LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

So, even though the error shows up in Lightheaded code and Lightheaded crashes, you are saying this is a questfu error?
That's exactly what I'm saying. It hasn't changed to use the new API to take advantage of quest ids.

This is not an issue with LightHeaded, but with an addon that hasn't been updated to use quest ids instead of name/level pairs. Your stack trace should tell you which addon this is, and it needs to be updated.

As far as lightheaded goes, worked great.

As far as mapster goes. its fast, and doesnt seem to bog down my system. Config is simple and easy next to Cart. However, mapster does NOT seem to support the one thing I enjoy about Cart. The ability to make not only the map window borders transparent, but also the areas of the map that are not playable (ie: oceans, mt ranges you cant walk on, etc) leaving just the actual playble land space visible.

If Mapster supported this, Id switch. Its just too nice of a feature. I hate having a huge square box blocking my view when i want to view the map

Each contains one one fifth of the comments in the entire game. They are evenly distributed so the same number of comments appear in each data file (give or take a few that help align along quest id lines).

In short, no you can't really remove any of them and retain your functionality. You could remove any of them (A contains all of the lower numbered quest ids) but the pages would be blank if you encounter any of those quests.

The Alliance/Horde thing was too difficult to manage, ended up having way to many files and was extremely confusing. As always, LightHeaded will only load as much data as it needs to get the information about the quest you are viewing. This is roughly 2 MiB per data addon.

For some odd reason, when I click a quest in the quest log it doesn't change the quest displayed in lightheaded. It seems to be stuck displaying only one of my quests.

Error after clicking badly typed coords

Clicking coords such as [76,45] works fine.

However, ive found that if I click on coords that look like the following:

[76,45.]
[76.4,45.1]
[76.4,45]

then every coord i click after, that, gives an error.

There's absolutely no reason to use the latest version. Just use the one before he made it buggy and eat up memory.

Is there any way that the comments will be sorted by user ratings?

The default sorting for the comments on wowhead.com is by user ratings.

Is there anyway to keep that sorting order in this addon?

1. Stop trolling
2. There is plenty of reason to use this version, such as the over 2,000 quests that didn't have comments before that now do.
3. it doesn't eat up memory, now you're just making shit up. Also, if you'd pay attention I've released the version that is Load On Demand and works just fine.

Seriously, what the hell is your problem?

I'll respond to the rest of the real issue reports in due course.

As posted in the comments and changelog, this is no longer the case. It was done as a temporary measure to help me get the 2.4 version out of the door. Feel free to download the newest version and enjoy the little-to-no memory usage when dormant.

I suspect you're either getting an error that isn't being displayed, or you're using a quest log replacement or both. Enable Lua errors by opening the interface options screen off the main menu. Then click "Help" and click "Display Lua Errors". Now, if you get an error it will be displayed on your screen. Report back that error. Also, you may have something that is conflicting with the quest log or calling LightHeaded incorrectly. Verify LightHeaded is installed correctly by disabling all your addons except the LightHeaded ones, and verify it works correctly.

Can you post the error for me? I'll do what I can to get it fixed, since this wasn't a problem before.

Yeah, I plan to change the sort order in the next comment parse, which should be out this week. Yell at me if I release and don't do that (it'll be in the changelog if/when I do)

As stated in the addon's description, the size change is done by an addon called DoubleWide that can be found here at WowInterface.com. I suggest you download and install it:
