Its' Polyquip

Version: 2.1-0
by: Itsnoteasy [More]

This addon was inspired by a "Best sheep macros" thread on the WoW forums. It sits in the background, watching and waiting. When it sees you cast Polymorph (of any variety), it will choose a random quip based on the kind of Polymorph you're using.

It does not require any configuration, but there is a slash command you can use to change some of the internal settings if you so desire. For full details, you should type the following whilst in-game:

/polyquip
However, for those disinclined to read documentation (or who are just plain lazy), here's a few handy commands:

/polyquip chance 30
Sets the chance of quipping to 30%. The default is 100%, so you might want to change that.
/polyquip silence 15
Tells Polyquip to be silent for 15 seconds after making a quip.
/polyquip when solo enable
/polyquip when inparty enable
/polyquip when inraid disable
/polyquip when inbg enable
Allows you to override the overall enabled/disabled mechanism under certain circumstances. The above context commands are the defaults.

The practical upshot of this is that you don't annoy the crap out of your guildies during raids
You can also add your own custom quips: instructions are included in the My Quips-custom.lua file. If you do come up with some witty new quips, post them here so others can bask in your comic genius!

Yay! My favorite flavor addon is getting an update!

Here are some quips, I don't remember which are defaults and which I added... So If I repeat a default quip, don't fleece me!

1. The more I learn about women the more I like my sheep.
2. Brains by Blizzard, Body by (caster).
3. Break this (Poly) and I start biting kneecaps. (Gnomes rule!)
4. Everyone is someone else's weirdo. %t's wierdo just happens to be me.
5. When in doubt, Let the Wookie win.
6. HUT! Two, Three, Four! What the World you Poly'd for? CC!
7. Little Bo Peep, lost her sheep. I just make my own.
8. I've made a pig. Who brought the grits and eggs?
9. %t's a pig. I blame: (I've a load of these) Global Warming, Karma, Global Cooling, the Loch Ness Monster, the GM's, dumb luck, McDonalds, etc, etc.
10. I smell bacon, I smell Pork. Look out %t I've got a fork!

Now Get with the uploading!

Polyquip doesn't allow for saying all quips over emote. It wouldn't make much sense: "Beep, beep, <target>'s a sheep!" would become "MetaTr0n Beep Beep, <target>'s a sheep!"

On an unrelated note, I've got an updated version sorta working with the current PTR of 2.4, so hopefully that'll be ready to go by the time it goes live.

When I type /polyequip, I do not get a list of commands. I saw in the file you have quips for teleports, but they are not working.

If this is disabled by default, what command turns them on?

While I wouldn't use it, due to annoyance factor, there are some legitimate uses for this, specifically letting people know that you're sheeping something.

Some ideas:

1) <target> is feeling a bit sheepish

2) <target> has been a baa-d boy

3) I've pulled the wool over <target>'s eyes

4) Oh, go flock off <target>

5) I warned you, but you wool-dent listen

Ah, well then... My mistake. I guess it was my subconscious that kept typing witty messages every time I ported. I do so love to use them. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused.

Got an update on this: with release 2.1-0, I've added the ability for people to create their own separate quip file. The instructions for doing so are in the My Quips-custom.lua file. If you have any more problems, let me know.

Also, if you do come up with some good ones, why not share them?

You can edit the Quips-enUS.lua file; it shouldn't be too tricky. Originally, I wanted to have a special Quips-custom.lua file you could add that would integrate itself (and thus you wouldn't lose your quips if you updated), but I wasn't sure how to do this. The problem is that I'm using AceLocale for the quips and I don't know if it would play nice with additions.

I'll give it a shot, in any case. Just for you.

Its - I have Polyquip disabled when soloing, but it's still spitting out messages when I teleport (not in a group). Not that I really mind reading them all (I even added some of my own), but I don't believe I need to announce to IF when I'm teleporting to Shatt... I've also included this mod in my Seerah's Suitcase UI (cause I love it ), so I'm also thinking about users of my UI who would like to disable it when soloing.

Just a note- polyquips ARE being quiet when soloing, but portalquips are not.
LOL WHAT PORTAL QUIPS MY MOD DOESNT DO THAT ROFL

Ahem.

Let's say, hypothetically speaking that Polyquip did teleports and portals, I'd be inclined to do it so that portals (which you only really use in groups) have the same system as polymorph quips, but since self-teleports aren't used all that much, they can just always be enabled.

Let's also hypothetically suppose that someone made an excellent point about this being overkill for them; I suppose that, theoretically speaking, I would be inclined to do an update to solve this.

While we're at it, we could also assume that I meant for such functionality to be hidden and disabled by default but then promptly forgot about it.

But since Polyquip is clearly only for Polymorph quips, I don't see what I could possibly do to help...

The first rule of portal-quipping is that you don't talk about portal-quipping. It doesn't exist.

Ah, you see, it's all in the wrist. Watch the Burning Crusade intro again—when you get to the bit with the mage, watch his wrist very carefully; you'll notice that he does a little twist on his wrists right at the end. That's what you need to be trying.

Failing that, print out a picture of a real sheep, cut it out, and sticky-tape it to your screen in the appropriate place. Being able to make "Baaa!" noises also helps with the realism.
