Bongos2  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.10.1
by: Tuller [More]

I have written a new action bar addon, called Dominos, and am no longer supporting this one. Please feel free to try it out, along with Trinity Bars, and Bartender 3

Bongos is an action bar replacement designed to be both low memory, and easy to setup. It is not as feature rich as other bar mods, but should include the features most commonly used.

Version History
A Brief Guide

Included Addons

  • Bongos2: The core addon.
  • Bongos2 ActionBar: Breaks up the main action bar into movable parts
  • Bongos2 Stats: A display for latency, framerate, and memory usage
  • Bongos2 RollBar: Makes the frame for rolling on items movable
  • Bongos2 CastBar: A movable casting bar, with the ability to show cast time
  • Bongos2 XP: A movable experience bar
  • Bongos2 MapBar: A movable mapbar
  • Bongos2 Options: A dynamically loaded options menu for Bongos

Features
  • Every Bongos bar can be moved, hidden, and have its scale and opacity altered
  • Sticky bars - Each bar can be anchored to any other bar
  • 120 action buttons, which can be setup in any number of bars
  • Both macro and key binding text on action buttons can be hidden
  • Customizable stance transitions for each bar

General Settings
  • To bring up the options menu: type /bongos menu
  • To unlock bars: uncheck the lock bars option in the main options menu
  • To hide or show a bar: unlock bars, then middle click or shift right click it
  • To move a bar: unlock bars, and then click and drag it with the left mouse button
  • To bring up a bar's configuration menu, right click it

Key Bindings
  • Bindings for the Bongos action bar should only be done via the bindings menu in Bongos
  • To bind keys, open the main options panel, and select the bindings option. Hover over a button, then press a key to bind it to that button

Action Bar Settings
  • Accessing general action bar options: open up the main options window (/bongos menu) and select the action bars panel
  • Adjusting the layout of a given bar: unlock bars and right click the bar you want to adjust to bring up its configuration menu
  • Moving buttons: Hold down the key for moving buttons (shift by default), and drag a button. Alternatively, unlock button positions by shift right clicking the mini map button, or unchecking the option in the main options menu
  • Making a bar bigger: You can increase the maximum size of a given bar by reducing the number of action bars. To do so, adjust the action bars slider on the action bar panel of the main options menu. This option will reset the settings of your action bars

Stances and Paging
  • Stances and paging are configured via a bar's right click menu. With bars unlocked, right click the bar you want to change,

Slash Commands
  • All commands start with either /bongos, /bob, or /bgs
  • <barList> can have a possible value of an actionbar number, menu, bags, pet. class, or all
  • You can also specify a group or range of bars, the command /bo scale 1-3 class 1.2 will scale action bars 1 2 3, and the class bar to 120% of their normal size.
  • /bongos - Shows the options menu, if present
  • /bongos lock - Toggles locking bars positions
  • /bongos show <barList> - Shows <barList>
  • /bongos hide <barList> - Hides <barList>
  • /bongos toggle <barList> - Toggles <barList>
  • /bongos scale <barList> <scale> - Sets the scale of <barList> to <scale>
  • /bongos setalpha <barList> <opacity> - Sets the opacity of <barList> to <opacity>
  • /bongos set <profile> - Sets the current character to use <profile>
  • /bongos copy <profile> - Copies all settings from <profile>
  • /bongos delete <profile> - Deletes <profile>
  • /bongos reset - Loads default settings
  • /bongos version - Displays what version of bongos you're running
  • /keybound - Toggles keybinding mode

You have to decrease the number of bars to get more than 12 per bar
Bongos doesn't allow different spacing for horizontal/vertical

Any guess when an update will be ready for 2.1 that fixes the stances problem?
Eventually :P

Man I really hope this gets updated / bugfixed. I'm using BT3 now and not liking it. Almost makes me want to go back to default UI bars.

AAh think I've got it

Did this:

function bt3h1_OnLoad()

this:RegisterEvent("PLAYER_TARGET_CHANGED");

-- options for each bar. settings:
-- 1: dont show this bar when there is no

target
-- 0: always show this bar regardless of target

modifyBar1 = 1;
modifyBar3 = 0;
modifyBar4 = 0;
modifyBar5 = 0;
modifyBar6 = 0;

end

function bt3h1_event()

if UnitExists("target") then

-- show the bars based on options above

if modifyBar1 == 1 then
BActionBar.Get(1):ShowFrame()
end

else

-- hide bars based on options above

if modifyBar1 == 1 then
BActionBar.Get(1):HideFrame()
end

end

end

(Based on BT3h1 by patchtimer )

Worked fine

show/hide bars

Hi super mod thnx alot!!!

...but...
I would like some of the bars to hide when not in combat or when no enemytarget selected, found a little simple mod for bratender3 that did that pretty easy (it is a standalone mod):

----------------------------------------------------------------
function bt3h1_OnLoad()

this:RegisterEvent("PLAYER_TARGET_CHANGED");

-- options for each bar. settings:
-- 1: dont show this bar when there is no target
-- 0: always show this bar regardless of target

modifyBar1 = 1;

end

function bt3h1_event()

if UnitExists("target") then

-- show the bars based on options above

if modifyBar1 == 1 then
BActionBar.actionbars[1].frame:Show()
end

else

-- hide bars based on options above

if modifyBar1 == 1 then
Bartender3.actionbars[3].frame:Hide();
end
end

end
-----------------------------------------------------------

Is it possible to call a Function in Bongos like this one does in Bartender3, and if so, what function (class/object) should I call?
What i figured out so far is (i'm guessing here :P) that the file BBar.lua has a Function that sets the visibility of a bar;

-----------------------------------------------
function BBar:ShowFrame()
self.sets.vis = 1
self:Show()
self.dragFrame:UpdateColor()
end

function BBar:HideFrame()
self.sets.vis = nil
self:Hide()
self.dragFrame:UpdateColor()
end

function BBar:ToggleFrame()
if self:IsShown() then
self:HideFrame()
else
self:ShowFrame()
end
end
------------------------------------------------
But how can I control the vis for each bar?

Sorry for the long post :P
Regards
/SirSpikey

It is not just a paging issue, stances have a problem as well. I use 120 bars instead of the default 10 so I can arrange each button individually. As a warrior this means I have to delete the 3 default stance entries and create custom stance rules.

When I create the stances on test, and then change stance, it is not working correctly. Bar 1-10 is my beserker stance, 11-20 is battle. I set a stance rule for Battle to change 1 to 11 just like what I have working in live, but it does not work on test.

If I make the rule Beserker change 1 to 11, it works, but thats backwards. Bar 1 is a Beserker ability, bar 11 is the Battle ability, and I cannot get Defensive stance included in at all.

On a side note, there used to be support for designating button ranges to change in stances, not just one to one. Any chance of that coming back?

Thanks for all the great work.

Warrior Needs Guidance on Setting Up Stances.

So I love bongos. It has simplified my gameplay. At level 66, I'm starting to mature with my character and change my style from clicking to making macros, keybindings/hotkeys, and using mods to aid how I play.

One sticking point for the warrior class, and although there is the built in mod for it, I need assistance on laying out how setup my stances for the warrior class.

What should the reference bar be? Bar 1? Should I be using a bar, or the pages? Everytime I've laid out a bar, filled it out, then sourced it back to 1 bar, it doesn't work. I hide bars, and it still doesn't work. The mod is functional, but, I would like to have it working so that when I change stances, my current abilities for that stance are displayed with the general keybindings based on it's location. Anybody who's played warriors know what I'm talking about.

Underneath the stance-specific bar, I will put my universal abilities, those which are not stance dependent, such as Battle Shout and Demoralizing Shout. I originally had 4 bars piled up, but that only works if you click-play. Learning hotkeys/keybindings would be useless as I'd have 20+ different bindings and would take up more room.
I'm just not sure of the "logic" required to make only 1 stance show it's specific abilities.

If this is stickied somewhere, I would appreciate a link. And it's not, could some give me the BONGOS WARRIOR For DUMMIES rundown. Thanks.

I have only one question for ya, big guy...

Are you going to, perhaps, work with the person who does CyCircled to resolve the pet bar skinning issue with that mod? It's no biggie if not, it'd just be nice if the CyCircled skin would apply to the pet bar as well as all the other bars. I use the Onyx Glossy buttons on my hunters, and it'd be nice if it all matched.

Thanks for the hard work and looking forward to seeing your next update.

Menu/Bag location problems

Originally posted by pr1me
Same thing happened to me, only it's just my menu bar right now. The menu bar is in the upper left corner of my screen and the menu bar "move square" is in the lower right, where I actually want the menu bar to be. I can click on the move square and get the config options for the menu bar, I just can't move the actual bar.

Edit: Ok, I clicked the "Vertical" check box on the menu bar options and after checking it on and then off again, the menu bar is back where it should be and moves around like it should. It's not really a fix as the menu bar detaches from the move square every time my UI is loaded but it's a decent temporary work-around.
I don't see a response to this so I'll help you.

I'm guessing you have Skinner installed... I had this same problem only with Skinner running. The problem is in the layer application of Skinner when it comes to the bag and menu bars.

The fix:

Click the skinner menu, go down to UI Frames, look for the Main Menu Bar submenu, go in there and uncheck "Enable". right-click over your menu bar, check and uncheck "vertical", then right-click your bag bar and check and uncheck "Single Bag" (or something like that).

That should clear the Skinner skin from applying to both of those bars and they should, from here on out, operate properly.

Hope that helps.

Well I tried CooldownCount - but at the same time I switched to Bartender3 as the Bongos issues were making me nuts. I'm sure Tuller will get on this at some point. All is good now, but BT3 isn't as user friendly as Bongos - but less headaches with profiles, etc.
