Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.1.1
by: Phanx [More]

Grid has been continued as Plexus by Doadin. Use that instead; Grid has not been updated since 2018 and will not be updated in the future.

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.
The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

There is already a plugin to do that.

You can find a list of Grid plugins here:

Hello,

I'd like the "Health Deficit" and "Health Bar" to be colored based on the unit's health.

Is this possible? This is one of the most important indications.

Thank you.

There isn't. I'm actually not sure why you'd want that. It would make buffing, resurrecting, etc. more difficult, and there's not really that much time where you're in a raid and out of combat for more than a minute or two.

Nope. Grid contains no code whatsoever that does anything to any default UI elements.

For me, when I have PitBull and Grid installed and tell PitBull to hide the player and target Blizzard frames every time I zone in/out of an instance they appear.

When I disabled Grid, this problem stopped. Is Grid by chance telling the UI to specifically turn them on?

Question Question

Hi,
I just started using Grid. Is there a way in Grid to disable the standard blizzard unit frames when I am in a 5-man group?

Thanks,
Twidget

Re: Hiding playerframe while in a group/raid

Not really. The simplest solution would probably be to grab the GridStatusSelf plugin; its intended purpose is to highlight your own frame, but if you set the color alpha to 0 and then assign it to the Frame Alpha indicator, it should effectively hide your frame, though it will leave a hole in your Grid layout.

Hiding playerframe while in a group/raid

Heya

Was curious if it's possible to hide your own playerframe while in a group or raid when using grid?

I've been looking through the config but can't seem to find an option for it.

Appreciate any help I can get!

Regards

Do you use Clique or another click-casting addon? If so, make sure you didn't accidentally bind left-click to your profession.

Otherwise, that sounds like a perfect example of random problems caused by a corrupted game cache; exit WoW and delete everything inside the [ World of Warcraft \ Cache \ WDB ] folder.

If neither of the above help, run through the troubleshooting steps outlined here:
http://phanx.net/addons/addonhelp.html
... and report back with the results.

Not directly, no. You could modify Grid's code to add an always-on border, or you could fake it with an always-on status. If you set the Low Health Alert status threshold to 100%, it will always be active. Put it on the Frame Border indicator, set its color to dark gray, and set its priority to 1 (so that "real" statuses assigned to the border still show up normally).
