Hard Yards  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.10r
by: Taraezor [More]

Description
Display the distance to your target. More accurate than any other AddOn.

Why Yards are so Hard to Calculate
AddOns are not able to obtain map coordinate data for NPCs and other players. This is a Blizzard decision to cripple range finding AddOns. Hard Yards is the most accurate at estimating distance across a full gamut of target types. Hard Yards displays the minimum and maximum yards to your target, friend or foe!

Featured as Seerah's Pick of the Week!!!

How To Use
Instal: Like any other AddOn. Set up: Works 'as is'. For options enter '/hy', '/hard', or '/yards' in chat.

Moving: Mouse over the Hard Yards frame, holding down the 'Control' key. Drag and release.

Other AddOns: If one of HardYards_min & HardYards_max is not nil then Hard Yards is loaded and running. Range values from zero to 80 yards maximum. When beyond 80 yards, -1 is returned.

'/hy hide' will hide the frame BUT still allows other AddOns to obtain the range estimation.

Features
😃 Best possible range estimation to any target
😃 Moveable
😃 Resizable
😃 Choice of borders
😃 Text colours are up to you
😃 Distance also appears in mouse over Tooltips
😃 Other AddOns can use the min/max range results
😃 Can separately show/hide the range frame and the tooltips
😃 No Ace libraries = no bloat
😃 Ultra small cpu/memory footprint

If You Like Hard Yards
Nobody can resist an adorable Raptor Hatchling pet or the magnificent Netherwing Drake and Long-Forgotten Hippogryph mounts. You'll of course need Dark Soil for The Tillers friendships and a Loose Pebble for your Dog! While fishing you'll wonder if This Scampi Happening? Oh, but it is! Why not Let Minnow about your fishing poles and you surely Cod Do Batter with your fishing achievements. While adventuring, map your way with X and Y coordinates and always go the Hard Yards measuring distance. Have some fun with Yarrr for pirate Tooltips or turn geek with Fibonacci. See all the hidden game asset IDs with Tip or Enumerate your frames. Achievement critters and NPCs receive some Rare Love and keep track of Sunrise & Sunset.

Cookies, Beer & Donations
It is all about the Cookies & Beer although, and don't let Gallywix know about this, a "thank you" in the comments section fuels my programming appetite and is very much appreciated. And then, you could cut straight to Click here to lend your support! because as Gallywix would say... "time is money, friend". 😊

== v1.04
* Version bump for Patch 5.4

== v1.03
* When not shown, was still triggering the 'move' script
* Moved some local lists as causing memory usage to rapidly climb. Gets caught in garbage collection but would be a worry for players micro-managing computer performance.
* Localised almost everything. Achieved a large cpu performance boost.
* Fixed bug with moving Hard Yards too far from the centre of the screen
* Changing Talents now no longer gets positions, colours etc muddled

== v1.02
* Sometimes during a first time use of Hard Yards there is a long delay before the WoW server recognises we are trying to move the Hard Yards frame. Mysterious. Suspect that it is because the frame hot spot is right on top of our toon. Default position is now offset right and down a bit, clear of our toon. Seems to help.
* Sometimes Hard Yards seemed to forget the last place to which it was moved. Mysterious. To work around this I (1) removed some dead code left over from a copy/paste from one of my other AddOns, (2) explicitly (rather than assuming the default) link the relative position of the Hard Yards frame to the main game window, (3) the previous fix now forces an explicit default location rather than assuming 0,0.
* A better calculation of the 'hot' region dimensions for enabling moving. Benefits really small text sizes.
* Corrected the Class Specialization English language lookup table
* Now handles players with no specialisation (i.e. sub level 10 and any player who has unlearnt or not yet learnt one)
* We Dont Wipe AddOn support
* Show/Hide & on/off options properly differentiated and fixed
* Small change to help/about panels

== v1.01
* Sloppy naming of a variable borrowed from another of my AddOns caused fatal runtime error

== v1.00
* Initial release

Add Move Instructions to chat help?

It's possible that this is my problem, since all the addons that have chat help are failing to scroll in my general chat pane (even on the ones with the default font size). However, I had to come here to find out how to move the box with the numbers in it. If that info is not in the help as output to the chat pane, could it be put there?

If it is, then thank you, and I'll look elsewhere for wtf is going on with my chat pane.
