LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

Hi, I'm having the same issue. It won't even load at all. Please tweak this wonderful addon to work with 8.0 BFA!!!

Visibility Bug?

Hi!

When I click on a Quest, it brings up LH automatically, which is fine! But when I shrink the map/close the quest information, LH does not go away. I have to actively close the window.

Is this a bug, or did I change a setting somewhere? How do I get it to go away when I close the map/quest window?

Thank you!

I usually have that happen when I've done a search, or hit the 'back' or other soft buttons inside of lightheaded. I find that briefly hovering over one of them - especially the back button - will flick the tooltip off. It's not an immediate thing, and you have to be careful to get the timing right, but it's also not a omg-difficult thing to learn to do. Having learned it once (after complaining of the same thing ages ago) I have no problem doing it now.

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply Barleduq. I find that the only way I can get the tooltip to go away is to reload WoW, which is a cumbersome pain in my arse.

So I am asking Cladhaire, from one addon author to another, to revise his code so that this doesn't happen anymore.

Cheers

I get some great help from lunarwtr and we've managed to get updates out for the major changes. I'll continue to do so as long as I'm able to reasonably do so.

Keep this up to date

I really hope this addon gets its support. I've been using Grail/Wholly and QuestCompletist but both are cumbersome and they don't even show the rep gains from quests.

As far as I can tell, this is the most lightweight and, more importantly, it shows rep gains for quests.

BfA is right around the corner, and I hope it stays up to date.

Re: Autodetails false still allows Lightheaded to open when a Quest is clicked

The problem is this OpenQuestID function which is called directly from multiple hooksecurefunc blocks between lines code at line 57 and 95 in Lightheaded.lua

Code:
function LightHeaded:OpenQuestID(qid)
	self.quest_clicked = true
	if not LightHeadedFrameSub:IsVisible() then
		self:LockUnlockFrame()
		LightHeadedFrame:Show()
	end
	self:SelectQuestLogEntry(qid)
end

No check against self.db.profile.autodetails is made in this function or in the hooksecurefunc blocks that call it. Resulting in the Lightheaded window auto showing itself when I'm checking out quest details even when I don't want it to.

I've personally resolved this for myself by rewriting OpenQuestID
Code:
function LightHeaded:OpenQuestID(qid)
	self.quest_clicked = true
	if self.db.profile.autodetails then
		if not LightHeadedFrameSub:IsVisible() then
			self:LockUnlockFrame()
			LightHeadedFrame:Show()
		end
	end
	self:SelectQuestLogEntry(qid)
end
I figure you may want to consider adding this in the future.
In my case your changes breaks the addon, will not load. I used search and replace to find text and replace with yours. Could you please verify this works. Thanks!

simple answer-last update was before Argus came out so basicly LH need new parse to include new quests.

@Cladhaire New update possiable?

Autodetails false still allows Lightheaded to open when a Quest is clicked

if I execute
