What is Boss Mod: Text-to-Speech?
Boss Mod: TTS plays on every important BossMod message a text-to-speech sound file, so you always now why your screen is flashing or what's going on around you.

The idea behind the whole thing: Messages are cool but a nice computer voice actually telling you what's happening at the moment is much better!

Boss Mod: TTS works with BigWigs, DBM and DXE.

Q&A:
I only want sound messages which are important to me
Boss Mod: TTS is hooking the message system of you Boss Mod. If you deactivate unimportant messages in your Boss Mod the sound messages are also deactivated.
Simple.

I want to add more sounds!
The sounds are limited to the messages of your Boss Mod. If a Boss Mod doesn't have a message about a special event, there is also no sound for it.

Can I replace the sounds?
Sure, you just need to copy your new sounds to the BossModTTS/Sounds folder and replace the old ones.

Just did a quick and dirty fan update to make it work for MoP. I've added pretty much all new text to speech voice for Mogu'shan Vaults raid (including some heroic only abilities). If you read this Rinu, please send me a msg I'd like to talk with you (original addon author).

Hello!

Hi there, I just thought of this addon from back in ICC and I really enjoyed it as a raidleader.

Would it be possible to make it function in Cata? I'm thinking not only raids but 5 mans as well as they do have quite a number of abilities that WILL wipe the group if not noticed.

I know it's alof of work but.. I have a lot of spare time on my hands and I'm a really fast learner. So if anyone wants to team up and need a code slave, please let me know =)

Hi Rinu, Not sure of the status of the addon as of late. Sure hope you can get some time to look into it again.

I posted the copy of the "sound fix" a couple posts ago, but it would appear that DBM has done something with sound outputs.
Now supports playing sound files through "Master" sound channel (making dbm basically function as it did in 3.3.5 with sounds.)
I have no clue how your addon played sounds if it was out of its own sound output or the use of the different boss mod sound output. Though, if it the latter, I would geuss that maybe just some new sounds need to be made for Cata content?

Pls update

This addon was the most usefull mod for me on raids, bein a tank and a raid lider is not easy if you ve to pay attention to guildmates and boss timers all the time, to get an audio confirmation about the next boss ability was awesome, really helped me to manage stress so pls =( update

PlaySoundFile() and PlaySound() have been updated to accept an optional second argument, allowing addon authors to designate which sound bus/channel to play the sound on. If the optional second argument is omitted, the functions behave as normal (current behavior).

PlaySound("sound" [, "channel"])
PlaySoundFile("sound" [, "channel"])

"channel" is a string with the following possible values. Using "Master" will ignore other sound levels.
"SFX"
"Music"
"Ambience"
"Master"
It would appear that the addon can function once again. Though, I think it has been completely abandoned by this point with the sound issue taking so long to come up with any sort of fix.

Please update mod

If the mod could please be updated to reflect that new expansion that would be extremely useful as there are now ways to get around the sound problem, including using 0 byte files.

This mod rocked in ICC would love to see its new usable iteration.

Nethaera posted this back on the 15th (Oct 2010) but who knows how long it will take.

We are aware of this issue and will be fixing it in an upcoming patch.
