Chinchilla Minimap  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v2.13.0
by: ckknight, Ravendwyr

Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.

Appearance

Allows changing of blip size (useful since 3.1), border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
Auto zoom
Zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).
Compass
A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
Coordinates
Show your location coordinates
Expander
Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
Location
Show the name of your location more flexibly.
Move buttons
Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
Ping
Show which team-mate pinged the minimap
Position
Position the minimap and frames around it.
Range circle
Show on the minimap where your range extends to
Show / Hide
Show or hide various frames related to the minimap
Tracking dots
Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colorblindness.
Wheel zoom
Mousewheel to zoom the minimap

I had the same Watchframe error and was able to get it to go away by turning the questtracker frame back on in Chinchilla.

Long time user and enormous fan of Chinchilla here

The one feature I just plain can't live without is Expander -one of those things you never think about, but once you have it you just can't take not having it.

Anyway, I'm not sure how difficult it would be - but would it be possible to set a custom opacity while expanded? Like normally have the minimap at 100% opacity, but when holding down the expander button drop it to 80% opacity or so?

Excellent work with the mod!

Any chance of adding multiple tracking support (user selectable icons)? This way we could tell herbs apart from fish and ore etc.

Not sure how hunter support would work out with so many things to track at once. The mini map could become quite cluttered. Presumably, one would, at some point, simply be tracking too many things to be practical on a mini map, especially when zoomed out. But then that would be up to the individual user most likely. I generally like to track fish, beasts and humanoids when out in the wild. Unique icon shapes would go a long way toward making things more informative.

Only just noticed this but since the patch some buttons still have borders even when the option is set to 0% opacity. Specifically this included the mail and lfg buttons.

EDIT: Did some more testing.

I went back through the newest releases to some 3.3.5 versions. None of them were able to hide the borders. Deleted my saved variables and again, no luck. I enabled more buttons and found the zooms, tracking and calendar buttons had visible borders. Only the BG/Arena button is affected, apparently.

If blizzard is preventing this or you're just removing the option from Chinchilla I'll have to accept it or try fixing it with a blank .blp file if I can remember how that works.

been having a weird issue with Chinchilla. The Blizzard questing arrow wont update its position unless you open the world map. Not sure why this is happening but thought I would pass it along.

The issue I have with Chinchilla is that it seems to have some issues with Blizzard's Quest Tracker. The addon keeps reducing the tracker down to just a few lines everytime you reloadui or log-in. I disabled the quest tracker management from the chinchilla option but that doesn't seem to fix it.

I can fix this by re-enalbe and then disable the quest tracker option in Chinchilla, but it happens again if you relog/reloadui/whatever. It's kinda annoying.

Hi

Just grabbed this addon yesterday, I really like it. One thing though, I noticed when I logged back in after downloading it, that my minimap buttons, which were all smashed together and overlapping each other. I use Minimap button frame, and I would like to be able to continue using that along w/ chinchilla, as I really like it. Is there a way to resolve the issue between the 2 addons? I have removed and re downloaded both and the issue is still there. I disabled chinchilla, and the issue is gone. So I am sure its chinchilla, conflicting somehow, w/ MBF.

Came to post about the same thing. I see the bug is already in the bug tracker and that the latest alpha in the wowace repository has options to fix it.

Hi, Are you by any chance using the Mod MoveAnything, I know that in the past when I've moved something using it, it would make windows stick when I tried to move them with another addon. If you are try typing /move and opening the control panel, then resetting the minimap.

Anyway it's just a guess and I hope this helps.

Is it possible to include a new icon for the blizzard Focus and Target icons? It seems like the default icons are a little obnoxious; I'm looking for a way to strip them down, yet keep them distinguishable from other markers.

I'm sorry to announce that I have actually quit WoW. My life is a complete mess right now and I no longer have the money nor the motivation to continue playing. In fact, I haven't played at all since June.

I am sorry guys.

Change location font

I love this addon, but I'd like to change the font for the location text and I have absolutely no clue how to do it, or if it's even possible.

Could you guys please help me?
