ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1871 - updated object code to handle any new INVTYPE values better

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

I wonder if you couldn't set it up so that as a free ammo slot becomes available it takes extra ammo from the normal bags and moves it? Or maybe that's something for another mod altogether.

I think the biggest draw back to this mod is that it doesnt hook the regular bags. It really needs to just replace the regular bags. And the bank needs to be in a second window.
yeah i know, the next version has three separate windows and i use keybindings instead so you can map F12 to this instead of the standard bag. i'm currently using F9 for bag, F10 for bank and F11 for keyring, leaving F12 for the normal bakpack so i can still test some stuff out.

theres a beta of 1.26 on the wowace.com svn (http://svn.wowace.com/wowace/tags/ArkInventory/ ) if you know how to use that

No, not everyone wants their regular bags replaced as EngBag (or whatever) does.

Some prefer to use ArkInventory simply as an offline inventory database. So if you do add such hooking, Ark, please make it an option that can be switched off (& on).

de translation

When i start WoW i got this Error on the german Client:
my fault, i renamed some of the translations to make them a bit more obvious, in this case - SOUL to SOULSHARD

you can download the corrected version from here http://svn.wowace.com/wowace/trunk/ArkInventory/Locale/ just save the deDE.lua file over the top of the current one

Bags of Other chracters

Sorry if this has been answered before......

I can see the Banks of my Offline alts but for some reason even though I have the "Bags & Keyrings" option checked it is not caching the data. Is this a known problem or am I doing something wrong?

i love how this mod is coming along. excellent work!

one last request: when i stop at a merchant, it still opens up my backpack in addition to the AI frame. same with the bank, opens the default UI bank frame in addition to the AI bank frame. can you please add an option to hide those from opening?

Firstly, great bag mod. Nice work.

As a few others have said, the only addition I would like is the ability to completely replace the standard bags.

Having the standard bag open seems to defeat the purpose of getting a bag mod in the first place.

i dont think it's you. try closing all the ai windows and erase the cache? i think this may have been a bug that i've fixed in 1.27

i'll be adding this in 1.27 if i can figure out how to do it, it'll be optional and turned off by default

Having the standard bag open seems to defeat the purpose of getting a bag mod in the first place.
not really, i've not touched them because i didn't want players getting stuck if this mod went stupid, having to logout, disable mod, login just to get at your bags can be annoying, especially if it did it in the middle of a raid battle

Working Great Now Thanks! I'de like to request a feature (don't know how much trouble this would be).....It would be nice to be able to reorder the Boxes once they are created. This would be so that if I make a new catagory (Lets say I decide I want all my blacksmithing stuff to be in its own box) I could move that window down (say if it was #17 and I want it to go between 3 & 4) without having to change ALL the windows in between. Does that make sence?

you want an "insert empty bar here" action that would move all the categories on the current bar and above up one bar leaving the current bar empty? if so then that shouldn't be too hard to do.

Bug in 1.27

Getting the following pop-up error in 1.27:

Interface\Addons\ArkInventory\ArkInventory.lua:1388:AceLocale (ARKINV):Translation "CATEGORY_PROFESSION_FIRST_AID" does not exist

I've already cleared the cache, but the pop-up error remains.

This mod doesn't seem to work for me. I installed 1.27, opened my bank, and set up a bar using edit mode to hold Recipes. The recipe in my bank stayed in the default bar. Then I tried setting up a "Skinning" bar, and a "Tailoring" bar. My skins and cloth stayed in the default bar. So I set up a "Potions" bar. My health potions stayed in the default bar. The only thing I was able to actually get to show up in a different bar was my Hearthstone, which moved into the "Soulbound" bar I set up. What gives?
