LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

May be an issue or not

First, let me say thank you for the mod. I love it as do the many I've passed the mod to for use. Keep up the good work.

Yes, I use Cartographer with your mod and before 2.4 without issue. However, since 2.4, there are no waypoint arrows. Perhpas I'm missing something in the configuration but was curious if you had a suggestion for this. I can get the arrow if I click on coordinates or do so within Cartographer for setting a waypoint. What I no longer have is any symbols for quests or the waypoints.

Thanks again.

I really wish people would read. It was either you get a 2.4 version with updated comments and everythign, or you stay with the previous LoD version before. You still have both of those options. As soon as I have an opportunity, you'll be able to have both.

Hi
Further to my earlier post (which was incorrect), I have noticed the following whilst using vR219 which is:

Quest ID 1960
when clicked on name <Anastasia Hartwell> the cooords of [82.8, 12.9] sets waypoint in Trisfal when it should be Undercity (actual coords in Undercity are [85.2, 10.3]).
Secondly, after handing in the quest the log updates inself but Lighthead still retains the information upon opening until you click on any other quest in your log.
Would this be a symptom of the 2.4 update? If so I look forward to using vR220.

Brill programme, enjoy using it!
Thank you for the details. I believe there is an issue with the way I'm storing and using NPC coordinates that I hope to fix. The second error, I don't fully understand what you're saying. No it is not a known problem.

Thank you for the great addon. I honestly don't know what I'd do without it.
Yes. First off, 14 megs, while large, will only cause people playing WoW on VERY EXTREMELY LIGHT machines issues. Anyone else is just scared of the number. Second, it will be converted back to LoD as soon as I have an opportunity to breathe and test.

I guess this is a Cartographer issue, but I though you'd want to know. I have no problem using your addon as long as I don't use Cartographer.

Ever since 2.4 I've been having problems with cartographer. Before, when I clicked on coordinates, I would get three results:
-A pin in the world map
-A pin in the minimap
-An arrow pointing at that place

Since 2.4 this is what happens on some coordinates:
-NO pin in the world map
-A pin in the minimap
-TWO arrows! pointing at that place. One arrow is better looking and always red, and the other one changes colour depending on if I am looking in the right direction.
What did you expect? You are running two addons that provide waypoints arrows. Frankly, I'm also annoyed that you think the cart arrow "looks" better.

If I zoom out the world map (e.g. I see the whole Eastern Kingdom) I can see all the tips, but if I zoom in (e.g. I see Stranglethorn Vale) I can see only one, or none.

If I disable the "Enable floating waypoint arrow" in Tomtom I can only see the red arrow.

If I disable Tomtom I stop getting any arrow, and nothing happens when I click on coordinates.

The only addons I am using are Lightheaded, Tomtom and Cartographer. I disabled all other addons and I even deleted the WTF folder.

I posted this here 'cause maybe you can sort the incompatibility. My Cartographer seems to be working fine with Gatherer and other addons.

Thank you for this superb addon (if I have to choose, if Gatherer works fine, I'll quit Cartographer and go on with yours).

Calabacín [/b]
I really am not understanding your problem. Cartographer was updated quite a bit ago to work properly with TomTom/LightHeaded. If you're using Cartographer (lord knows why you woudl be) then you don't need TomTom. Using them together is just plain silly.

BEQL needs to update.

Clad mentioned a page or two back that he removed the LoD so he could get a 2.4-ready release out the door. He'll be adding the LoD back in later on.

Unfortunately you are the only one who can tell me if there is a mod conflict. You can do this as always, by disabling everything except LH and making sure it works correctly. Then enable the addons you suspect until the problem re-surfaces.

When doing so, you should ensure the version of LightHeaded you show in-game should match the latest version posted on this website.

Wonderful mod. =]. I use this with TomTom and QuestHelper! I love that you use Wowhead comments instead of Thottbot or other sites. Wowhead is my favorite. =]. I usually use this when I cannot alt tab, and have to read information quickly.

Amazing mod!

Exclamation possible compatibility issue?

Ok I have no idea if I did something wrong or if possibly one of my other addons is affecting LH - but my new LH is blank... totally blank and the pages do not line up at all.
I am currently using BEQL as well, so there may be an issue with these two working together.

Here's some screenshots of what i'm looking at-
When i first open my questlog:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e2...sue_openql.jpg

When I minimized BEQL, move LH and try to make it match up:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e2...ue_beqlmin.jpg

Incidentally when I tried to close/open the LH slider - i got this error:

For now, you can just turn off QuestFu's quest comment module and have it go to the normal bliz one to avoid getting errors (Fatality!).
Just change the API calls from title, level to LightHeaded:GetCurrentQID(). I.e.

LightHeaded:GetComment(title, level, page) to LightHeaded:GetComment(LightHeaded:GetCurrentQID(), page)
