Recipe Radar  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.403
by: kernighan, ladenedge

Recipe Radar assists players in finding recipes. It knows about vendors who sell recipes in the current region or by profession. It has a number of filtering options and can even locate vendors on the world map.

Classic version available at: https://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info25229-RecipeRadarClassic.html

Tips:

  • There are two "tabs": the main "radar" tab and one that searches by profession!
  • You can bind a key to Recipe Radar through the main menu!
  • There are lots of filtering options - use the dropdowns to customize Recipe Radar!
  • Some internal maps are inaccurate at this time, it is currently a work in progress to fix these up.

wrt localization, did you think about trying to mine from the armory?
It's a bit work wrt the scripts since you have to tell by http header which language you want but the data is most likely up2date and official.

This addon causes a few issues.

1. It disables tracking icons
2. Opens ATSW when it's window is opened.

Updated Vendors

Great Mod....love it

The only thing I noticed missing, and from my reading learned that you personally can not fix it, is too add missing Vendors. I thought maybe that I could manually map or add vendors as I came crossed them, but guess not. This would be a really Kewl Fix if it could be implemented, or maybe have an automated something or other to plot them to your database so the Author can add them.....

Anyway, Love the add on, please keep it up..... Great Work

Can you add support for Cartographer, so that the vendor note is showing on the map.

A little fix for WoW 2.2

I have come to rely on Recipe Radar in the brief time since I began to use it. It's a brilliant AddOn! Like many other players, Blizzard's upgrade of WoW to 2.2 caught me off guard and I've been frantically trying to get the updates for the AddOns that I use. I've been a little frustrated by the experience, since 2.2 seems rather picky and doesn't seem to want to load an AddOn that hasn't specifically been updated for v2.2. However, WoW will load an AddOn if the AddOn .toc file tells WoW that it is for version 2.2. Basically what this means is in order to get WoW to load the AddOn all you need to do is to make the first line in the AddOn's .toc file read:

## Interface: 20200

I decided to help things along by changing the first line in the .toc of the AddOns I couldn't live without, but was unable to find the updates for. The result is that the AddOns do load and seem to work. I don't know how stable they're going to be, but if you're reading this because you like Recipe Radar and it isn't working for WoW 2.2 . . . open up the document titled RecipeRadar.toc with a text editor and change the first line as mentioned above.

Nonetheless, Mr. Miller's Recipe Radar is simply awesome! Thanks ladenedge!

Don't change the .toc file!

KVLtv, I realize you mean well, but it isn't necessary - in fact, it's downright risky - to change the .toc file to force out of date AddOns to load.

Instead, on the game character selection screen, click the AddOns button in the lower left hand corner, then tick the checkbox next to "Load out of date AddOns" above the window with your AddOn list.

Getting constant errors from this now, every couple of minutes it's throwing up an error about being unable to find a library called Astrolabe 0.4! This error makes RecipeRadar totally useless now.

EDIT: Did a little bit of digging around, seems that Recipe Radar is now "supposed" to use Astrolabe for displaying icons on the minimap, unfortunately no version of Astrolabe is included in Recipe Radar v1.25 which is why this version of Recipe Radar constantly throws an error message!

The only other addon that I use which also uses Astrolabe is TomTom, but it seems as if the version of Astrolabe included with TomTom is a "unique" version ("Astrolabe-0.4-NC"), which I guess the author of TomTom has done so as not to break any other addons using Astrolabe.

However, having checked other addons that use Astrolabe, I found that the latest version of Gatherer (v3.1.1) does use "Astrolabe-0.4" so I'm going to try copying the Astolabe folder from Gatherer into Recipe Radar's folder to see if that fixes the error! I'll post back later after I've had a chance to test this.

EDIT 2: Copying the Astrolabe folder from the latest Gatherer to RecipeRadar's folder seems to fix the "missing lib" error!

Gah! I did indeed completely forget to include several new source files in the v1.25 distribution - thank you everyone for the prompt and thorough reporting of this nasty bug. The v1.26 distribution should be complete, so please try that one at your convenience.

My humblest apologies for the irresponsible release!

Freezing screen

Today and yesterday when I used a portal with a character, my screen freezes and I need to close the game with Alt F4.
Today I tried my addons, with disabling etc. and I discovered it is Recipe Radar which causes it.
Dunno if other ppl having the same problem, but I thought I mention it here.
For now I have disabled Recipe Radar and I await to see if other ppl also has the problem, or if it is something that can be found or something.

I've been using RR for a long while and like very much. It's such a time saver :-).

I have one nagging issue with it that I don't know if it was ever reported.

Every now and again, RR will forget most (if not all) of the tradeskill of one of my alts. I normally see that when I go to Shat and have 14 little scroll indicators that pup-up in the minimap only to find out that RR believe that my level 375 need to learn how to do 16 slots bag. To correct the issue, I need to relog with the alt and open the tradeskill window in question. This happen with any of my alts and for any tradeskill. Normally, it happens for one tradeskill for a particular alt but sometime for both of them.

I've tried to note if I'm doing anything particular to make the problem happen and I can't reproduce it at will for now. The one clue I have is that it appears to happen if I use the filters in the tradeskill window. It's like RR sometimes decided the the filtered output is everything that the character know and erase everything else.

I'll try to dig in the code when I have the chance but I was wondering if you could point me to the sections of RR where the tradeskill for a character are saved (and erased :-) ). I was also wondering if I was the only one having this issue.

If you want me to do things in particular when the problem happen, let me know.

Lockup on Teleport

when I used a portal with a character, my screen freezes
I was having this same thing happen when attempting to use the portal from Shatt to the new Isle, or teleport back to Shatt from the Isle.

This appears to be an issue with Astrolabe, the latest version of that library apparently fixes this. I copied the Astrolabe folder from the latest Gatherer release into the Recipe Radar folder, overwriting the existing files, and the problem went away.
