Version: 5.7.138
by: Mikord, Resike

Announcements:

  • Version 5.7.134 is updated to work with Warlord of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 and fixes the font preview issues.
  • If you are having issues with the fonts "resetting" on initial game load, update to Version 5.7.137.
  • Version 5.7.138 corrects issues with several triggers like Kill Shot and Hammer of Wrath.

Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.

Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class (including CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS support).
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.
    • Create custom animation styles.
    • See the included API.html file for reference information.

I think you could add an event that shows when the enemy is poisoned. I believe there is by default an event that shows when the enemy dodges to perform an execute. Just make one similar for when enemy is affected by a poison. I'm at work now and don't know the code for this but it would involve the /msbt search etc... Watch the video if you haven't, it helps alot for making events.

Mutilate+MSBT

Hi there

First of all it is a really great addon with awesome fonts. BUT:
I cannot see my mutilate damage sometimes, my guess it is because MSBT. A mage posted a similar message that he cannot see firebolt too. It only happens when you use game damage and not outgoing scroll area. If you have some kind of solution please reply . If you would add a MUTILATE NOW message , when the enemy get poisoned that would be cool too. I almost forget that it would be really great as well, if there would be an option to sum up mutilate dmg for the game damage too. . For instance a 600 non crit and a 1400 crit would pop out as a 2000 crit I know that when I use outgoing scroll area it sums up the two hits, but I use the game font and dmg type and it separates the two dmgs. Unfortunately outgoing scroll area does not pop the crits out and its important for a rogue

Thanks

Ufo

Thanks for replying Mikord,

Just curious, is seperating the windfury hits impossible? or is it possible that you might include it in a future version?

If it is not possible through coding or what not, how about removing the text string that follows, telling you how many hits and how many crits. Just wanna make my combat scrolling text cleaner ^^

Anway, I love this mod and hope you will keep up the good work.

Thank you for the prompt responce.

I was mistaken, SCT doesnt show it above enemies as I had thought ( Not sure why I assumed that ).

I'll play around with settings to get what works for me. Was thinkin maybe to have both MSBT and WOW outgoing damage enabled since MSBT damage is on the side and much different text style/colors etc it wont look to doubled up as SCT did. Or as a possibly 2nd option, I may have MSBT show my weapon/spell damage only and not my reactive damage, so I can see that seperate from auras/spikes etc. Or make a few other scrolling areas for things.

Cant wait to try things out, so far one of my favorite mods, and I've yet to see what i can truely do with it.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that MSBT 4.1 development is under way.

One major change is that I plan to revamp the trigger system to both be more flexible and to accommodate for some of the new skills introduced that don't really work well within the current framework. I'm also looking to clean up some of the things that have been bothering me about the way I currently have them implemented, and to add in some more triggers by default that people have requested.

I'm not sure if it will make it into v4.1 or not, but I also have plans to implement some new spam control features to allow for a bit more control over how "spammy" abilities are handled.

I'll also fix the couple of damage events that aren't being shown.

Kwurc:

No you can't separate the hits. They are merged into one event with the total amount of damage done and a trailer containing how many hits/crits there were.

Iceroth:

Thanks for the heads up. I found the problem and will have it fixed in the next release.

Karsus:

The only way to get the damage above the enemy's head is by using WoW's built in display as you stated. MSBT does allow you to disable its display of outgoing events and enable WoW's as you stated. Of course, that also means MSBT can't control that display for different fonts per event, coloring, merging, throttling, etc.

Unfortunately, there is no mechanism for mods to get the location of a 3D object to display the damage above a mob's head as the built in display does it. While I haven't seen SCT/SCTD in a long, long time, I can say with almost absolute certainty that it doesn't show the damage coming off the enemy's head either, because it's just not possible. The only customization you can do to the built in damage display is to change the font all of the damage is displayed with. MSBT does not have that option mainly since by disabling MSBT's display of outgoing damage you lose all of the customization capabilities for outgoing damage events. However, I'm pretty sure there are other mods which specifically allow you to set a custom font for WoW's built-in display if that's what you want to accomplish.

As far as damage shields (thorns, ret aura, reflective shield, etc), then yes MSBT will show it, but it will be shown to the player who has the shield/aura because the game only reports the damage as coming from the person with the damage shield, not from the person who cast it. The same thing is true of healing shields like Earth Shield. The healing (and threat from it for that matter) are attributed to the person with the shield, not the caster.

Re: Missing damage texts

I really like the looks of this mod I've used SCT before and I just dont like the looks of it, or the ease of customization. Though I havnt had a great deal of time to play with it I was wondering a few things.

SCT as well as WOW has options to show damage numbers come off of the enemy itself, rather then just scrolling down the side as MSBT seems to do. Does MSBT have this option? to show damage coming from the MOB rather then in the scrolling side bars?

My other question is, being a Paladin who's going to be going protection spec, I wanted to see all my AOE damage and reflective damage, in the video it shows how AOE damage is displayed, which looks nice ( Though it would look nicer, for me, if it displayed as in my first question, over the MOBs head ) But does MSBT show reactive damage? From Retribution Aura, Shield Spikes, Holy Shield, Blessing of Sanctuary etc... ??

If not, I could do what I have done with SCT before, and just turn off the outgoing damage on MSBT and turn on outgoing damage in WOW itself.

If I need to create custom event triggers for these that wouldnt be a problem, just curious if i needed to expect to do these changes, or if its already in the mod by default.

Missing damage texts

There are some debuffs that deal damage that are not picked up by MSTB (the damage ticks that is):
- In Shadowmoon Valley, there's a quest that tells you to collect eggs from the bird people near Wildhammer Clan caste. Those eggs are rotten sometimes and cause a debuff that deals damage to player
- Rogue boss with 4 adds in Karazhan (forgive me, I don't remember the name) does Garrote debuff that deals ~1k dmg / tick to player.

Try this:

/msbt to bring up the MSBT Options GUI window.

On the General tab, you will see a checkbox and a slider for Throttle DoTs and HoTs.

Uncheck that - I think it is the toggle for merging. You can further play around with the merge threshold via that slider.

Hope this helps!

yea I tend to agree to this...
for me I use it as a simple way of noticing when the 5 sec rule kicks in...
I'll be waiting for this spammy power gain

Shzin:

If you look down a couple of posts there is an example of how to make the trigger for dazed mobs. The only difference would be to change the Concussive Barrage to the poison name.

Dulcea:

I'll look into that message. Screech doesn't show up because all "outgoing" debuffs are not displayed since Blizzard doesn't specify who actually applied it. Because of that, if outgoing debuffs were to be displayed then you would see when the mob gets debuffed by anything from anybody which would be quite spammy and probably not very useful.

Muji:

Only power gains that show up in the combat log will be displayed. I've really tried to cut down on how much info is spammed in MSBT and that's why it doesn't just dump out every time any power gain happens (imagine seeing ticks of natural mana/energy/rage regen, etc) and only those shown by the combat log. I will probably add an option to allow for a spammy power gain display in a future verison for those who want it though.

Jermlai:

See my previous response to Muji.

I love MSBT!
but there's 1 function which I miss from SCT...
I'm unable to see the amount of mana regen
I'm able to see the mana gain from Vampiric Touch ticks, or when I cannibalise or use a bandage.
Is it possible to toggle on the mana regen in-fight just like SCT?
