Shadowed Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v4.4.8
by: Shadowed, Nevcairiel

SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

Hi Shadowed.

You know what would be awesome? (yes, yes, I can hear you groaning, I know)

Some kind of like, "codeword" you can put into the Aura Filters that will show all debuffs of a specific type. Like a "Poisons" filter in the Whitelist would automatically show all poisons on the target, but not any magic effects (etc, etc, etc). Or, you could Blacklist all curses (which would be useful for Paladin cleansing duty). Ooh, the possibilities!

What's motivating this for me is that when playing Priest, I really need to know who has Weakened Soul on them. But every other non-curable debuff is just clutter. If I select "Show curable only" under the Units -> Auras area, I get everything I need, except it filters out Weakened Soul (naturally). If I could Whitelist "Diseases", "Magic", and "Weakened Soul"... why, I'd be all set!

Not trying to overwhelm you; I love SUF, and these filters are awesome. I've already done so much with them, and it cuts down on how many other addons are needed for the same effect. I tend to have lots of ideas for features that excite me. :]

---

On a really (really, really, REALLY) minor note, the add filter input area (under Manage Aura Filters -> Aura Name) "kicks out" your cursor every time you press Enter or the Okay button. This means a lot of re-clicking on the area when a user is adding many auras at once. Could you leave the keyboard input active after an aura is added, so you can type in multiple auras in quick succession?

I'm definitely not going to add filters that expansive, the only reason I added filters in the first place is I can directly check names and don't need to add extra checks like magic types, duration, wild cards, etc.

Killing the cursor is something Blizzard does by default I think, I'll see if there is a way of disabling it from killing the cursor or at least forcing the cursor back thought.

Seems like it was disabled, silly I didn't find that option before. Thanks for the help man.

I've encountered a weird bug using the raid frames.

On my warrior I have SUF set up to never show party, and instead show the raidframe, and when in a party doing quests involving vehicles (Argent Tournament dailies) the raidframes get... very screwed up when mounting the horses. Starts showing people as offline, and duplicates players. Just now I had 3 people in the party, and on the raidframes it only showed one person twice, both offline, and the 3rd member wasn't shown at all.

Hopefully I'm making sense, had a long night at work.

Edit: Found another vehicle related bug, this time with party frames.

Had two people mounted on Argent "vehicles" logged off but remained in party, so they're shown as vehicles in the party list still, but I'm unable to right click their frames to remove them from party so I'm stuck with them.

waha: Not sure if I can duplicate that but I'll try, menus not working while the owner is in a vehicle is fixed next push.

copystring: Sure, I added a table for it I just don't want to expose the option right now. All you'd need to do is make a module that sets the backgroundColor key for the bar, for example: /script ShadowUF.db.profile.units.player.healthBar.backgroundColor = {r = 1, g = 0, b = 0} will give you a red background for the players health bar only.

You modify the Config.barTable table (around #1706 in options/config.lua) to inject your configuration and you'd need to provide a set/get for changing the color.

phero: Clarified the description next push.

Wasn't able to duplicate your issue with multiple people showing up waha, can you try the latest version (once it's approved) and if it happens again screenshot it?

I just tried repeating everything I've done previously to break the raid frames, and no luck.

Thanks!

That's odd, nothing I did should have fixed duplicate entries in the raid frames. Not that I'm complaining.

Hi Shadowed,

I've had a go on the background colors but I seem to fail on implementing the color selector. I actually just wanted to check if I can make the color selector appear in the configuration in the first place and then add the variables into it. This is what I've done so far and the color selector doesn't appear in the configuration: http://paste.wowace.com/907/
I've taken a look at Shadowed UF Class Power and the stripped down the code to my needs.

Any idea why this doesn't work?

Events UNIT_LEVEL and PARTY_MEMBERS_CHANGED are missing in the Tags.defaultEvents table for the [levelcolor] tag.

Hello,

Is there a macro or something that can quickly enable and disable a set of frames? I only need to see raid frames while in a raid, not in a 40 man AV.

Thanks!

Another raid frame bug:

The AFK text isn't cleared from raid members who go afk but then return. On the target/etc frames the text is removed, but on the raidframes the (AFK) remains.

I'd start by marking the Raid unit as "Not visible" under "Battlegrounds" in the Visibility options.
