ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1871 - updated object code to handle any new INVTYPE values better

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

Right Click on one of the items in question .... lets say Recipe: Elixer of Greater Firepower .... if you right click on it in edit mode you will see by defaul it is set to Alchamy and not Recipe. You simply need to set its catagory by the same drop down menu. Since items can be grouped by many catagories they don't always fall where you think, but it is pretty easy to make them go where you want (and once it is set it will remember across all characters). Same goes for things like runecloth (blacksmithing?) and felcloth (leatherworking?) ....... takes a couple secs to set up but not a big deal.

Window Width

I came over to ArkInventory from vbagnon, for the bank browse ability, and I really love the mod. One thing that I do miss is that in the tooltip, vBagnon showed if another characater had X quantity in the bank or bags. That was very helpful for storing items on mules, without having to open their bank/bags and browsing to see who has what.

Ok, I will try it again, thanks. This wasn't at all obvious. Maybe some expanations on this page of how to use the mod are in order?

Do you have Anti-Venom in your bags? If so, I managed to fix this by changing the beginning of line 39 of DefaultCategories.lua from:
["6452"]
to:
["6452.FIRST_AID"]

Note that I have no Idea how or why this works. It just seemed like something to try.

You will also want to do this further down on the line for powerful anti-venom. :-D

Very nice progression on the addon. I'm loving it more and more. Thank you.

A couple more suggestions:
1. Can there be sorting by item category? If I had Equipment (Weapon) and Equipment (Armour) in the same bar, weapons would sort together.

2. Can there be separate categories for the subtypes of armor by default? Things like Equipment (Armour - Chest), for example. This will make the sorting by category more valuable, especially for a warrior with several gear sets

3. Equipment (Ring)?

4. Ability to size the bank and inventory windows independently from each other? The bank tends to have a lot more item slots, and when the inventory is made narrow to fit one side of the screen, the bank window runs off the screen.

Also, I am having problems with the Blizzard bank box showing on top of the ArkInv Bank window. Is there a way to disable the blizzard bank and replace it with Arkinv?

I love this mod so much, I've been using mods like advanced bags for ages, and when I couldn't find anything like that for 2.0 I had an EXTREMELY hard time getting used to other bag mods, but this just fits me perfectly.

A couple of small suggestions for future releases:

1 : Equipment (Grey)? Might be nice to have a 100% vendor trash category (where I'd also put stuff like food for cooking, as I can't be bothered taking cooking :P ).

2 : Skins currently go in the blacksmithing category for some reason.

3 : When I sell stuff/move stuff to the bank, the entire inventory "shifts" to fit the new bag setup. In my opinion it'd be better if it only did that when it had to/when bags were reopened. So I could safely sell tons of items in a row, without worrying about the inventory moving around.

4 : Something I've been thinking about for a while, might be out of scope for this addon though, one category that everything is autosold in. Were you could auto put food and greys, but also drag&drop other items to have them auto sold whenever you go into a shop. Just a wild suggestion though, and it'd probably involve a considerable amount of work, and it might be better to keep such a mod seperated from the bags anyway.

Not sure if this is "works as designed":

I am using the German client. From the deDE-file

["ITEM_CONTAINER"] = "Beh\195\164lter",--deDE
["ITEM_CONTAINER_BAG"] = "Tasche",-- deDE
looks ok.
But it does not seem to use the ITEM_CONTAINER, since all my "Behälter" come up as unknown, i.e. Bag0 is ok, Bag1-4 are unknown.

Unlimited Bars

I might be missing something, but I can't seem to find how to set the number of Bars for this addon. I am setting up Bars based on Resistance Stats in armour so the default is used up pretty fast.

If I change the number of bars per line it seems to change the number of bars but not in a manner that makes sense to me. I would have expected an option that states the number of bars that the addon would track and then the bars per line just works with that number for display.

Can anyone tell me what I am missing?

Love the addon though..... moved from EngInventory and this has much improved functionality.

Exclamation green, blue, purple, orange?!?!

is there a option that I am missing on how to make the items show their rare status without hovering my mouse over it? like a highlight over the box it's in or something. and could we sort them out by such rare class?

the number of bars is dynamic in that it just keeps on inscreasing to whatever you need so you can't say you want x number of bars you have to move things around to make it generate that many.

you can either click on the bar number and chose "insert empty bar" to push everything up or you can move a category to the last bar + 1 (via the slider) and that will create a new row of bars

it's possible that those should not have been translated. if possible could you empty one of those bags and put it in bag 0 (backpack) and then go into edit mode, click on the bag you just put there and then click on debug, can you tell me what the type and subtype are?

if they're in english then those shouldnt be translated if they're in german then the translation is wrong.
