FlightMap  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.3
by: dhask [More]

FlightMap is all about the flights you take in the World of Warcraft. It draws lines on the continent maps, showing you visually where you can fly from each zone as you mouse over them, as well as showing a window listing all the available destinations, their costs and their flight durations. On the zone level map, flight masters appear as small boot icons, allowing you to see where they are. During flights, a castbar-alike progress bar will show you how long is left on your current journey.

Use /fmap or /flightmap to bring up the options window, or use the myAddons support.

Many thanks to Thorarin (aka Marcel Veldhuizen) who not only reported bugs, but also reported their fixes, and who supplied the Alliance default data. Thanks also to Simon, who has helped immensely with the German translations. And of course, thanks to everyone who downloaded betas, put up with bugs and helped me fix them!

IMPORTANT: There were major internal changes between v53 and v1.7-1. If you are upgrading from a release earlier than the v84 beta, please note that your flights will not be visible until you visit at least one flight master per continent, and may not be fully visible again until you have visited them all. Your time data is not lost, however. If you prefer, you can remove the old FlightMap entirely, run WoW without installing the new version once (make sure to log a character in!) and then install the new version. This will give you the default data sets, which are reasonably complete for both factions.

Changes:
2.1-1 May 28, 2007
* 2.1 version bump
2.4-1
* 2.4 version bump

* Compatible with 3.3

Yep. Now I know how long I can run to "the store" for while I am in flight. I like the AddOn and the information provided. Good Job!

Question...

How does this mod perform next to EnhancedFlightMap (EFM), especially in the area of flight time accuracy and EFM's addition of the flight master icons on the worldmap?

personally, I use both. In my observation both are as accurate as possible and the differences between the two are 1 to 2 secs only. I'm using Dhask's and EnhancedFlightMap coz of the features the other one don't have. I just turn off one of the timers.

I'm actually more worried about them both trying to put markers on my worldmap where the flight guys are.

You can turn off FlightMap's POI code via the options window, which is reachable either via "/fmap" or the myAddOns menu. Although, I haven't tested myAddOns since 2.2 was released, so.. you know, I'm not sure if you still can reach the options window that way.

Er, use "/fmap" for now.

Ever since myaddons started spamming me with errors about registration with mods, even when that mod WAS registered properly, I just deleted it and haven't gone back. Since there was no way for me to turn off the auto-register of non-supporting mods, and since most of the supporting mods didn't even use the options window feature even if they DID have a GUI...well...anyway... good to know I can use these two mods together.

Edit: I'm sorry to report, installed this along with EFM results in FlightMap not showing or doing anything at all, period. I've fiddled with options, taken a few flights to give it a chance to collect data, and I'm not noticing anything that wasn't there before.

Hmm, the only problem I can think of here might be if you have the Sea library installed. FlightMap uses Sea to hook Blizzard functions if it's available, while EFM does not. (The author flat out refuses to even consider supporting Sea). I'm not sure how this could cause FlightMap's stuff to stop working, though.

Do you know if FlightMap works if EFM is disabled, and vice versa? If it's a conflict between the two, I will try installing EFM to see if I can find the problem.

No longer supported here

I will no longer be supporting the AddOn at this site. You can get future updates from curse-gaming or worldofwar.net. This decision is a result of the annoyance factor involved in updating multiple sites after each release; the two sites chosen are the ones with the most active comments.

Perhaps give someone co-mod rights here, then, so they can upload your updates from the other sites? And add text to the top of your "description" to point people to the other sites if they want to make comments or bugreports.

I dunno about other people, but during patch-madness-days I never have a problem checking for or grabbing new downloads from here; c-g is usually down for days (and frequently at random times, too) and wow.n isn't much better - though YMMV.

I agrea, this site is a lifeline to the smart mod using community, curse is just that on patch days "cursed". it would be doom if you did not update on this site.

i agree, please consider dropping ui.worldofwar.net or curse-gaming for wowinterface, which is a budding mod community.

Do you want co-mod rights? If so, how do I give 'em?

I get the same error message, and I wanted to point out that it only happens on Kalimdor. Maybe because of the new flight paths added (Ratchet and Marshal's Refuge)?

Also, for some reason, FlightMap isn't logging the flight time from Ironforge to Light's Hope Chapel even though I've been there no less than 10 times since 1.11 to turn in invaders' scourgestones.
