Ackis Recipe List  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 7.2.0.2
by: Torhal, Ackis, Resa1983

Ackis Recipe List is an AddOn which will scan your trade skill recipes and print out a list of which recipes you are currently missing. It will work for all tradeskills.

Profession AddOns:
Due to the increasing data size and memory usage with each WoW expansion, the professions have been split into their own AddOns; you need only download the ones you'll be using. Each installed and enabled profession AddOn will load whenever it's first accessed by the ARL core.

The way you resized the interface options frame is breaking the option buttons of other addons. I suggest you stick with the default size plz.

The options window is customizable.

You can drag it around to be the size you want.

If other addons don't anchor their points properly, I suggest you get them to anchor their points properly.

Can you resize the actual window or is it only the Interface Options? I'm trying to make the list itself bigger but not having much luck with that.

No, the window can`t be resized... I`m looking at ways to deal with the long text however or make it resizeable.

Really love this addon, a must have for the wife and I. Is there a way to only add one single vendor to TomTom manually, say right clicking on the coordinates? Most of our characters are low level which means lots of missing recipes. Adding that many waypoints all at once when clicking the scan button is causing TomTom to crash. I've also experimented with Carbonite which can accept TomTom waypoints and it doesn't crash, but in some ways is worse because you end up with a routing nightmare (animated arrows everywhere lol). Thanks!

Some comments about r1565 follow. These are mostly relevant to initial installs and/or new users, and focus on the data in the tooltips and how it is presented. These aren't necessarily 'bugs' but just wanted to give some critical feedback.

Font size and/or perhaps tooltip scale makes the text in the ARL tooltip hard to read on my setup. On a default configuration for ARL (new install, no prior SVs), the ARL tip is the only tooltip where the text is very small and the edges of the fonts have a very bad aliasing effect.

Some recipes are available from so many vendors/locations that the tooltips are difficult to use, even on larger displays. In many cases, they don't 'fit' on screen and the tips end up overlapping if they pop too close to the screen edge. This is probably why the default tip scale is set so low.

When filtering on Faction, the tip data presents opposing faction NPC and location data. The tip data should probably follow the filter options by default, though I don't see a problem with a separate toggle option for the tip data separate from the ARL frame filters. In this instance, if you filter faction, then the tips would not show opposing faction NPC/location data. Other filter options may react similarly, though I've not specifically looked at the issue beyond the Faction filter data.

The result of such a change relating to the filtering options and tip data might allow us to scale to the tips to 1.0, reducing or eliminating the legibility issues - but with less data to display the overall tip size might still be on par with the current setup.

I've not had a chance to do anything with the TomTom integration. I didn't even realize it was there. I'll look for it after server downtime completes.

All constructive and well thought out feedback is welcomed. I haven't done a fresh install in a while I admit and I appreciate your comments.

The tooltips have always been an issue. The default tooltip scale is only 0.9, so it shouldn't be shrinking that much. I think this all has to do with the "tooltip overload" that you mention next.

Yes this has been a huge issue. I set the default to never show opposite faction for trainers for example (with no way to toggle that) however there are still a bunch of other recipes that get these. I never really concerned myself with it for a few reasons, namely that the more vendors it exists on, the easier it is to get it. I'm always after suggestions to this.

The filter should prevent the tooltips from showing opposite faction stuff. This is a bug for sure, if you could please make a ticket for me?

There will still be certain tooltips that are overloaded with information, that's something I need to deal with, and I'm not sure of a "good" way to do it. Sort of an interim solution was the ability to customize the tooltip placement, which are displayed, etc.

Make sure you read all the options correctly for it, but it works really nifty.

Question Sorting

Is there a way to make the recipes switch between Ascending and Descending order? I'd rather have my higher recipies at the top since i'm more interested in the ones I can use for skill ups.

I have put in a suggestion ticket on WoWAce to have a filter to show only recipes you can skill up on.

I wanted to follow-up on this: The filters do work for Trainer NPCs. The tips show opposing faction NPCs for non-Trainer recipes however, and because my ARL list is set to show only those recipes I don't know (which tend to be those granted by quests or exist only on specific vendors), I confused the issue. Example: Quest, Seasonal, and Vendor (not Trainer) recipes show Horde NPCs for my Alliance characters, and vice-versa.

But you already knew that, because as response to my earlier post you had a comment:
I never really concerned myself with it for a few reasons, namely that the more vendors it exists on, the easier it is to get it.
As a preference, I would have faction filtering determine whether or not opposing faction NPCs show at all - regardless of recipe source. I can understand the opposing preference, however. I will open a 'suggestion' ticket instead of a defect ticket on this, and perhaps other users will vote on the ticket with their preference.

Relating to small fonts and bad aliasing in the tips:
I took a very close look at my own setup, and have found a solution for my own configuration. But first, I need to underscore (for everyone interested in this issue) that apparent font size is determined not just by font size settings in WoW and within various addon configuration options, but also by UI scaling, addon-specific frame scaling, monitor size, eyeballs, etc. Therefore, my solution may not be a very good one for everyone. With that said, I did a full-text search for 'font' and found line 619 in ARLframe.lua:
Code:
        local fontsize = 11
I changed the value to 12 and saw improvement, as apparently that setting is somehow tied to the bits of text in the tips that appear smallest (e.g. the 'bind on equip' text and vendor name/location information).

So... what would I change? Perhaps I would have the tip text font size settings exposed within the ARL configuration panel for users to set themselves. While the tooltip scale option is available (good), that setting increases the size of the entire tip and tip text - and you can end up with HUGE tip titles to go along with the increased detail data (bad). I can open a suggestion ticket for this as well, but I am not 100% certain I've missed something - so wouldn't mind reading your input on this first.

Finally, about TomTom integration, you made the point that I should pay attention to the options descriptions:
Make sure you read all the options correctly for it, but it works really nifty.
I looked for readme files and in-game /arl documentation text. Where are these option descriptions or docs? I don't want to miss anything.

Thanks!

Thank you for adding some waypoint granularity! My wife will be happy too. Despite my warnings to set filters before doing a scan (she never listens), she killed her framerate to the point that she had to restart the game lol. It would be nice if we could take that granularity one tiny step further and make it so we could click a single vendor resulting in one single waypoint being set, but I don't want to push my goodwill heh. The only other thing I can thing of is a suggestion to perhaps place the button for clearing ARL waypoints right in the recipe list window rather than buried at the bottom of ARL's option menu.

Thanks again!
