Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.1.1
by: Phanx [More]

Grid has been continued as Plexus by Doadin. Use that instead; Grid has not been updated since 2018 and will not be updated in the future.

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.
The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

Hello guys, I have a problem with my Grid frames, when ever I enter a battleground or a raid the fames resets to the middle of the screen. Can I somehow change this so it always stay in the same position?

Grid has nothing to do with casting spells, or the "action in progress" error. Grid also has absolutely no control over whether or not the WoW game client gives it accurate information about incoming healing. Try adjusting the lag tolerance setting in the WoW game client's options menu.

Grid contains no code which changes settings without user action. Either you have some other addon (probably some crappy premade UI package) forcibly overwriting your settings, or there is something wrong with your hard drive and/or operating system and/or WoW installation that is preventing WoW from correctly saving your addon settings between login sessions.

I recently returned to wow so I'm not sure when this was changed but when using Grid and "spamming" heals so that I click the heal before i can actually queue it and getting he "another action is in progress" error the incoming heal (both the text and the bar) will stop displaying. If i just cast a spell and let it finish, or even just wait between spells enough so that i don't get the error I'll have no problems with the inc heals, but if i try to cast it too soon the inc heals indicators just disappear. I'm guessing it has something to do with grid now using the built in blizzard inc heals function, as in previous version i did not have this issue. Is there an option to disable this ?

It's in the same place it's always been: Grid > Frame > Center Text Length

You are running an outdated plugin that tries to add options to the Frame section, but has still not been updated for the changes to Grid's configuration window. Update or replace your Grid plugins.

Can't for the life of me find where to change the name length for the center text object to more than 4 characters in this new version, any help? ;D

Also the bottom of my "Frame" window looks like its overlapping (fresh install of wow with just Grid 4.1.0.1441) so maybe that option is down there somewhere, I just can't get to it.

Screenshot here of how it looks for me:

4.1.0.1441
  • When typing in the "Add new buff/debuff" option fields, an auto-complete dropdown will appear with matching spell names.
  • Range checking has been simplified, and now uses the standard Blizzard range functions. If you preferred the old range checking based on spell ranges, use the GridStatusMultiRange plugin.
  • Fixed several issues with frame positioning.
  • Fixed the layout border color option.
  • (Plugin API) Added support for texture coordinates for status textures.
  • (Plugin API) Improved support for dynamic status colors.

There isn't one. If the timer spiral makes the icon too hard to see, don't turn it on. I have no plans to add options to micromanage the timer spiral's opacity, etc.

Looking for some help

I'm trying to find a way to make the center icon in grid that serves as my main debuff pane to show the spell in full color rather than faded at first when show durations is checked, Mainly because I can't make out what the icon of the debuff is when the timer is ticking.

Never really noticed it before, my eye sight may really be getting worse from all the games I play.

If anyone knows how to make this happen post here, I'll be checking back, thanks!

Seems to be making the error go away for me..

show health, in ###k and %
You can see current health instead of missing health by assigning the Unit Health status to the Center Text icon, instead of the Health Deficit status. If you want to see health as a percent in text, you will need to use a plugin.

a tooltip showing the spells, and how much mana etc, would this be doable, or is this something I should ask the Clique author?
Any requests regarding click-casting should be addressed to the author of Clique. Grid has no control over click-casting functionality.

move the icons to the corners
Use a plugin. There are numerous plugins that add additional icon indicators, including in the corners of frames. There's a list of available plugins in the User's Guide, which is linked in the addon description.

grid doesn't seem to be working with clique correctly.
Could you be more specific? Which click bindings have you encountered the issue with? (eg. "Flash Heal bound to Shift-RightClick") Does the problem occur when Clique and Grid (without any plugins) are the only addons enabled? Do you have the same problem if you bind the same ability to the same click combination using a different click-casting solution, such as GridClickSets? Do any Lua errors trigger when the problem occurs? (Enable Lua errors under Interface Addons > Help, or install BugSack.) Please post a bug report with your responses; see the addon description for a link to the bug tracker.

How can I make my buff / debuff icons show the duration on the buff / debuff?
Grid only supports this on the Center Icon indicator, and you need to enable it under Frame > Icon Options > Enable Icon Cooldown Frame (despite the name, it shows the aura duration, not the ability cooldown). If you want to see the duration as text, you will need to use a plugin. If you have a third-party plugin adding other icon indicators, you will need to refer to that plugin's documentation for instructions on how to make it show text durations (if it supports that).
