see another way to show them, with Cast Icons maybe? And the Raid Unitframes are taking to much of Screenspace for my liking in a Alterac for example.

All other Stuff is just great, thanks.


Edit: The Buff/Debuff Border seem to not work? They look not that smooth like on other layouts, Pelim for example.
