Skada Damage Meter  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.8.2
by: zarnivoop, funkydude, oscarucb

Skada is a modular damage meter with various viewing modes, segmented fights and customizable windows. It aims to be highly efficient with memory and CPU.

Usage

When you first start using Skada, there will be a window created by default. This window can be extensively customized in Skada's configuration panel; click the little cog icon to access a menu, and then click Configure. Depending on your user interface, there may also be a minimap button allowing quick access to this menu.

Skada supports multiple windows. To create a new window, click Windows in the addon's configuration panel. There are three built-in types of windows - Bar, Inline, and Data text. Bar is the classic damage meter window, and is very customizable. Inline shows the meter in a horizontal line, which can be useful for integration in custom user interfaces. Data text shows just one item at a time, and can also be displayed by any LDB display addon, such as Titan Panel, ChocolateBar, or ElvUI.

In the normal Bar window, you can left click on specific items for more detailed information, and right click for less details. At the very "top" is the list of all saved fight segments. Some data modes have several detailed information views. In this case you choose alternate views by holding certain keys pressed while clicking. For example, in Damage mode, you can Shift-click a player to see what enemies the player caused damage to. Tooltips will display how to reach the different views.

You can also use window buttons for selecting fight segment and mode directly.

Scrolling in Skada is done with the mousewheel.

Plugins

Skada is very easy to extend, and there are many extra plugin addons out there that add functionality, such as:

There is a forum thread for discussion on Skada.
Suggestions and bug reports here. Bug reports in comments will be deleted. There is a page with API information here.

"Skada" is Swedish for "Damage".

I suspect it's more like something ramps up the CPU usage slowly but steadily. [/b]
Any chance you or someone else could see if there is a particular mode (say, Failbot or Threat, to name the most suspect ones) causing this? To do this, disable a mode addon and see if the problem remains.

I myself always have huge lag in Dalaran, making it a bit tricky to reproduce.

I like this program, but the dps calculations are way off, maybe half of what they should be. The total damage seems OK though.

Same here. I'll try to have time today to test which modules are doing it. The weird thing to me is that this happens after first installing it. Happened to me in org and I haven't even set it up or fought with it yet.

dps calculations off when compared to what? Not all mods calculate dps the same. Some mods only calculate when you start attacking, some when you enter combat and so on. The problem with all dps mods is they all use their own standard. Everyone needs to standardize thier mods.

Indeed, DPS is a somewhat fuzzy measure. Skada's DPS is currently calculated this way: total player damage / seconds between first and last action Skada recorded for this player + 1. The +1 is there to avoid dividing by zero.

Well, they are way off compared to WWS or Recount.

Recount isnt accurate, sorry to burst bubble . Recount misses the first spell most of the time. It doesnt start recording till in combat. WWS misses most everything, you should be using wow meter online now. Wow meter will give actual dps and dps. DPS is first entering combat and actual is your dps time. I believe this mod starts your dps when you attack not why your waiting for tank to get aggro.

r10 seems to have no hitching problems.

To those with the hitching problem, try the latest version here, r17, and let me know if the problem remains.

Hey mate,

Popped in r17 and got:

[2009/02/14 08:15:14-1557-x1]: Skada-1.0\locale\koKR.lua:3: attempt to index local 'L' (a nil value)

Cheers, looking forward to giving this one a whirl!

edit: Also, is it possible to incorporate an option to make the bars propagate upwards?

I just installed r17, all modules enabled, and it's definitely still bumpy. Hope you can fix that, because I would like to ditch Recount.
