Cirk's Lootvalue  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.2.0
by: Cirk [More]

What is Lootvalue?
Lootvalue is another show-the-vendor-price-of-items-in-the-tooltip addon, but it also knows about what items are used as reagents for other items via your tradeskills, and so can show you what items are used for. So if you've ever wondered what tradeskills those items in your bags can be used for, Lootvalue can help!

Lootvalue was written to minimize memory usage and to be as non-invasive as possible, so it should run safely on everything capable of running WoW. It is also a learning addon, so it will always learn about changes in prices and usage from the game as you play.

Lootvalue now contains its own built-in set of about 26,000 item prices (courtesy of Informant and SellFish primarily) along with a selection of usage information for various tradeskills (helpfully supplied by various members of The Applesauce Gang, the tradeskillers in the Doomhammer alliance trade channels, and Maldivia's Tradelinks addon). A user's own data will be used to compliment this built-in data set, and will always be used automatically in preference if it differs from the built-in data.

Stack size
By default, Lootvalue will show the stack size of items (if they have one) in the top-right corner of the tooltip. If you prefer, you can tell Lootvalue to show the stack size on its own line using the /lootvalue stack line slash command, or not to display it at all using /lootvalue stack off. To restore to the default corner position, just use /lootvalue stack corner.

Sell prices
The sell price to a vendor is shown at the bottom with gold, silver, and copper values shown as colored text fields, by default. You can disable this, or set it to show in the normal blizzard "coin" style using the /lootvalue price command.

Item usage
By default, Lootvalue only shows the item usage when the ALT key is pressed, but you can change that to always show it through the /lootvalue usage on command, or you can change it to another key using /lootvalue usage ctrl (control key) or /lootvalue usage shift (shift key), but leaving it at alt is recommended because the control and shift keys are used by the default client for other meanings.

You can change what tradeskills are shown in the tooltip when displaying the usage of an item so that it shows only those skills known by the current character using /lootvalue usage self, all those known to Lootvalue but with only those known by the current character shown in color (which is the default as seen in the image) using /lootvalue usage color, or all tradeskills known by Lootvalue in their appropriate colors using /lootvalue usage all.

Colors in the usage list reflect the rarity of the item for which the tooltip'd item is a reagent for.

You can also tell Lootvalue to not show the usage for a particular item at all through the /lootvalue ignore slash command. You'll still see the vendor sell price though!

Auction house
One other feature that you might like is that when you visit the auction house, Lootvalue will (optionally) show you the bid and buyout price of each item in the tooltip as you mouse over it, and will show you those prices per item when the item is a stack, making it very easy to compare prices between stacks of different sizes. Note that there isn't any historical data associated with this (i.e., Lootvalue isn't an auction scanning addon), it just provides you with the current information on a per item basis to make it easy to compare prices and determine which stacks to spend your gold on.

Integration with Lootcounter
If you have Cirk's Lootcounter installed, Lootvalue can automatically show which of your characters have the item shown in the tooltip, and how many of them they have. This is controlled by the /lootvalue count option, and defaults to on if Lootcounter is present.

Importing data from other addons
The 2.3 version of Lootvalue starts off with a built-in set of item prices and some initial tradeskill usage information. Lootvalue will learn further tradeskill information simply by you opening your tradeskill windows, but vendor pricing it learns as you gain items and then visit a vendor or merchant. One way to quickly get a large database of vendor prices is to use Lootvalue's /lootvalue import slash command. The import command currently knows how to read data from Telo's Lootlink, from Informant (which is the component of Auctioneer that handles vendor price information), and from any other addon that provides the GetSellValue API.

Importing data from Lootlink happens immediately when you run the command. Importing from Informant and from other GetSellValue providing addons takes a few minutes, but this happens in the background so it shouldn't stop you from doing anything else that you'd normally do. Lootvalue will print a message when it is done, but if you miss it, or are wondering if it is still importing, just do /lootvalue import again and Lootvalue will tell you whether it is still importing or whether the import completed! (Lootvalue remembers the version of the information you last imported in the case of Informant, so it won't try and import it again).

Once the importing is done, you can (optionally) logout and disable Lootlink or Informant or the other data providing addon, and then you can log back in and let Lootvalue work for you instead. Of course if you need features that Lootvalue doesn't have but those other addons do then you'll need to leave them enabled.

Tradeskill recipes
Lootvalue can show you what recipes are used to create items if you have the item link or ID (from a chat channel), have the item shown in the item tooltip (by clicking on a link), or can mouseover the item in question using the /lv id command. This command will also show you the level of an item if you want to know this.

Lootvalue slash commands
Lootvalue supports the following slash commands:

/lootvalue on enables Lootvalue
/lootvalue off disables Lootvalue
/lootvalue ignore stops showing usage information for the item under the cursor
/lootvalue restore restore usage information for the item under the cursor
/lootvalue ignore <item> stops showing usage information for the specified item
/lootvalue restore <item> restore usage information for the specified item
/lootvalue stack on show item stack size in tooltip
/lootvalue stack off don't show item stack size in tooltip
/lootvalue stack line show item stack size on its own tooltip line
/lootvalue stack corner show item stack size in the tooltip's top-right corner
/lootvalue usage on show item usage in tooltip
/lootvalue usage off don't show item usage in tooltip
/lootvalue usage alt show item usage only when ALT key is pressed
/lootvalue usage ctrl show item usage only when CTRL key is pressed
/lootvalue usage shift show item usage only when SHIFT key is pressed
/lootvalue usage all show all known item uses"
/lootvalue usage self show only item uses for the current character
/lootvalue usage color show all known item uses but color only those for the current character
/lootvalue price on shows item prices in the tooltip using Lootvalue's format
/lootvalue price coin shows item prices in the tooltip using Blizzard's coin style format
/lootvalue price off stops Lootvalue from showing item prices in the tooltip
/lootvalue counts on show the count of the current item found on each of your characters (requires Lootcounter, default if present)
/lootvalue counts off does not show the item count data from Lootcounter.
/lootvalue auction on show bid and buyout prices in tooltips at auction house
/lootvalue auction off stop showing bid and buyout prices at auction house
/lootvalue id provides item details (including spell links if crafted) for the item shown in the item tooltip or under the mouse cursor
/lootvalue id <item> provides item details for the specified item
/lootvalue import import item prices from other known addons
/lootvalue importall import all item prices from other known addons (replacing your own price data)
/lootvalue status shows the status of Lootvalue
You can also use /lv instead of /lootvalue.

Note that settings are not character specific, so any change you make on one character will affect all your characters (no matter which server).

Enjoy!
-- Cirk

Many thanks particularly to Baramn, Flang, Shea, Snowene, and Siana of The Applesauce Gang on Doomhammer for your tradeskill and crafting data!

Also a huge thanks to Maldivia for the excelled Tradeskills addon, which has made keeping Lootvalue up to date across the various patches soooo much easier!

Lootvalue v3.1.0

Just uploaded v3.1.0 with a bunch of changes and improvements, including using a lot less memory (down to under 500kB), and adding in the ability to get a recipe link from a item (if it is crafted) using the /lv id command.

fuqinisim, this version should work with Bagnon and Armory now - thanks for the heads up on that issue.

beserk1, I've added display of the item level to the /lv id command, which you can use with an item link, or when the item shown in the item tooltip (from clicking a link in chat), or when you are moused over the item in question. It doesn't show in the tooltip itself though.

Update

Hey Cirk, I was just wondering if you were going to update this addon cause I really miss it. I really like the fact that it shows me what the items are used for in professions. So if you could please update the addon.
Thanks
Keith

Hello! I tried your addon and liked it. The customization is nice and it's feaure rich. I been using Colalight then ItemPriceTooltip. I like the abilty to push a modifier and see the tradeskills its used for. My only problem is, it doesnt seem to hook into other "special" tooltips. Like using Bagnon or Armory I get no sell values in the tooltips, whereas with ItemPriceTooltip i get the sell values when i mouseover my bank when viewing remotely. Anyway,GREAT addon, only thing keeping me from abandoning IPT is the lack of this feature. Keep up the great work! Thanks for your time!

Lootvalue v3.0.2 - more dataz!

Version 3.0.2 has a bunch more item price data (courtesy of SellFish 2.1.4), more tradeskill data (courtesy of, well, a lot of people on Doomhammer), and now adds the /lootvalue price coin option if you want to see item prices in Blizzard style coin format, rather than Lootvalue's default (as many have requested ).

No plans to add item level (yet) though I'm afraid beserk1.

Also, thanks to those of you who PM'd me about sending me their WotLK price data, and apologies I didn't get back to everyone!

any plan on adding show item level to the feature list?

you can follow the current idea and allow the feature to be turn off.

currently I have to use 2 addons to achieve this.

I had SellFish prior to this, and Informant before that. Once I switched to SellFish, I realized I didn't have a stack-size element in the tooltip any more, which lead me to this addon. Works like a charm.

To those that need WotLK vendor information: Just load the latest SellFish build alongside this addon, use the "/lv import" command, and it successfully loads SellFish's entire WotLK database (over 4,000 new prices!)

Seems like there's some interest here for the "coin style" loot value, so I'll look at adding that for the next version

In regards to WotLK prices, basically no-one has collected enough price data to update this - its all based on user collected values, and those values are shared through addons like Lootvalue.

If you have a lot of WotLK item price information that you'd like to share, feel free to PM me here at WoWInterface with your Lootvalue.lua file from your WTF/<accountname>/SavedVariables directory, and I'll roll those into the next release!

Cirk, first off, Thank you for the amazing work you have put into this.
I'm seconding cawfee's request to have vendor "Coin" values as well. I used to use itempricetooltip, but with it's author leaving WoW, it, and it's itemprice library, have not and will not be updated for awhile. As your addon is one of the few able to import prices from other libraries (like the 100% complete EWOlson_GetSellValue library), I very much want to use yours. However, I am accustomed to the vendor style.
Personally, I don't care about item price per item in a stack. Infact, I edited your file to only show the price for the entire stack of stacked item. I attempted personally to add the images, but I'm still fairly new to lua. If you could perhaps make another option for us coin wanters, I would be eternally grateful.

Does this include values for WotLK loot? I'm having a hard time choosing quest rewards based on values....

GetSellValue Support

Greetings, I have a small request regarding the GetSellValue support in the mod. But I'll start with a little example that explains the problem, I am the author of a mod that deals with looting items, and one of the ways it allows users to loot is by the value of the item. Now seeing as how the GetSellValue API allows me to code the use of one function which would allow users to use any supporting value mod they wish and it'd work fine its a great idea, I've used informant and itemprice tooltips before and everything worked fine.

However once I switched to your mod since I like a number of the features you have such as stack number in tooltip and so on and that yours is updated, I started going around and noticed things weren't looting by my set values. I took a glance at your code and noticed that your GetSellValue API support isn't exactly on the mark, as your function for it isn't just "GetSellValue" (as listed at Here) but Lootvalue.GetSellValue, which sort of defeats the purpose of the API, since other authors need to code specific for your version of GetSellValue (they can't just call "GetSellValue" and have it work with yours, they have to call Lootvalue.GetSellValue).

But anyhow, I apologize for the length of this post, but I just thought I'd point that out in hope that you could change that, and thank you for the mod as well.

Hi Cawfee, unfortunately simply adding the "coin" style output that merchants etc., use would prevent Lootvalue from being able to show you prices per item for multiple item stacks. At least, not without a lot of work anyway . So for now I'm not planning on adding that, although if enough people want it, I'll add it in .
