Action Bar Saver  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v2.3.3
by: Shadowed [More]

Quick little mod, allows you to setup different profiles for your action bars. Mainly this is for hybrid classes that want to be able to respec without spending 10-20 minutes setting their action bars up. All you do is type /abs save <name> and it'll save the location of all your spells, macros and items.

For example, if you're currently a Feral Druid you can type /abs save feral then you can respec to Resto and setup your bars, then type /abs save resto once you go respec back to Feral you can then train all your spells again and type /abs restore feral and you'll get your feral setup without all the work of actually finding where you placed things.

Works with any custom interface like Bongos provided you're not using more then the standard 120 action buttons, ones that provided features to go past 120 will cause only the standard 120 to be saved/restored. This isn't a bug however, just a limitation in the WoW API

isn`t this addon suposed to save the location of your skills on your actionbars and then restore them if you move them / remove them (in case of respec for example) ?

No, you save your action bars to a profile and (by default) it'll auto save whenever you leave the world (Logout, or zone into/out of an instance) it'll resave your action bars to that profile.

To change profiles you do /abs restore <profile> and it'll switch your bar setup to whatever was saved to that one.

Hmm, then what do you mean by saving your action bars ?

According to this
* Saves your current action bars including macros, spells and items for restoring later
he actually does mean spells/abilities/etc. Not bar placement.

Fyi latest version fixes issues with it restoring messed up profiles, you will need to resave them but it'll save by name/rank now, instead of spell index.

Looking into fixing the macro issue with a better way of identifying them then by index as well.

It should work with any custom UI, provided they only use 120 action buttons, ones that do specific custom code to give you more then 120 buttons will cause ABS to only save/restore for those 120 but not the custom ones.

Forgot to add this to the description, fixed

Lots of improvements in r615, I'm fairly sure I have it working perfectly now even if you delete macros, or have items equipped but not in bags.

Also includes more verbose information about what it failed to restore.

great update, am I wrong or are you saving items on char also or something? What exactly is up with that?

No it means that items you put on your action bar will be correctly saved, before if you had say your PvP trinket on your action bars and it was equipped it wouldn't correctly restore it, now it will.

Is there a file that needs to be backed up should one be concerned about hard drive crashes or a total reinstall of an operating system? I do a lot of switching UI's around and it would save a lot of time to be able to restore my buttons on the fly. Thanks!

The specific file you want to save is located inside <WoW Path>\WTF\Account\<ACCOUNT NAME>\SavedVariables\ActionBarSaver.lua

Generally if you want to make sure you have all your addons/addon config saved then you want to backup the entire Interface and WTF folders.

You can now use auto save correctly again without it corrupting your profiles.

You will need to set your current profile via /abs restore if you want it to start auto saving to that character

Quick Question (may be dumb and/or obvious), If I use Bongos and have this save my action bar settings and then I switch to Bartender 3 and do a restore, will it place all my spells, macros etc on the new bar mods buttons?
