WatchDog  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.25
by: Cladhaire [More]

All click-casting code has been removed. Anyone who used WatchDog for it should instead use Clique, which is much better, cleaner, and based entirely off the WatchDog click-casting code. (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...php?s=&id=5108 )

I repeat. WatchDog is no longer a Click-Casting mod. It is purely a set of unit frames.

Watchdog is a highly customizable set of UnitFrames first and foremost. When logging in for the first time, you'll see a single UnitFrame towards the center of your screen. It will display some information about your character, and windows will pop up as party members, pets and targets show up.

You can open the configuration menu by typing /wdog, /wd or /watchdog, depending on what other addons are installed in your system (/wd conflicts with Wardrobe type addons). There are a number of options available on this screen, and I won't explain them all since they'll be changing quite soon.

The format strings (Target Format 1, Player Format 2, etc.) are what defines what is seen on each frame-- and can be customized per type of frame. Format strings are entered using a system of [tags]. A full listing of the tags is available in the readme.txt file within WatchDog.

Discussion for this addon can be found here: http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...6299#post16299

Awsome mod

Using this on my priest, it's truly an awsome mod, easy to pay attention to just what I need to do

I'm using is as well, but each time a new person joins my party their character frame gets placed in a different spot. I have tried both locking and unlocking/moving...is there a setting that allows party members and their pets to just be applied beneath each other as they join? I haven't found it yet..maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot.

Moving bars

I too am having trouble moving the bars. I would like to place pet(s) under each owner and use these bars instead of default portraits.

Thanks for any advice.

I do have the unlock/lock frames unclicked, btw.

edit -

Nevermind. I visited your website and noticed that you have "Lock Frames Enable frames to be left-click dragged around. Hold down alt to drag individual frames ". So, I will try that. Thanks!

re-edit -

I tried using ALT and it won't work... any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem with insomniac my old frames still show up. I'm going to download move anything mod and hide them as a quick fix but that mod is buggy so would like another fix please.

WatchDog doesn't make any decisions for you, +healing gear doesn't matter.

I must say, adding Load on Demand for the options is a great improvement.

It seems to me this latest version has more of a problem updating certain people when in a group. I've noticed that last night and today that every so often it will not update the health and mana for certain party members..then they end up dying because of it

Would this be related to Watchdog or something else? I've been using Watchdog since Vika released it, and I haven't seen the updating bug like this nearly as bad as it is in the latest 1.19 version.

That's an issue with the standard UI and it can get very quirky. I've run into this myself, but if you load your default target/party/player frames it's doing the exact same thing. Typically reloading the UI or logging out and back in resolves the issue. There were no code changes anywhere near those systems in WatchDog (the changes were.. to be completely frank a matter of 2 lines and a search and replace in the localisation file).

Next time you run into the issue, pop up your default party/player/target frames, and you should observe the same issue. Its a default UI problem that happens on occasion, and should be resolved partially in 1.9.3 WoW Patch, and the rest is fixed for 1.10 (So says Slouken).

Thanks for the report. In the future try to use my portal (http://cladhaire.wowinterface) to report issues like this, so others can see them too =)

Maybe I am not as cluey as I would like to be but I can't find a description for this mod.
I can see lots of change logs and new features but I haven't found a summary saying what it does.

Re: format codes

There's no reason to be rude.. you have two choices-- I actually update the mod and finish the new version, or I spend all day updating my descriptions and documentation. I do my best, but I only have so much time.

I've updated the description to better describe what WatchDog does, and to show the tags that are currently available to the user-- I truncated most of the changelog.
