Super Duper Macro  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.2.5.0
by: hypehuman, spiralofhope

This addon is under new maintenance

WowInterface will be kept up-to-date, but still needs to be cleaned up a bit. The source code, a list of all past releases, documentation, and issue tracker, can be found at:

https://github.com/spiralofhope/SuperDuperMacro

This description still needs to be audited.

----

To view recent changes, click the "Change Log" tab at the top of this page.

Open the in-game interface by typing /sdm

This addon allows you to create macros beyond the 255-character limit, and even beyond the 1023-character macrotext limit. However, no individual line in a macro may be more than 1023 characters long (you will get a warning). The number of lines is unlimited. Super Duper Macro also allows you to share macros with your friends in-game.

This mod allows you to make two types of macros:

  • Button macros are just like regular macros, but they can be as long as you want. You cannot make an unlimited number of them; they share a limit with your regular macros (36 global and 18 character-specific for each character).
  • Floating macros do not have buttons, and are accessed by /click. You can make as many of these as you want.
  • You can also make lua scripts of unlimited length that you can call using "/sdm run <name>" or via sdm_RunScript("name")

Suggestions and bug reports are always welcome. You can post comments on the wowinterface.com page for this addon, or if you want to add something yourself, you can upload it in the "Optional Files" tab.

Alternately, create a pull request to my GitHub repo: https://github.com/hypehuman/super-duper-macro

Special thanks to:
  • SuperMacro, which inspired the idea for this addon.
  • All the regulars on the UI & Macro forums, who taught me how to program for WoW.

This occurs because you moved the original frame, and for some reason, the "button" locations don't update.

The way to fix this is quit the game. Edit the file "layout-local.txt" in your WTF\Account\Realm ---- Or WTF\Account\Realm\Player if you have individual settings.

Find the following block of text - the numbers may be different:

Frame: sdm_mainFrame
FrameLevel: 22
Anchor: LEFT
X: 0
Y: 99
W: 832
H: 447

Delete it. All set. Be careful not to move the frame.

Actually this is one of my favourite addons!

It's handy to use and the function to store the macros in selfcreated folders is just awesome.

But I have one problem with this addon...the function to CREATE folders is nice as I said, but it also should give a function to DELETE the folders aswell when you doesn't need it anymore.

Can perhabs anybody tell me how I can delete the folders that I don't need anymore?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Nuín

P.S.: I hope ya can understand me, I'm a german and eventually my english is a lil bit rusty^^

I've been using SDM without issue for a while now. Today, I started having this problem:

When opening SDM, its frames are all over the place. (I.e., one frame shows my macros, but the edit box is way across the screen instead of next to them. There is just a black background where it is supposed to be). I tried quitting my game and coming back in, and now its even worse. The box now takes up the entire screen, with the closing X and "About SDM" being in the far upper right, the edit box being in the bottom left, the macro list being in the upper left...

Whats going on here? I've tried exitting and reentering the game, no dice.

I looked for that layout-local.txt file, in case that was the problem, but it wasn't there...

I am trying to create a nice LFW macro .. on that really stands out .. with both a Enchanting and Jewelcrafting link in them. However I have 2 problems.

1) I can't put a trade skill link in the macro with SDM.

2) with 2 trade links the Macro FAR exceeds the 255 char limit, so I would need 1 macro to call the second macro and hopefully get something like this..

/2.Trade: Gezus' Old Fashioned
/2.Trade: [Jewelcrafting] & [Enchanting]
/2.Trade: No job to small. Disenchanting/Prospecting!
/2.Trade: Working for Tips!

With both links being click able. Though .. I "think" it is impossible to have 2 links on 1 line. In that case something like...

/2.Trade: Gezus' Old Fashioned
/2.Trade: [Jewelcrafting] &
/2.Trade: [Enchanting]
/2.Trade: No job to small. Disenchanting/Prospecting!
/2.Trade: Working for Tips!

Would love to keep it to 4 lines though .. 5 is getting a bit overwhelming.

:P

#showtooltip question

Greetings! I just discovered SDM today for macros longer than 255 characters, and it looks very promising! However, I am having an issue with a long macro not showing the tooltip. Here is the full macro:

Code:
#showtooltip
/console Sound_EnableSFX 0
/castsequence reset=target/combat/6 Icy Touch,Plague Strike,Blood Strike,Blood Strike,Death Coil,Scourge Strike,Horn of Winter,Scourge Strike,Death Coil,Scourge Strike,Scourge Strike
/cast !Blood Fury
/use 13
/console Sound_EnableSFX 1
In standard macros, this works just fine (so long as you don't go over the 255 character limit). Here, once you go over the 255 limit, showtooltip stops working and it just shows the default "?" icon with the default macro text. Any suggestions?

I'm having the same issue with my macros that are longer than 255 chars. Is there a way to fix this or do I have to just deal with it if I want a more than 255 char macro.

I would like to notify EVERYBODY that uses this AddOn or is going to use it:

Hypehuman (the creator, developer and founder of this AddOn) is no longer active. Not on the AddOn, not on the site. He suddenly vanished from WoWInterface more then a year ago (11-1-2009 to be exact).

This AddOn has NOT been taken over by anyone, and nobody seems to be interested enough in taking this over. You can use it, but bugs will most likely not be fixed or hot-fixed.
If you're having severe problems with this and really need those longer macro's, a good AddOn I know of that can do this is Macaroon! (by Maul). This is however a complete bar mode, which may be not your choice.

If I ever get a good hang on AddOn writing I might see if I can take this over, but this won't be any soon, and most likely never.

Thanks for reading

About the #showtooltip problem, it's a known issue. It just bugs out after 255 character because the #showtooltip command doesn't read behind 255 characters (due to Blizzard's 255 character limit) and it hasn't been fixed. You can try taking #showtooltip <spellname> (without the < >) to get the tooltip of one spell, but it can't change to the other spells in the macro automatically.
Hope this answers your question.. Somewhat

~Deep

I found a bug:
- will predictably crash wow if I have a whole lot of comments at the start of the file. Fix it by adding some code at the very top, like:
/run local f=1

SDM is a critical part of my playing WoW. I'm saddened to hear that it's been abandoned and that nobody else has picked it up. I'm investigating some other AddOns and I will try to report back if I find anything good.

I'm sorry for the long reply but I didn't visit the site until today.
Here's the script :

#showtooltip (This is just if you want the Jewelcrafting tooltip and icon to show)
/2 Gezus' Old Fashioned
/cast Jewelcrafting
/script Prof1 = GetTradeSkillListLink();
/cast Jewelcrafting
/cast Enchanting
/script Prof2 = GetTradeSkillListLink();
/cast Enchanting
/script SendChatMessage(Prof1..Prof2 , "CHANNEL", nil, "2")
/2 No job too small. Disenchanting/Prospecting!
/2 Working for Tips!

Tested it with Forge and Cooking just to be sure and it worked so it should worked for you too if you haven't found an alternative yet.
You will get a little lag though when you click it.

EDIT: Shortened the quote and corrected "to small" to "too small"

Question Links

I just downloaded this SDM add-on. Is there a way to put your trade skill links into the macro when you use the super version? I tried to click my jc link like I do in the bliz macro but it does not show up. How do I put the link into the SDM macro style?

As I've posted below, the links can be obtained through a script :

#showtooltip (This is just if you want the Jewelcrafting tooltip and icon to show)
/cast Jewelcrafting
/script Prof1 = GetTradeSkillListLink();
/cast Jewelcrafting
/script SendChatMessage(Prof1 , "CHANNEL", nil, "2")

Hope this helps
