ChatLoot  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.6.1
by: BagofMeat [More]

Dock Blizzard's new Loot History window into the chat box under it's own tab called "Loot History".

Features
- Chat tab can be renamed and is remembered per character
- Slash commands. [/loot or /chatloot to switch to docked tab. /loot help or /loot ? to list all available options.]
- Tab flashing alert is used to show new loot info is available. [/loot alert to toggle]
- Tooltips can be shown on hovering or clicking on the loot. [/loot tooltip to toggle]
- Reset command to return loot window to default size and function. [/loot reset to activate.]
- Adjustable delay timer to delay loading of addon. [/loot delay <0-20> to set]

To display properly for Aurora, FreeUI and TukUI: Download and install the plugin here.
For ElvUI it should work fine if you just add a short load delay using the appropriate slash command listed above.

1.6.1
- Updated .toc to 60100

1.5
- Updated .toc file
- Added adjustable load delay. Can be set from 0 to 20 seconds.
- Bits of clean up that I don't exactly remember since it was weeks ago.

1.4
- Hopefully fixes the multiple tabs being created occasionally on startup

1.3
- Moved tab name to a per character variable to fix a multiple character tab naming bug
- Expanded reset to restore hidden graphics and bring the default window closer to its normal function
- More clean up

1.2
- Various tweaks and cleanup
- "/loot tooltip" toggles between hovering and clicking to show tooltips

1.1
- Updated .toc file
- Added support for renaming tab
- Added tab flashing for when new loot info is available but tab isn't visible
- "/loot" and "/chatloot" commands added
- "/loot" now changes to the ChatLoot tab if it isn't already selected
- "/loot alert" toggles tab flashing
- "/loot reset" sets the frame back to the default size if you want to disable the addon
- "/loot help" lists the above slash commandsands

It creates a new one with the same default name that you have coded it to say. It recreates itself every time I login, so I end up having two Loot History windows, instead of one (when it does that)... however the mod no longer works for some reason. It just refuses to function. It's as if it just grew a mind of its own. It's rather frustrating. I just re-installed it and tried again, still not working. It does nothing anymore.

I seem to have the same thing going on with my own addon too, sometimes just stops working, for no reason that I can find. I don't know what's going on, but it's all screwed up. Just this addon and my own addon are screwed up... everything else works fine. Not sure what's up with that.

Even though it's mean to do what you said, it's not doing it - it's doing nothing.

Also I'm curious if they have the same name or is it creating a new one with the default name?

No I haven't tried /loot reset or /loot install - I had no idea those were options. Those might fix it, but shouldn't the mod automatically create a frame on login and only do it once, not do it again every time I log into that character? It just seems redundant to have to force it to work every time I login now that it just decided to stop working.

As for the theme design, yes it's nice and clean while still fitting well with most UI's. However, when I tried it with ElvUI, it didn't really skin it completely. For example, the buttons that open a dropdown, and the glow effect on the main loot shown... those are blizzard style from what I can tell, and they don't change with any UI I use it with.

I use full UI's mostly because I rather not use bits and pieces. I am lazy in reality, but with things like this, where I'm sitting in front of a computer anyway, I don't see why I should be more lazy and just half ass it lol... but that being said though I am talking about me, not you so I hope you don't take that into offense and think I'm calling you lazy, cause I couldn't accurately do that anyway - I do not know you.

As for themes, the frame itself is pretty barebones. I haven't altered or added any textures used other than hiding a few to make it look cleaner. So if someone replaces the textures that Blizzard uses in the loot window or chat frame it should apply them to mine if they are still visible. Speaking of UIs, when I installed ElvUI to see if it worked for a question below, I noticed it replaced the default scroll bar with a custom graphic. So if that's what you mean I guess it's already doing it?

I installed NeavUI (damn I hate installing full UIs) saw my tab and typed in /loot to go to it. All seemed to be working as intended.

Say I log in today, but yesterday it already created the window, but as soon as I login today it creates another, so I end up with 2 windows, instead of one. So basically it's creating 2 instances of it. That it shouldn't do. I hope you can get that fixed soon. This works with any UI I try it with, but that bug still happens.

Also, any plans for theme support? For example, say a user decides to use ElvUI/TukUI - would it be possible to give it a theme design to match it?

EDIT: I also need to mention that this just stopped working once I installed Neav UI. It worked on all the others I used, but not on that one. It just doesn't do anything, it's as if I don't even have it installed...

Would it be alright with you if I included it in my UI package, as long as I give credit? I am still working on it and it won't be released for a while still, but when it is - I'd like to include this if you'll let me. I was going to directly code it in myself, so it won't be a standalone addon, but be part of the UI - but if you don't want me to do that, I won't. I am respectful.

Do you have multiple characters? I noticed an issue where if you log on a new character it makes a new tab since one isn't created yet (this is fine). This sets the tab name to the default. If you then log on to a previous character that had the tab name changed it will make a new tab thinking it doesn't exist yet (this is not fine).

I use it with Chatter and have no compatibility issues. Beyond that I can't say without knowing the specific chat mod.

Edit: Loaded up ElvUI and the ChatTweaks module. Seemed to work fine. All my mod is doing is creating an empty chat tab and anchoring the loot window to it so that it's only visible if the chat tab is selected. So unless a mod is heavily modifying Blizzard's functions for that, I don't foresee any issues with most or any chat mods.

nice job on this. it would be cool if the tooltips would only pop up when you click on a piece of loot instead of anytime you hover your mouse over them.

Hmm. That's because it's looking for a tab with that name and if it doesn't find it a new one is created. I could try and make something a little more complex for the tab name so that you could set it yourself. However, in the meantime if you just open ChatLoot.lua and replace "Loot History" with whatever name you want on lines 30 and 74 you would get the same result.
OK changed that works fine.
Anyway you shoud change the toc file to ## Interface: 50001
so its not shown as out of date addon
lol oops. I just copied the guts of this from another addon I made. That might have slipped my mind.
