Power Auras Classic v4 - MoP Version  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 4.23.29
by: Resike, Zensunim

Designed to give visual or audible cues to the user in response to in-game events, such as gaining buffs or debuffs. Types of cues range from simple texture displays to stack counters, timers to timer bars, and are fully user-configurable. Can be animated or have sounds attached as well.

You can find the original addon here:

If you upgraded to Power Auras 5, it is recommended that you remove it and restore your old WTF folder configuration files for PowerAuras if possible. If you did not upgrade to Power Auras 5, everything should work as normal.

The GTFO Addon will work with both Power Auras 4 and Power Auras 5 and no update is necessary.

From now the addon can be found on Curse too:

Slash commands
  • "/pa" - Brings up the configuration menu.
  • "/powa" - Brings up the configuration menu.

What changed so far
  • The addon is fully updated for Mists of Pandaria, ids, spells, classes, power and instance types, api changes, etc.
  • Also the addon is going to properly work in older game clients too.
  • The addon's whole GUI menu got tweaked up, bugged parts are fixed.
  • Added new fonts, texture, sounds.
  • Fixed a lot of glitchy textures.
  • Recoded all texture to RLE loseless targa, which uses less memory. (When the addon show a texture, then the texture is going to stay compressed in the memory, the video card is going to decompress it, and it's going to stay uncompressed in the video card's cache.)
  • Added dropdowns to change the textures blend mode. (This function also replaces the removed "Glow" buttons functionality when set to "ADD".)
  • Added dropdowns to change the frame's and the texture's strata levels. (1 single texture can be placed on 8*20*4*15 = 9600 different strata levels.)
  • Added an option to use gradient colors for the texture, this function also works with the random color function properly.
  • Added an option to grayscale textures.
  • Added an option to display icons with rounded edges.
  • Added a function to rotate textures.
  • Every slider has an editbox now.
  • Every slider's value can be changed with mousewheel up/down, while the mouse is over a slider or it's editbox. (This function replaces the removed "-" and "+" buttons functionality.)
  • Cluthcy and bugged animations got fixed, their other parts got tweaked.
  • Added an option to show predefined, custom and custom unitid (player, target, focus, etc) type 3D Models from the game. This models can be animated, rotated, zoomed in/out, or moved inside of their frame, within all the other functions what textures has.
  • Sounds will be played when you test or hide and aura, if sound is assigned for that aura.
  • Millions of other smaller fixes and changes, see Change Log or "!Changelog.txt" for details.

you can do?

nice addon, really compliments ..... I was wondering if you could add an option to change the font to the timer, and make it compatible with "Masque" so I could also change the icons, it would be really wonderful, there are many really Skins beautiful. This implementation would be very pleasing to all users ....

Hello and good work .....

Performance comparison

I made some CPU and Memory usage comparison between 4.23.29 and 4.23.30 Alpha 4 version of the addon. Here are the results:

0 Auras:

4.23.29

4.23.30

24 Auras, 0 Triggered:

4.23.29

4.23.30

24 Aruas, 24 Triggered:

4.23.29

4.23.30

For hidden auras the addon use 85% less CPU time.

For shown auras the addon use 64% less CPU time.

However, until a few days ago I hadn't updated since 4.23.12. Wow Resike, SO many bug fixes and improvements! Thanks a lot for taking over this mod and maintaining/improving it. Once I saw the "Glow = Blend Mode: Add" tip and fixed all of my auras that had sounds, I've been rocking along for the most part.

2. I just started playing my Paladin again, so I've been trying to update my auras. Maybe you can tell me if I'm missing something and there's an easier way to do this? -- I have hotkeyed macros for quickly switching to any of the four Paladin Seals, and four auras that trigger accordingly depending upon which Seal is active. But if you fat-finger some keys and accidentally re-cast a Seal that's already up, it will cancel the Seal leaving you without one at all. Back when Seals were simply Buffs, I had an Inverted aura set up that just listed all of the Seals separated by slashes. If I saw that effect, I knew I didn't have any Seal up and I'd simply re-cast one.

But now with the way Seals are selected via drop-down, one at a time only, I had to make five more auras to do this same thing. I made a 2nd, Inverted aura for each of the four Seals, and then made a 5th one that triggers when the other four Aura IDs all evaluate as true. That works, but is there no way to select multiple Seals (or Stances for that matter) in one aura so the entire thing can just be Inverted? Is there no way to Invert the logic of the combined Aura ID line itself, so the main aura triggers if the other Aura IDs evaluate as FALSE?

(I recalled that using a "!" before a buff in a macro would stop you from recasting that buff if it's already active. So fat-fingering Seals might be a moot point. But I think there are a few other ways that a Seal can be inadvertently or unwillingly removed, and I can think of some other non-Seal/Stance situations where this issue might come up and evaluating combined Aura IDs as false could be handy.)
Thanks for your feedback, i'm planning to update the addon as long as i can, i still have many more ideas and improvements in mind, just some of them are not so easy to implement.

You can find the addon on curse too from now, i know a lot of ppl use the curse client, and it's also easier and faster then manual installs and you won't miss the updates:

http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/power-auras-classic-v4

About the paladin seals, i aware that you can cancel seals as a paladin (Not sure whats the point of this tho.), just like druids but druids has their human form in their [stance:0] slot.

There is a seal/stance/shapeshift form called "Humanoid". A lot of ppl don't know about it, this is getting triggered when you don't have any seal/stance/shapeshift form activated, aka you are in human form. (The name came from druids.)

So if you select "Humanoid" from the seal dropdown, it's gonna indicate that you are in the [stance:0] this means you don't have any seal/stance/shapeshift form up. I think you can save some aura slots if you use this trigger.

I could also make the stance dropdown to have multiple selections, to accept more seals/stances/forms in one aura.

Some are applicable to old content I don't plan on doing anyway, but some of the ones I'm deleting are ones I'd prefer to keep. Some I need because I still run into whatever situation I made them for, and some I want to keep because - even though I might have them turned off - I want to easily and quickly reference them later because I figured out how to track or show something nifty with them and I don't want to reinvent the wheel later.

So, would it be possible to add another couple of pages of character auras? I've added some auras for my main to the Global Effects pages, but sometimes I have an aura that triggers from the same base condition(s) but I want the specific conditions or resulting graphic to be different on my different characters. As it is now, I have to toggle a few similar auras on/off when I switch characters. --- I have this same issue with WoW macro slots. All of my main's character slots are used plus half of the common slots - just for one character. Mods have helped me alleviate the macro issue a bit, but I don't get the logic used in the design phase of a feature or mod that assumes a person will use far more common slots than character-specific ones. I find the exact opposite to be true.

4. Is there a way I can directly access/extract the new Wow textures outside of the game that I see have been added to the mod since the last time I updated (4.23.12)? I think they are numbers 55-176? Because unless I'm missing something with all of the new Strata, Blend Mode and Level/Sublevel options, the majority of those textures are not completely opaque even with the Opacity slider set to 100%. I prefer to start at 100% Opacity and work my way down from there if I deem I need to see through a texture and/or that it's still clearly visible based on its size, color and position, etc. I'd just screen capture them, but no matter where I turn I can see background objects through them which would make my editing work harder. A great example of this is WoW texture 114 which depicts the Paladin Judgment spell. At 100% it's still way too see-through. I'd love a raw version of that or at least one that was captured against a plain white or black background. I could then re-do the alpha mask myself. (I've created or modified 50+ textures in Photoshop that I use in the mod. I'm not an expert by any means, but I manage well enough.)
For the aura slots question, i could increase both the character and global slots, but the problem is then it would break savedvariables for other users who had auras in thoose pages. I could switch the the numbers for character and global pages, to have 10 char specific page and only 5 global, but that could make the same problems as above.
The only thing what could i do to increase the global pages, that doesn't make any problems. I need further investigation and testing for all of the methods tho.

About the textures, I can upload the files for you:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/hwhc4kv9u1gydkb/Interface.zip

However if you like to play with textures you can extract every avaliable textures from wow, see the method here:

Question Thanks, and multiple Pally Seal/logic question

Success

I figured out the problem - I hadn't set it to track enemies so it was tracking on myself.

Derp.

Thank you so much for all your help!

At the moment I have no problems at all with the 5 version, but if it's an abandoned project, I would prefer to get back to the 4 version in order to be ready for future game changes.

Thank you for your excellent work.
The future plan is to run a v4 and a v5 version of the addon as a different projects.
I'll be take care of the v4 version and it's always gonna be updated for the latest patch. And if i have more time then gonna bugfix and add new features.

Ther v5 version of the addon is currently only coded my Meorawr, and he had to put the project on hold because he has no time to work on it right now, but it's not completely abandoned. I also might join for the v5 project later, or just to help in some functions, but still even with me we're only 2 people. And there are thousands of lines to code.

If you want to go from the v5 version to v4 just make a backup from your v5 settings since it's going to overwrite it, and you can't have both addons enabled at the same time. This applies to when you go from the v4 version to the v5 one too.

Thanks!
On the timer tab you have set the "Invert Aura when timer below" to 0?

Because if you invert an inverted aura, than it's going to become not inverted.

I checked the invert option (I was just blind,) however, once the aura goes on it never goes away. Also I tried using the invert timer for the deadly poison and all it does is make it flash at random times.
You need to create a different aura, with the same settings and only change the end time of the poison. To me it works now, if you want I send you the screen of the settings to make you understand better .. even if it would be useful also other options, type, time expires, under the icon, with the choice to change font. Tonight I am sending you here at the forum of the screen, now and later I have to go to work.

And TX RESIKE for help me Always ......

ciao da Roma

Currently nope, but it can be added.
