Ara Broker SpecSwitcher  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: r10
by: Aranarth [More]

This data broker plugin:

- swaps your talent spec (and gear set) when clicked.
- suppresses chat spam caused by a spec switch.
- sets aliases (leave blank to remove).
- associates an Equipment Manager Set to the current spec.
- mirrors changes made with Blizzard's Equipment Manager.
- toggles the talent frame when right-clicked.
- provides an easy to use interface.

and other minor customizations and utilities...

Supports the following addons:
- AddonLoader (reduces load screen time).
- TipTac (SpecSwitcher mimic its appearence).

r10
- Fixed gear switch (was delayed or prevented).
- Fixed default huge size for high res (was not using UIParent as parent).

r9
- Rewrote gear association and alias interfaces for 4.1 compat.
- Added: Shift+Click a gear set or a spec with an associated gear set to equip it.
- Added: MouseWheel on tooltip to change scale.
- Reacts on Blizzard's equipment manager "Delete" and "Change Name/Icon" actions (mirrors).
- Attempt to mimic TipTac look if you have TipTac.

r8
- Took advantage of the gear manager interface to provide a user friendly way to (dis)associate gear.
- Added a dialog box to edit aliases.
- Within that dialog box you have the option to use the associated gear's icon & name instead.
- Shift+Click (gear manager) and Control+Click (alias editor) can now edit your off-spec using Shift+RightClick and Control+RightClick.
- Changed tooltip to be clear and concise.
- Fixed following issue: if your spec switch cast failed to complete, the associated gear was still equiped.
- Attempted to fix rare issues: gear set not equipping and/or chat spam not blocked

r7
- Added the possibility to associate a Blizzard's equipment manager set to the current spec. You will have to manually type the name of the set.
- Removed borders from icons displayed in the tooltip for a cleaner look.

r6
- Fixed an error that was occurring with StatBlockCore 2.61 when you mouse over the block in combat while "No Tooltip In Combat" is set.

r5
- Fixed login issue.

r4
- Added Middle-Click to toggle hints.

r3
- Added aliases. Control-click to set one. Leave blank to remove an alias.
- Added hints to the tooltip.

r2
- Added chat spam suppression.
- Removed need for timers.

r1
- Initial release.

Is there a way to not show the spec all the time? Seeing the different specs when hovering is enough for me. Most of the time, the symbol alone is enough to remind me what spec I am in.

Tell your display to not show the text for this plugin

Would it be at all possible to choose an icon for each spec? My main is a druid, specced Bear/Cat so both specs show the Feral Combat icon and it's impossible to see on first glance which is the active one. I don't want to clutter the display by showing the numbers too.

I'm not sure if this addon already does this, but having an alias would be great for each spec. So you could just see "Tank", "DPS", or whatever instead of an icon and/or talent points.

Being on my first spec on login, my display looks like this:

X 00|00|00

When I switch to second spec (shown correctly) and back to first, it displays it correct.

EDIT: r3 introduces aliases. Control+click to set one. Leave blank to remove an alias. Note that aliases are stored in two different groups, so you can have an alias for primary "00/60/11" --> "Bear" and an alias for secondary "00/60/11" --> "Cat".

That's odd. Is it happening every time you log ? Zoning too ?

Bug with this in WoW 3.2.0 live. Ara Broker SpecSwitcher (ABSS) r5, StatBlockCore (LDB display) v2.61, USEnglish client/server, WoW 3.2.0 live.

In StatBlockCore's options, have ABSS set to "No Tooltip in Combat". Then in combat, mouse over the StatBlock block displaying ABSS. Error is thrown up:

["message"] = "...\\Ara_Broker_SpecSwitcher\\Ara_Broker_SpecSwitcher.lua:74: Usage: GameTooltipTextLeft1:SetFont(\"font\", fontHeight [, flags]):\n...\\Ara_Broker_SpecSwitcher\\Ara_Broker_SpecSwitcher.lua:74: in function `OnLeave':\nStatBlockCore-2.61\\StatBlockCore.lua:621: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\StatBlockCore\\StatBlockCore.lua:617>\n\n ---",
["type"] = "error",
["session"] = 1247,
["counter"] = 10

Error repeats every time you mouse over the block in combat.

Running a bunch of other LDB mods with StatBlockCore; none of them that I have set to "No Tooltip in Combat" have this problem. Only ABSS.

Thank you for the detailed error report. It's fixed in r6.

Funkydude may have forgotten something in the changelog because there's no error with 2.60 and 2.61 only update the ToC file.

I'm having issues with my Aliases not saving. I can set a name for a current spec such as "Retribution" and it stays through logging and etc. but as soon as I switch from the spec the and then back to it my alias will default to blank and it'll show the ##/##/## instead of the alias. Am I doing something wrong?

I've been using this addon as well as several others of yours for most of the year, thank you.

One issue since Tuesday's maintenance, is that it seems the chat spam is back.
