Skada Damage Meter  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.8.2
by: zarnivoop, funkydude, oscarucb

Skada is a modular damage meter with various viewing modes, segmented fights and customizable windows. It aims to be highly efficient with memory and CPU.

Usage

When you first start using Skada, there will be a window created by default. This window can be extensively customized in Skada's configuration panel; click the little cog icon to access a menu, and then click Configure. Depending on your user interface, there may also be a minimap button allowing quick access to this menu.

Skada supports multiple windows. To create a new window, click Windows in the addon's configuration panel. There are three built-in types of windows - Bar, Inline, and Data text. Bar is the classic damage meter window, and is very customizable. Inline shows the meter in a horizontal line, which can be useful for integration in custom user interfaces. Data text shows just one item at a time, and can also be displayed by any LDB display addon, such as Titan Panel, ChocolateBar, or ElvUI.

In the normal Bar window, you can left click on specific items for more detailed information, and right click for less details. At the very "top" is the list of all saved fight segments. Some data modes have several detailed information views. In this case you choose alternate views by holding certain keys pressed while clicking. For example, in Damage mode, you can Shift-click a player to see what enemies the player caused damage to. Tooltips will display how to reach the different views.

You can also use window buttons for selecting fight segment and mode directly.

Scrolling in Skada is done with the mousewheel.

Plugins

Skada is very easy to extend, and there are many extra plugin addons out there that add functionality, such as:

There is a forum thread for discussion on Skada.
Suggestions and bug reports here. Bug reports in comments will be deleted. There is a page with API information here.

"Skada" is Swedish for "Damage".

So far, just reading about it, it sounds like a pretty nice addon. I wouldn't mind something that was lighter than Recount and seems like Skada has that potential. I downloaded and install r17 and got this error upon logging in:

Date: 2009-02-13 20:19:54
ID: 1
Error occured in: Global
Count: 1
Message: ..\AddOns\Skada\locale\koKR.lua line 3:
attempt to index local 'L' (a nil value)
Debug:
[C]: ?
Skada\locale\koKR.lua:3: in main chunk

As for comparing it to Recount I went to a target dummy (boss). Here's the results....
**Format for numbers will be "Recount//Skada"**
My combat lasted for 278.11s or 4.6 minutes (4 minutes 36 seconds)
Total Damage done: 743584//740.0K
DPS: 2658.1//2662.0
As for individual breakdowns of my spells, Recount and Skada were within .2% on every spell and very close to exact numbers. There was only one spell that was quite different. Immolate on Recount did 65106 and Skada 81.2K. A difference between the two I saw is that Skada combines the initial and dot damage that Immolate does while Recount splits them.

Now, there's something that was wierd when I look at the individual spell breakdowns. Example: clicking on Shadowbolt says something about some huge number and % that was resisted. There's always a huge resisted number for every spell that I looked at. The hit and crit numbers were correct though (by that I mean they matched Recount).

Regarding the individual breakdown of spells, would it be possible to show the average tick of a dot alongside the number of ticks? And could there be an option to display more digits of a number rather than ###.#K (ie. display the full value rather than a truncated value)?

Also, in the menu where you chose the mode, could there be an option for the order that it's displayed. I don't know why, but I seem to natural want to kill what's up top. And that's threat, but I don't really need to see threat, or at least I'd like to see damage. It's not really important, in fact it's not important. Just a suggestion.

Chose how many bars are display is an issue if you do anything lower than 10. There's no way to select any of the modes that aren't displayed.

And as for the jerking or whatever that problem is that people were talking about, I haven't had anything like that in the past hour that I've been online.

So far, I like it. Thanks!

I did that, didn't make a difference. I only have the damage module loaded and it still jerks after about 10 minutes. However if I shift left click to reset the jerking stops :/

And 5 minutes after that it starts again until I shift left click.

Can there be an option to combine pet data with the player?

And as for the titles (text at the top. ie "Damage"). Could there be something to distinguish between current and total? Like "Damage: Total" vs. "Damage: Current".

There seems to be an issue with the past fight text. Example, Razuvius (spelling?) was listed as some sort of totem. The 4 horsemen weren't listed as the 4 horsemen (I don't know what it listed them as). And the times beside the fights are usually just 00:31-00:31 and then 00:32-00:32 and so on.

And someway to hide/show the window without having to click the minimap button. I have all my minimap buttons grouped in a button bag.

So far, I'm liking it a lot. I've disabled recount .

NOTE|| I ran Naxx with Skada. The numbers were very close to what Recount reported (from other people). And I had no framerate issues (still don't). Also, I don't know what exactly it's supposed to report, but we had someone die to Heigen's dance and that wasn't reported in the Fail. Nothing actually showed up in the fail.

Yes, definitely a framerate hit every second or so. I really like the look of this meter.

From bugsack in BGs:

[2009/02/14 10:59:27-1012-x1]: Skada-1.0\locale\koKR.lua:3: attempt to index local 'L' (a nil value)

Edit: ok, waiting the validation to get new version. The error shows up every log in. Just wanted to add =).

Great Work!

Absolutely loving the way this is shaping up so far. Once all the small things get hammered out, I would love to replace recount with this. Keep up the great work!

I get no more jerkiness, which is great. Haven't tested it in group play yet. The bars mess up but a change of mode and then back fixes them. Looking forward to using it in a couple heroics later, full of promise!

Edit: After posting what's below, I noticed you had updated since last night. Downloaded the newest version, and the CTD is gone.

Extensive addon swapping around, and I can't find the culprit. When I load your addon, it crashes WoW. When I don't, I get a couple bugsack errors from *other* mods, but nothing fatal or unexpected. I downloaded your version of this mod last night.

Downloaded the latest version (r29).

It seems to work well, though I did notice one thing. When doing a rough comparison of dps calculations for skada versus recount dps calculations, I found that the damage done calculation is the same, but the dps calculation is way off.

Incidentally, it was in sync until I posted a /say report, then it went out of sync.

I haven't tested my jerkiness problem today, as I'm sick as a dog, though it sounds like I can assume its fixed. I'd love to see you keep up on this mod, first damage meter since assessment that I love. Nice work. The bugs will get ironed out eventually...it's up to us to help you find them
