Shadowed Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v4.4.8
by: Shadowed, Nevcairiel

SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Slash commands: /shadoweduf (/suf)

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

Tekky: /suf -> Hide Blizzard Frames -> Uncheck Hide Player buff frames

kaboomlol: Just checked, color health by a static color works fine for me, the default static color is still green.

Then you have another addon that is also hiding the Blizzard buff frames. Are you using 3.0.1?

READ! If you are having dragging issues, update to the *alpha* at http://wow.curseforge.com/projects/s...d-unit-frames/ (It should be v3.0.1-11 or higher. After you update go to /suf and then go to the Unit configuration -> <unit> -> Frame and manually set the X and Y offsets of every unit that is stuck to the side of the screen to 0.

After that you should be able to drag things without them sticking, if you still have issues post again indicating that the updated version did not work.

When you buff yourself it goes up just fine, but while jousting and your opponent uses attacks that use up the charges, it doesn't update. Yet the Vehicle frame itself does. I've enabled/disabled buffs for both Shadowed Unit Frames and the Default WoW ones. Yet if I disable Shadowed Unit Frames completely so it doesn't touch the buffs, then the default WoW buffs properly display it.

What it seems like to me is that the buffs for shadowed unit frames aren't being swapped for the Vehicles, just being added together. So when the vehicle gets a buff, such as one with charges, the buffs are added to the players own, and since they are coming form a different source (the vehicle frame) they are not being updated properly, such as when charges are used.

Hmm, hopefully my previous job as a hardware validation tech will make it clearer. I reread my post and like usual posts where I do not edit, they do not tend to be clear.

Basically here is what I did. I started off with the defaults of SUF. Which was basically your buffs and Unit Frame disabled, while blizzards were disabled (through your UI).

I was noticing that I was getting hit harder even though I had all 3 charges, so I looked at my unit and saw that he didn't have any of the shield animations floating around him that represent the charges for the Defend Buff. So I targeted my character, and it showed that he had no shield. I focues him and did the same thing. So I got all charged up. It shows that the charges are properly applied. I and I challenge another champion. I notice through out this that with me as my focus the charges are properly taken away everytime I get hit with an ability that uses a charge, they are also reapplied properly too. But once again, my players buff display does not seem to update the removal of charges.

I started looking around and notice the vehicle swap option. I disable it, so that it basically makes the vehicle my pet. I still got the buff when I applied it, but it was also applied to my vehicle, which is what really gets the buff, it is not the player who gets this buff, but the vehicle. The vehicle updates the number of charges fully, both removal and addition of charges, while my player still does not, with either buff disable.

So I go in and look around, this was where I decided to disable your buffs (I really do not like them, to cramped, not clear, not my personal preference, nothing wrong with them just not to my liking). So I tried this with both buff displays enabled (yours and blizzards) and notice that they are both showing the same thing. I also reloaded my ui, just to make sure nothing stuck around that should not have. So I disable both your buffs and debuffs, and left blizzards enabled. Same thing, it still will not register the loss of charges for the defend buff. I restarted WoW just to make sure nothing was lingering, and did not change anymore settings from here, as I wanted to see what they were. Same result, addition of charges were registered, but not the use of charges.

So I took it one step farther, I disabled your UI completely and ran with only Blizzards default UI settings. The charges got used and added when they were supposed to be. This is where I noticed a difference between how your UI handles vehicle buffs and how blizzard hands vehicle buffs (at least visually, I do not know the inerworkings of the two UI's). Your UI seems to take the buff and apply it to the characters buff display, where as blizzards UI replaces the players buff with the vehicles buff display.

please note that all of my testing really was done during 3.2 and not 3.3. I haven't really had the time to even do those dailies and thus check to see if you changed anything.

TaintForced

I've found something that seems to have been going on for some time with me. It was a problem with PitBull, which is why I decided to switch to something else to see if it was just that.

Every time I attempt to right-click on a target/pet/whatevah, and set Focus on that target, I get this:
Code:
Date: 2009-12-09 22:28:04
ID: 1
Error occured in: AddOn: *** TaintForced ***
Count: 1
Message: Error: AddOn *** TaintForced *** attempted to call a forbidden function (FocusUnit()) from a tainted execution path.

   ..\FrameXML\UIDropDownMenu.lua:575: UIDropDownMenuButton_OnClick()

AddOns:
  Swatter, v5.7.4568 (KillerKoala)
  ShadowedUnitFrames, v
  BlizRuntimeLib_enUS v3.3.0.30300 <us>
  (ck=63)
When ShadowedUF is disabled, it works as intended. I can only assume that Pitbull still suffers from a similar problem.
The only way I've found to set focus on anything is to do a /focus. It works, no errors! Just a friendly heads up before too many raid healers get wind of the problem!

Oh, and I like this. It's better than Pitbull so far, with only two minor requests: Pet Target and Party Targets.

I have something kinda weird going on with SUF. Whenever I join a raid group and enter an instance, I lose the health bar on all of my unit frames. And I mean ALL of them, player, party, raid, target, focus, target of target, pet, etc. The only bar I get is mana/rage/energy.

I went into the options, and made sure that the boxes for health bars were all checked, but it chaged nothing. I tried deleting SUF from my addon folder and redownloading it twice, but that didn't fix the problem.

There's a link to a screen, with insane Paint editing.

Another potential bug: the rep bar doesn't seem to work since a couple of revisions back. Not sure about exp, but showing rep just gives me an appropriately coloured full bar, regardless of what reputation is actually at.

heideger: Boss units don't work for the gunship battle.

shkm: Reputation bar seems to be working fine for me, do you have any special options like override background coloring enabled? Or does your reputation have 999 exactly in it?

tehgrom: You messed up the visibility options, go to /suf -> Visibility -> Raid Instances -> Global -> Make sure you uncheck Health bar completely

Harshmage: It's a Blizzard issue, can't do anything about it.

Insurgence: Thanks for the help! going to look into it

kaboomlol: Your Interface/Addons/ folder

burn122: Could you screen shot what you mean? I haven't changed anything to how aura borders are done.

Ailae / Insurgence: I'm having issues duplicating this actually. It shouldn't be this hard for me to duplicate from the sounds of it, but I don't see anything wrong code wise and doing a few duels it updates how it's supposed to.

Can both of you send me your SV in WTF/Account/<name>/SavedVariables/ShadowedUnitFrames.lua to shadowed.wow at gmail dot com
