Crystal UI (Aion: Tower of Eternity)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

This UI is of course inspired by a very cool game called Aion: The tower of Eternity! I loved the interface that they used in the game. Everytime i watch videos of the game I think to my self man that would work so well in world of wacraft. So thats what brings me here today with this UI. This is my Ode to Aion.

Supported resolutions: 1440x900 Widescreen.


Installation:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Step one: Rename your WTF and Interface folders to WTFold and Interfaceold
Step two: Unzip the Crystal UI to either your desktop(or where ever you want to unzip the files)
Step three: Put the interface folder, WTF folder and Font folder in your world of warcraft directory (should be C:/Programs/Worldofwarcraft)
Step Four: inside the WTF folder you will see an account folder. Enter that folder and inside there you will see a folder that says ACCOUNT NAME. Rename this folder to your log in/account name. Make sure you put your account name in all caps!
Step five: Inside the ACCOUNT NAME folder you will see a server name folder. Rename this folder with your servers name.
Step six: Inside the Server Name folder there is a Character Name folder. Rename this folder with the character you wish to use this ui with.
Step seven: Log in.

When logging in for the first time: Type

/reflux switch Crystal UI

you must include the caps! very important!





Addons included:

See picture labeled addons ----->>>>
  • Action bars - /macaroon menu
  • Art - type /kgpanels config
  • tooltips - type /tip
  • unit frames - type /stuf
  • casting bars - type /quartz
  • scrolling text - type /msbt
  • bags - click on the green bag icon on the bags
  • minimap - type /chinchilla for further options. Disable the GUI so you can right click on the minimap for tracking. or enable the tracking button and delete neftracking.
  • experience bar - right click on it
  • buffs - enter interface options and choose Aura frames


If you have any questions regarding any of the above addons feel free to ask. I'll do the best I can to answer your questions. For the most part you shouldn't have to do anything upon loading the UI.

Please report any errors or issues as soon as you get them so i can correct them. Currently with the changes to 3D images I cannot use them for party, target, target of target etc because it keeps showing a full body picture. It works fine for player so i kept that 3d

9/7/08- Added 2 more buttons and edited the pet bar art so it would be more functional. KNOWN ISSUE <> You get an lua error when clicking on the pet portrait to retrieve pet details. It does still work. Ill be checking to find out how to fix that.

Macaroon Confusion

Hi, I loved the look of your addon and I'm trying to get everything set up for a 1920 x 1200 resolution.

1. I can't get the time on the calendar to show without having all of the minimap over the attractive graphic. I couldn't get any of the minimap buttons to behave, so I am using an addon called MBB. If you have suggestions as to how I can get the minimap buttons to display as you had them, I'd welcome them.

2. Just as an fyi, you left a lot of "garbage" in the saved variables folders for addons that had your personal configurations and weren't even in the UI compilation. I cleaned out mine, but it's nice to not have addons that don't belong, especially with personal settings. Outfitter, for example, gave me a shadow priest outfit.

2. Something you have in FluidFrames messes up the bartender actionbar if you attempt to use that instead of macaroons. Just for future reference. When I had fluid frames and Portfolio, with your graphics for frames, BT Bar1 was immovable and in the wrong place. Disabling FluidFrames was the fix.

3. I figured out Macaroon and had everything configured, and out of nowhere, it completely reconfigured itself. any idea what may have caused it? I can't afford to have that happen during a raid, so I disabled it and I went with Bartender instead. I did keep the two round buttons, but they're using up slots shared with bartender bar 3. Any tips on how to change what those two buttons uses would be great.

Pet bar

I can not for the life of me get my pet bar to work correctly. I add buttons and stuff but they dont scale right and when I try /mac scale it won't even let me press enter? Am I doing something wrong? I am trying to set it up exactly as the buttons show (5 on each row) eh but it won't let me. Any ideas? Also, I can understand the simplicity of it all and its very beautiful, but is there anyway I can get my mini bar (character sheet, quest log) back up and bags? I have been searching for that option all night lol. Lastly, (sorry for all of the questions) is there anyway to make the graphical bar bigger so I can make the buttons bigger? I am a clicker :P Just let me know when you get a chance! Thanks!

This isn't my addon, but from my own tinkering to get this to work, I can tell you that you'll need to download either Macaroon Extras to get the microbar back, or use Macaroon in conjunction with another bar addon such as Bartender and enable the micro/bag bars from there.

I promise promise promise to have this updated tonight. I have worked extra hard on the action bars, making sure they change right when you are in a vehicle, possess, pet etc. Most of the issues you guys speak of will be fixed.

like i said i PROMISE to have this up tonight. Logging in right now to finish up. One small issue i am still having is with duel specs. When I switch to my alternate spec, then mount one of the argent mounts for the daily quests in icecrown, i do not get the action bar that i need. But in my primary spec it works fine.

Thank so much for your hard work and for sharing the results with us. It really is such a pretty UI. I think some of us get frustrated because we don't know how all this is put together (since we didn't do it) which makes it difficult to troubleshoot. If we're raiders (as I am) and the UI does "weird" things, it risks our inconveniencing 24 other people - which is not a happy thing.

Any extra documentation you can provide for accessing the config for addons that don't show up in the Blizzard Addons menu (assuming your UI did something that makes its normal functionality not work - we can look them up otherwise) would be great. For example, I was trying to move the tooltip anchor, but despite using what it said were the parameters for the addon, the anchor never showed so I couldn't move it. I also couldn't get any kind of options window to show so I could make the tooltips opaque, as they can be difficult to read. Is this something that is locked down because of the UI's configuration methods?

I have explained all the commands for all the different mods I used. For the tooltips you can type /tip to see the options. click show anchor then you can move it where ever you like.

Questions

Hi, thanks for the updated UI. Opie is awesome, I've been having a blast configuring that for my druid. Really keeps the UI clean/minimizes the number of things you need an actionbar for.

Couple questions/comments:

1. What are you using for the time? I actually got rid of simpleminimap and went to ricominimap to try to fix it (I use 1920 x 1200 so I needed to move stuff). I can move the map, but the time stays in (the wrong) place. The time is just stuck where it's stuck. So is the mail button.

2. Microbar? I have no idea where to find it. Are we supposed to add it ourselves using the addon of our choice?

3. How do you add your own panels? I made one as a background for my chat box (used artwork from Aion site), added to the artpack folder, added it to the .lua file there, added the panel to Kgpanels active iibrary, made a new panel....no graphic. I reloaded UI, I logged out, logged in, making sure the Crystal UI Artback addon was enabled...I have no idea why I can't get it to work. I would be happy to send you the graphic, but I don't want to have to reinstall/reconfigure everything from scratch again. I've spent more time trying to get this UI to work than playing WoW. lol

4. Just curious as to why the party artwork is different from the target artwork? IMHO it doesn't really blend with the UI as well (it's too harsh) and isn't nearly as pretty. I changed my party art to the Target art (including portrait overlay). Please let me know if this was bad to do for some reason. I did NOT create copies of the original art, just have multiple things pointing to the same .tga file. Hopefully that's ok and doesn't cause issues.

5. Stance changes on macaroon bars? When I switch forms on my druid, the action bar doesn't change. I didn't change the settings in Macaroon so I know I didn't break anything.

6. There's a ton of "garbage" in the saved variables folders. Bindpad, adapt, geist, azcastbar, discord stuff, errorredirect, neonchat, ...the list goes on. People who don't know about the saved variables folder could go nuts trying to figure out why new/changed addons have weird info/funky settings in them. It also could cause those addons to fail if there have been major revisions to that addon since the creation of that saved variable file.

I also don't know if there's risk of corruption of those files, and if there was, if it could make WoW bug. GMs are always ranting about addons and deleting the wtf if there are issues, and I've wondered if "ghost" saved variables could corrupt and contribute (I have no idea). Just food for thought.

you can add it by downloading macaroon extras. I don't include it because i find its not needed. Everything on that bar has a shortcut. C for your character, escape for the main menu, L for the LFG group thing, /gm for a gm ticket etc

Well the crystal art pack is an addon that runs once then disables itself. Kagaro wrote it for me. You did right by adding it to the lua for crystal art park but you do not have to add it to kgpanels as well. thats what the art pack is for. It adds the art you add to it, into your kgpanels art library once you load it in game. Then once it is done it disables it self. The art is still contained in the artpack folder so if you ever update kgpanels you wont loose the art. I am interested to see what you used. I was thinking of doing the same thing. But i didnt want to copy cat the other aion ui thats out there right now hehe.

Well I wanted to stay as original as i could with this UI. Those party frames you see there are the party frames they used in the game aion

it should be changing. I thought I set it up to do that. You can left click on the macaroon minimap button (orange button near the minimap) then right click on the main bar and make sure the option is checked. Should be something like stance, or paged bar.

This is something I have meant to clean up i did forget this past update. Still in the process of cleaning this ui up as a whole. I really want to make everything perfect. Its just gonna take me some time. For the time being they shouldn't harm anyone if they don't have those mods. From my understanding the saved variables wont load or be used unless the mod is running.

Ah, that's why if I disabled it the problem would go away. I am not familiar with fluid frames so I didn't know it was SUPPOSED to move the time. No wonder it was stuck! LOL It's so odd that it was making Bartender go crazy, too. I disabled fluid frames, have Ricominimap installed with the option to hide the minimap border as well as the clock, and I use fortress/uclock instead. My server is Pacific and I live Central, so I like showing both my time/server time. If Simpleminimap breaks (I haven't been able to find anything newer than October 2008), if you are unfamiliar with it, RMM works well and is maintained. Is it safe to "lose" Portfolio and Fluid Frames if I don't have a clock or calendar button?

For whatever reason, I still cannot get my tga file to work. I wonder if it's because I made the targa file using PhotoShop on a Mac (I play WoW on a PC). Or if it matters if it's a 16, 24 or 32 bit per pixel file, or if it's because mine is RGB? I tried with and without RLE compression, so it wasn't that. I've never tried adding my own (ok, I "borrowed" it but it was edited by me!) art before and I'm new to KGpanels. I tossed together something quickly just for giggles, but basically I took a screenshot of the various web site pages for Aion, and cropped/edited a gold box, and filled it with a golden yellow. For now, using just a regular box with Blizz's Parchment 2 for fill and the Wood Achievement border doesn't look to bad. I may spend more time coming up with something but I am not very proficient in Photoshop. If I get something I like (and I can get it to load properly in KGpanels!), I'll get a screenshot and post it for you. I also want to find something to use as a background across the bottom to sort of "anchor" everything. Who knows, I may hate it once I try it, but I thought something in teal (smile) could be pretty. I will probably try cropping a section from the wallpaper here: http://bestgamewallpapers.com/files/aion/aion-blue.jpg

As for Macaroon, I nearly gave up, but I finally got things working. I still don't understand all of its features, but it's doing what it's supposed to do and I'm happy. It took a LOT of trial and error, though.

How funny that the party frames are from Aion. It's their vision I guess, but I personally found the mix of delicate actionbar/target art and coarser party art to lack harmony. Ah well, no one died and made me arbiter of good taste.

hi, i have mods set up already, but would absolutely love to use the artwork that you provide in this all-inclusive UI.
is there a way to just install the artwork for the frames and not include the extra mods that you do so i can use my mods that i already have?
ie. bartender instead of macaroon and xperl instead of stuf?
i've never changed artwork on WoW, so i'm assuming it takes more than just moving a folder to my addons folder and presto it's there.

I took some graphics from various pages on the Aion site and worked my poor Photoshop skills on them. The chat boxes work, the backgrounds don't load so I'm obviously doing something wrong with them.

There are three chatbox options, and the two non-working backgrounds in the zip file. I'm using chatbox2.tga, and once I changed the various chat colors to make them brighter and the font to Diablo, I love the way it looks. I'd be interested to see what you think.

I'm actually happy enough with the chatbox graphic (I use it for chat, carbonite mini-map and carbonite quest watcher), that I don't think I need a background across the bottom at this point, but I'd still love to know where I went wrong with the tga files.

Reflux doesn't seem to want to work. When I tried using it, it didn't change my UI at all, it just left it as a huge mess. X_X

if I try the command /reflux switch Crystal UI my WoW will crash (WoW-Error), but it seems the profile "Crystal UI" is already activated -but I can't see any artwork like the artwork is shown on your screenshots. sry 4 my bad english.
