LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

any advice would be appreciated!
It appears when you open the default quest log, or one that is compatible with the default quest log. Are you running any quest log altering addons?

Disable all addons except LightHeaded.
Open your quest log.

Yes, DoubleWide, as listed in the addon description.

I like BEQL. *Ace2*

The most modern version of EQL. Still beta though. But it supports LightHeaded.

MetaMap Support

I've added support for MetaMap to LightHeaded, if anyone is interested. When you click on either a coord or zcoord link, it'll create a map note on MetaMap (or retrieve the closest nearby note), bring up the map, ping the note, then bring up the popup to set a waypoint. Works pretty slick and requires no changes to MetaMap. I believe I have the latest version of MetaMap, which I know hasn't been updated in awhile (still works with 2.2, amazingly enough). Here's the changes you need to make to the LightHeaded.lua file:

Adding MetaMap Support:

1. Open the LightHeaded.lua file in your favorite text editor
2. Find the function "LightHeaded:OnHyperlinkClick"
3. Under that function, look for the following text:

Code:
		if TomTom then
			TomTom:AddWaypoint(x, y, note)
		end
4. Insert the following code AFTER the above text:

Code:
		-- MetaMap support by CaptCrunch
		if(MetaMap_SetNewNote) then
			local qid,cid,rating,indent,parent,date,poster,comment = self:GetQuestComment(lhframe.title, lhframe.level, lhframe.current_page-1)
			local mapName = GetZoneText()
			local cx = x/100
			local cy = y/100
			local name = "Quest: "..lhframe.title
			local creator = "LightHeaded"
			local inf1 = "Poster: "..poster
			local inf2 = "Date: "..date

			local noteAdded, noteID = MetaMap_SetNewNote(mapName, cx, cy, name, inf1, inf2, "LightHeaded", 4, 1, 2, 3, nil)
			if(MetaMap_ShowLocation) then
				if (not noteAdded and MetaMap_CheckNearNotes) then
					-- If the note wasn't added, find a nearby note
					noteID = MetaMap_CheckNearNotes(zoneName, cx, cy)
					if (not noteID) then noteID = nil end
				end
				-- Opens the map and shows the location. If note was already
				-- added, noteID will be nil and the routine should search
				-- for the name of the note
				MetaMap_ShowLocation(mapName, name, noteID)
				if (noteID and BWP_ShowNoteMenu) then
					-- Brings up the waypoint popup
					BWP_ShowNoteMenu(noteID)
				end
			end
		end
		-- End MetaMap support
5. Search for the following text, again within the "LightHeaded:OnHyperlinkClick" function:

Code:
		if TomTom and type(TomTom.AddZWaypoint) == "function" then
			TomTom:AddZWaypoint(c, z, x, y, note)
		elseif TomTom then
			self:Print("NPC locations are not supported in this version of TomTom.")
		end
6. Insert the following code AFTER the above text:

Code:
		-- MetaMap support by CaptCrunch
		if(MetaMap_SetNewNote) then
			local zone = select(z, GetMapZones(c))
			local mapName = zone
			local cx = x/100
			local cy = y/100
			local name = "NPC: "..note
			local creator = "LightHeaded"
			local inf1 = ""
			local inf2 = ""

			local noteAdded, noteID = MetaMap_SetNewNote(mapName, cx, cy, name, inf1, inf2, "LightHeaded", 2, 1, 2, 3, nil)
			if(MetaMap_ShowLocation) then
				if (not noteAdded and MetaMap_CheckNearNotes) then
					-- If the note wasn't added, find a nearby note
					noteID = MetaMap_CheckNearNotes(zoneName, cx, cy)
					if (not noteID) then noteID = nil end
				end
				-- Opens the map and shows the location. If note was already
				-- added, noteID will be nil and the routine should search
				-- for the name of the note
				MetaMap_ShowLocation(mapName, name, noteID)
				if (noteID and BWP_ShowNoteMenu) then
					-- Brings up the waypoint popup
					BWP_ShowNoteMenu(noteID)
				end
			end
		end
		-- End MetaMap support
7. Save the LightHeaded.lua file

If something doesn't work, just post.

Re: MetaMap Support

As I've always requested, please send me a diff and I'll consider adding the change to the addon's core.

BEQL has come a long way since I last tried it out (3 or 4 months ago) so I'm glad it's a suitable replacement for EQL now! Thanks again for the great mod, keep up the fantastic work.

When I hit the coords for a quest in the lightheaded panel, the arrow doesnt show up..but it does for some of my char, is there a variable I'm not seeing?

That depends. If you're using TomTom, no there is no option it just "works". If you're using Cartographer_Waypoints, then there probably is. I don't use Cartographer, so I can't comment on it. There's nothing in LightHeaded that turns this on or off.
